I was cleaning my room this afternoon and decided to take pictures of the movie posters I have in my room smile.gif

Sabrina

The Thin Man (of course biggrin.gif )

Various movie posters that came from a calender I had one year. I cut them all out and made a collage

I'm still working on getting a Libeled Lady poster. They're hard to come by- but I think I've found one.

^^^ Those are SO awesome bubblewrap!

Oh, I watched Another Thin Man, and I loved it! They're such a cute couple! wub.gif

I'll have to post again tomorrow, I have to go to bed, good night!
prettyinpink86
Your posters are absolutely fabulous bubble biggrin.gif! My room won't be complete until I have a Thin Man poster on my wall, but they're impossible to find & I'm not crazy about eBay. Ah well.

Today I'm gonna go to my public library & rent "All About Eve" which I heard is supposed to be absolutely amazing. Plus, I'm interested in seeing another Bette Davis film after being mesmerized by her in Human Bondage. She was fab too.
PaxLux
Did you try movieposter.com?

Another really funny, cute french film is Tanguy. It's about a guy, 28, still living with his parents, and his parents try everything to get him to move out. Now in France, a kid that stays home for so long is call "un Tanguy", cause of the movie.

Thanks. smile.gif Yeah- I bought that one from ebay. It came really quick though and I only payed about $16 for it (it is a reproduction though) I do a lot of research for movie posters. The only way I've found Libeled Lady posters is through really random websites.

Going to watch Anne of Green Gables tonight. I've seen it over 20 times- but it just never gets old biggrin.gif

I still need to buy Anne of Avonlea on DVD. I only have it on VHS

Ooo, sounds good smile.gif! Have fun!

I'm gonna watch the rest of the special features on Another Thin man and the Freaks--which was made in '34 or something.

I rented Notrious(sp), All About Eve & Sunset Blvd from my local library. I've also requested a copy of The Bishop's Wife, which was currently out on loan. I can't wait to see 'em all.

I finished Glida about an hour ago & my goodness, what a great film noir. I can easily say that Rita Hayworth is the most beautiful actress. I wish I could look like her. Anyway, it started off kinda slow but it got exciting as the film progressed. I never expected the twist at the end though. Also, despite the fact that Glida seemed mentally unstable when it come to love & men, I felt for her 'cause I know what it's like. But d*mn, that sexual tension that her & Johnny shared was something else. Besides that, it was a great film & I'd definitely add it to my film collection. Probably Rita's best performance, from what I seen.

Next is Vivacious Lady, followed by Bonnie & Clyde which I've been dying to see ever since I became a classic film fan biggrin.gif!

I was watching An affair to remember a few days ago...then got busy and re-recorded the next viewing. I'm going to watch again tonight I think.

The one part I love in the movie is when Nicky & Terry are departing the boat to meet up w/their prospective fiancee's. While Terry is hugging her fiancee, Nicky passes her by and while her fiancee isnt looking he touches her glove and when she ends the hug she kisses her glove and gets emotional. *sheds a tear*

They dont make them like this anymore!
prettyinpink86
OH, I absolutely adore that film! That scene you mentioned was remarkable, both for the fact that it was bittersweet & romantic at the same time. That scene also proved that saying goodbye is one of the hardest things to do. Also, I must add that you will need a tissue for the final scene of the film. Cary Grant just blew me away. The anguish on his face when he learnt the truth about the painting was one of the greatest moments in cinematic(sp?) history. That, and the scene where they run into each other at the opera/concert hall(??). My lord, I could feel my heart break. I could talk about this film for eternity.

And yes, that don't make films like that anymore. That is why I'm addicted to TCM & AMC, which show great classic films of every genre. Oh, to be around when those films were popular...

I just finished watching Freaks (which is a 1932 film, my mistake), and it's absolutely amazing biggrin.gif! A MUST see! There are a bunch of real freaks, and boy some of them really are queer looking. The special features are great too, they go into great detail about every person that played in the film. Daniel Knauf--brilliant and ingenious creator of Carnivale biggrin.gif--must have seen this and I'm sure it gave him some ideas. This film is a real gem!

Bonnie and Clyde is a really good movie. I've seen it a couple of times. (It's quite violent though- no kidding tongue.gif and for the time it was made it was very controversial)

I saw part of Gilda the other day on the telly, it's quite good--by the little I saw of it--I should rent it to watch the whole thing.

If you want to see Freaks for free go HERE, although you should rent it for the special features, there really great!

Freaks was also very controversial at the time it was made, it kinda put the director, Tod Browning--who did lots of silents, Dracula, etc--into a downward spin career wise. It was taken off circulation very quickly and only rediscovered in the 60s.

My girls are watching Titanic for the first time. I lent them my portable dvd player so they can watch in their room. So far its been quiet the past hour....either they really like it or they fell asleep unsure.gif

I only liked the last hour of the movie personally.

Rose: [letting go of Jack's hand] I'll never let go, Jack. I promise.

bubblewrap, you were absolutely right when you said that Bonnie & Clyde was violent. The final scene made me jaw drop. I found it to be a bit disturbing but I saw it coming. But d*mn, Warren & Faye had tons of chemistry! Despite all the excessive gun shots, it was a pretty good film & it deserved the four stars it got. Ooh, and I loved it when their sidekick(forgot his name) mentioned that Myrna Loy was his favourite film star heehee.

A film that I recommend for all the classic film fans is the 1938 one entitled Vivacious Lady. It's quite lesser known, but it stars the charming James Stewart & lovely Ginger Rogers. The most memorable scene was the catfight in the courtyard between Helen & Francey. It was probably Ginger's best comedic moment & I loved that part that went something like:

Helen: I ought to give you a piece of my mind!
Francey: Well, I can't take the last piece.

Than Helen slaps Francey who proceeds to get up & say, "What did you do that for? I'm just gonna have to hit you back." What it made it priceless was because she was so deadpan when she said it. Oh man, and that part where Francey removed the wrap on her dress, adjusted herself & was like, "Put 'em up" was classic too, along with the scene where she accidently smoked Peter's dad rolling.gif. That was probably the first time in which I witnessed a fight scene that was comical & meant to be that way. And that face she made after trying to sit down after the incident with the thumbtack, oh lord laugh.gif. I think I should stop talking & let you all witness this comic gem for yourself biggrin.gif.

Yeah- I haven't seen the movie for awhile- but I remember how violent it was.

Vivacious Lady sounds really good. Anything with Jimmy Stewart and Ginger Rogers is a must see! Have you ever seen Stage Door with Ginger Rogers, Katherine Hepburn, Lucille Ball, Gail Patrick and Ann Miller? If you haven't- it's a must see. It takes at least 2 viewings to catch all of the dialogue- but it's hilarious and wonderful.

I watched Grease tonight. Can you believe I'd never seen it! ohmy.gif A crime I know. I really liked it though- but I wasn't expecting not to like it tongue.gif
prettyinpink86
I've seen Stage Door at least three times, & it's get better with every viewing. Plus, it features the three funniest women ever: Ginger Rogers, Katharine Hepburn & Lucille Ball. One scene that was super hilarious was when Katharine's character is unpacking & while she & Ginger Roger's character exchanges some of the funniest banter ever. I don't know how they could say those lines with such a straight expression & deadpan voice. Ooh, I found them off imdb:

Terry Randall: I see that, in addition to your other charms, you have that insolence generated by an inferior upbringing.
Jean Maitland: Hmm! Fancy clothes, fancy language and everything!
Terry Randall: Unfortunately, I learned to speak English correctly.
Jean Maitland: That won't be of much use to you here. We all talk pig latin.

&

Jean Maitland: Do you mind if I ask a personal question?
Terry Randall: Another one?
Jean Maitland: Are these trunks full of bodies?
Terry Randall: Just those, but I don't intend to unpack them

&

Jean Maitland: Hey, that's a kind of good-lookin' piece of jackrabbit you got there.
Linda Shaw: Oh, it's just a little trinket my "Aunt Susan" sent over.
Jean Maitland: Say, I think it's very unselfish of those little animals to give up their lives to keep other animals warm.
Linda Shaw: You know, they're very smart little animals. They never give up their lives for the wrong people.
Jean Maitland: Well, you understand the rodent family much better than I do.

rolling.gif Priceless, absolutely priceless. And yes, you will most definitely *love* Vivavicious Lady when you get the chance to view it. Ginger Rogers & Jimmy Stewart are fabulous, together or apart wub.gif. A definite must see for anyone.

Awwww that really sucks sad.gif. I think I'm gonna send an email to the people in charge of releasing films, demanding that it be placed on DVD. I just figured that it would be out on DVD, considering its stars two of the greatest & most popular celebs ever. If I hear of anything, I'll post it here. Vivavicious Lady is one film that should not be forgotten about, ever. Seriously.

Has anyone else watched Lady in the Lake? It was a really good film noir with a huge twist, but Bogart easily plays the best Phillip Marlowe.

laugh.gif That was probably the most funniest fight in the history of films, IMO. It was hilarious how Francey would pause & than just slap an unsuspecting Helen. But haha, that face she made after getting back up was absolutely priceless. IMO, that was Ginger's funniest moment. Loved seeing her feisty & witty side at once. Ooh, and the part where she got caught by her husband was priceless. All she could do was laugh nervously. laugh.gif

"Now what did you have to do that for? I'm only going to have to hit you right back."
