yay! me and my dad just came back from seeing it! and it was obviously A-MAZING! smile.gif even better than I imagined! I knew it would be best to go with him b/c he's the only one I know who would truly appreciate the movie b/c of the Beatles songs...he did admit some scenes were weird, but it was still such a fantastic movie! Hopefully I can get one of my friends to go w/ me to see it again... and now begins the withdrawel period... wacko.gif *pops in soundtrack*

I'm so glad you got to see it! Don't you just want to go see it again and again? I still do. Yeah, the withdrawl period is a long and hard road. However, the soundtrack helps for sure. Wasn't Jude so freakin adorable! ahh! My mom and I went, and afterwards she was like, okay, either you or your sister have to marry Jude! wink.gif hehe.

Tonight I will watch I Was A Male War Bride, as I have to return it back to the library tomorrow. Tomorrow will probably be Breakfast at Tiffany's, as it's a favourite & I've not seen it for a while. It's one of the ultimate girly films. I haven't really watched anything on TCM lately, as they haven't seem to be airing great films lately sad.gif.

Yes I have been listening to the soundtrack over and over again... My favorite part of the movie was "Revolution" when Jude gets all mad wub.gif He is such a great actor with such a great voice...&& the accent on top of it! He's too gorgeous! This man just has it all smile.gif

I know, I love how when he is singing 'Revolution' and he is still singing as he is being escorted out. haha. He has a brilliant voice, I love how you can tell that he is british while he is singing. He definitely has it all. I want to marry him. hehe. But, who knew Evan Rachel Wood could sing, her voice is pretty, very clear. Also, one of my favorite songs is Happiness is a Warm Gun. I also like the scene where JoJo is singing While My Guitar Gently Weeps and then Jude joins in with him and they are walking together down the street. so cute. I think I just love the whole entire movie, every part!

He's just too adorable at that part! I love when he's yelling "All right!" and he's fighting them and... wow...haha! I really hope we see him more in the future. Such a great talent to waste! And I too was surprise w/ Evan Rachel Wood! Such a pure beautiful voice! I never really listened to Happiness is a Warm Gun until after the movie. Now I LOVE the song! It's so much more meaningful when you can have a visual with it. Now when I hear these songs, they just take me back to the movie scene...which is a beautiful thing smile.gif helps me greatly in this time of withdrawel! That part is cute w/ Jude and JoJo. Ahh this man! I just wanna keep seeing the movie over and over to watch him! lol!

My brother keeps making fun of me he's like "you only like this movie b/c you like that guy!" Which, I must admit, DID draw me to the movie... but then I heard the short clip of "Blackbird" on a trailer and I liked ERW's voice. And then it's all history from there smile.gif

My one friend is coming home tomorrow, and I told her about the movie and she said she'd wanna see it... hopefully she still wants to!

I loved the Revolution part too. There's just something about that song...I don't know what it is.

I think I'd have to say that my very favorite part was the whole Dear Prudence section. I really liked how they did that; it was so sweet! I also loved Hey Jude, especially when Max first sees Jude again and does the whole "Hey Judey Judey Judey" thing...I don't know, I just thought that was clever.

I also loved how many random Beatles references there were in the movie! Two that I noticed:

-Near the beginning, an older man (I don't remember exactly who) said something like "When I was young, I thought that when I was sixty-four I'd..." (the quote went on, but I don't remember specifically). So clever!
-And all the names! Aside from the obvious ones (Jude, Lucy, Prudence), did anyone notice that in one scene you hear someone yell "Maxwell" to Max? And at one point, Max is holding a hammer...Maxwell's Silver Hammer!

All of those subtle little references were so brilliant. Does anyone remember any others?

I also loved Strawberry Fields Forever and With a Little Help From My friends... all right so I just loved every part smile.gif I just loved seeing the actors actually singing these songs that I've been constantly listening to on the soundtrack... really brought them to life... I thought that was so cute when Max was yelling "Judey!". On the way home, my dad kept mentioning all these little Beatles tidbits... I caught the part when Prudence came in the window, Jude says "She came in through the bathroom window"... I read somewhere all about these little references... might have been imdb.com?

One of the movie channels has been playing Legends of the Fall non stop and I gotta say, that is one of my favorite movies. Never mind the fact that Brad Pitt looks absolutely AMAZING in that movie! wub.gif I had that movie poster on my wall for years--when Tom and I moved in together he refused to let me bring it with me!!!

Although, in reality, come on--all three brothers fall for the same woman? And then he marries that chick who is like half his age? But even still, good movie!

I saw 1408 a while back. I thought it was okay. I usually like movies adapted from Stephen King stories, but this one felt like it was done before.

Planet Terror was entertaining. I finished it last night.

My son and I have watched Transformers too many times, so this week we just looked at the special features.

Last night I rented the special edition of Aliens. I'm not sure if the additional scenes will make it any better. The original was fine with me.

Wolverine Set for May 1, 2009
Source: Variety October 18, 2007

20th Century Fox has set a May 1, 2009 release date for Hugh Jackman starrer X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which director Gavin Hood (Rendition, Tsotsi) begins shooting later this year. David Benioff wrote the script.

"Wolverine" is expected to feature many other mutants -- some new to the film franchise and some from one or more of the three "X-Men" films. Liev Schreiber is reportedly in final talks to take on the role of a younger version of nemesis William Stryker, played by Brian Cox in X2.

As of now, the only other film staking out the May 1, 2009, date is Disney's animated film G-Force.

The film explores the claw-wielding character Wolverine's violent and romantic past, and his complex relationship with Victor Creed and the ominous Weapon X program, as well as his encounters with other mutants.

Hood will start shooting in Australia before moving to New Zealand and, later, to New Orleans.

Producing are Lauren Shuler Donner and Ralph Winter, producers of the "X-Men" movies, along with Jackman and producing partner John Palermo through their Seed Productions. Marvel's Kevin Feige will executive produce.

Prudence's version of I Want to Hold Your Hand is sooo beautiful, she has an amazing voice! I agree with this not being one of my favorites, for me, it was because it was so upbeat and happy and kinda corny beacause of the fast tempo. But, when it was slowed down, how Prudence sang it, it showcased the lyrics and the meaning of it, and I really apprieciate it way more.

And I know what you mean! I'm always sitting in class just singing the songs in my head and waiting until I can go listen to them again! The soundtrack just gives me the images of his beautiful, adorable face singing so flawlessly... plus all the other wonderful scenes...ahh I just love AtU!!!

And also, did you make your sig/avatar set? or did someone make it for you? b/c I gotta get me one!! smile.gif

'300' is AWESOME! A+++++

I loved it. Beautifully filmed (well...green screened) but it looks fantastic. Tons of drama and action. Lots of strange and unusual characters.

I love movies like this.

I'd like to say how much I'm enjoying Planet Terror. What a fun ride. They should have released it on dvd as one dvd with 2 discs. would have been great to have both together.

I watched Song of the Thin Man last night--the last of the Thin Man movies sad.gif--and I really likes it! There is a special features disc, I'll rent it next time and then I want to get the Myrna Loy and William Powell collection of movies on amazon.ca--among other things. I have to thank you Bubble for introducing me to the Thin Man movies and Myrna Loy and William Powell biggrin.gif ! I love those two, they are so cute together wub.gif!

So glad you liked them! smile.gif I was really sad when I watched the last one too- and then a few months later they released the Myrna Loy and William Powell collection- so I had 5 more movie to watch then laugh.gif There are two other movies with both of them in it if your interested: Libeled Lady and The Great Ziegfeld. They are both awesome movies. Libeled Lady is hilarious and The Great Ziegfeld is an awesome musical. You should also rent My Man Godfrey (1936). Myrna Loy isn't in it- but William Powell is hilarious. It's one of my favorite movies.

And the extra disk your talking about (that comes with the Thin Man set) has 2 awesome documentaries about both of them.

Fun ride is a good way of describing it. Robert Rodriguez's Planet Terror was deffinately the better of the 2 but Quinten's Deathproof was also pretty good. I agree with you though Liz. Why not release them together?

Oh- tell me how I Was A Male War Bride is- it sounds like it will be great! laugh.gif

You're gonna love it biggrin.gif! It's not my favourite Cary Grant film per se, but it was pretty darn funny. Seeing Cary in drag made the film. The man had legs that most girls, including myself would envy. He had a lot a lot of witty lines throughout the film, but the best scene was when he had to fill out a questionare(sp) before officially becoming a war bride. One of them was "are you expecting [a baby]? & without breaking a smile, he replies, "Yes, in 20 months." rolling.gif That wasn't the exact line, but I'm sure you get the general idea laugh.gif. The whole process after that was just a riot, which him explaining how him, a male is a war bride ahaha. That was the only way he could get into the States, with him being from France & his wife an American citizen. I must say though, it seems like he knows how to give quite the back massage wub.gif. It was the perfect combo of gender bending humour & physical comedy. And for a film that had censors bearing down on it, that scene in the haystack was quite hot whew.gif. I hope you'll be able to watch it.

And Breakfast at Tiffany's biggrin.gif happy.gif I love that movie! I watched it not too long ago. (I'm probably due to watch it again soon tongue.gif )

I love it too wub.gif. It's the ultimate rainy day, girly film. I absolutely love the ending, and the scene where they're at Tiffany's. That was the film were fashion was truly defined, with the little black dress & adorable pink cocktail dress. It's a film that one can watch for enjoyment, or a film that can watch for fashion tips, or both. Audrey was just divine in this film.

I forgot to add this in my original post but since I cannot edit it:

Actress Deborah Kerr dies at 86

I honestly gasped when I saw that headline on imdb & that was immediately followed by sadness sad.gif. Although she was not a favourite actress of mine, I absolutely adored her with Cary Grant in An Affair To Remember. With her dead, I'll never watch the film the same way. May she rest in peace with all the all classic & actors & actresses who passed on before her sad.gif.

Ooo, thanks Bubble! I'm so going to the check those out and order the Myrna Loy and William Powell collection! Did you watch that little movie in the special features for Song of the Thin Man, 'A Really Important Person' with the same kid that played Nick Charles Jr.? It is so sweet! Made me melt inside and tear up!

This came in my PBS newsletter:

COMING: THE COMPLETE JANE AUSTEN

Looking ahead into 2008, Masterpiece suggests you flag January 13th in
your datebook. That's when "The Complete Jane Austen" begins airing on Sunday nights, with new presentations of Persuasion, Northanger Abbey, Mansfield Park and Sense and Sensibility. The lineup also includes Emma, the acclaimed film starring Kate Beckinsale, and Pride and Prejudice, the Emmy award-winning miniseries that made Colin Firth a heartthrob. Miss Austen Regrets, a true story based on Jane Austen's own letters and diaries, will also be a part of the four-month
marathon.

^^I am beyond excited for Jane Austin month (even though I've already seen the new versions of Persuasion, Mansfield Park and Northanger Abby tongue.gif ) Might I just say that the new version of Persuasion is amazing- better than the 95 version. You'll love it. I also loved Northanger Abby a lot

YEA! I'm really excited. The new version of Persuasion? I love the 95 version! This one is better?! Oh my gracious. I CAN'T WAIT! I struggle with Northanger Abbey. I haven't seen any productions of it, but even the novel...it's so hard for me to get through it. I know it's early Austen, but still...

I loved the 95 version of Persuasion- but seriously- wait until you see the new one. wub.gif And I had never seen a good version of Northanger Abbey nor Mansfield Park until these recent versions. I'm really excited to see the new version of Sense and Sensibility. I love the old one- but I'm excited to see how the new one will play out. And I love the Kate Beckinsale "Emma" much better than the Gwyneth Paltrow version. There's finally going to be something to watch on Sunday nights!

I can't wait! Yeah, the "Hollywood" Mansfield Park was icky. Parts were good, parts weren't so good. I love Emma Thompson's Sense & Sensibility. I haven't seen the BBC one; I think I have it in my queue or I did. I wasn't crazy over the Kate Beckinsale Emma. I like the Gwyneth Paltrow Emma just 'cuz it cracks me up. Yeah, her British accent would go nasally, but the rest of the cast was good.

I'm so excited! It starts around my birthday too! Woo!

It's okay to clog up the movie thread. We've never made separate threads for individual movies. That would tend to clog up the mb. wink.gif
