I cried then, too, but I really lost it when he told the story of what happened and that explained why he kept doing the kitchen over. A few pages back I discussed how I cry at all movies!

I saw that! Haha When he says that he snapped at her about the kitchen the last time he spoke to her, I had to pause the movie because I just lost it.

Ugh I had to explain to my husband who Isabella Rosselini was tonight dry.gif I swear sometimes he surprises me! His big favorite genre in movies is science fiction, westerns, heavy duty action, war/military.

The other night we were watching a show that Kate Moss had a cameo in. I made some comment about her, and hubby says, "is that someone famous?"
"That's Kate Moss!"
"Who's Kate Moss?"

I really shouldn't have been surprised. This is coming from the man who was never allowed to watch TV growing up and had never even seen an episode of I Love Lucy until after we were married. rolleyes.gif

I loved Reign Over Me easily one of the year's best movies.

Hmm I don't think he punches anyone but he does throw some things lol.

That and Zodiac are up there. Almost the time of year to make my top 10 list of the year woo-hoo!

I'm a terrible HP fan. I haven't even watched HP5 yet. sad01.gif We're so behind in movies. It's awful. Just bought POTC3 which we haven't seen. We'll be getting The Bourne Ultimatum as well, again we haven't seen it. Argh! And yesterday, my hubby went to Best Buy and I asked him to pick up The Faculty and they didn't have it! mad.gif

I wacthed Superbad. It was funny. It could have been more crude considering I got the unrated verison. I did get the biggest laugh in the cop car confessions. Craig Robinson is in it! It's funny. It wasn't as funny as knoked up or 40 yr old but funny. With out that Jonah Hill it wouldn't have been very funny at all, he's the main reason I wanted to see it so bad, but still a good rent if you need a laugh

I just watched this, and it was ehhhhhhh. I have to say I was disappointed. I really like certain parts of it, but the middle dragged. And where was Craig Robinson? I was looking for him, but must have zoned out or something.

The best part of Superbad was "THESE EYES...ARRRRRRRRRRE CRYIN'..."

Well, that's the best part that I can put on these boards without getting in trouble.

I just watched Mystery Men for the 2 millionth time, good as always.

Oh no....! I was really looking forward to 'Superbad', but after reading these comments (and some on other boards) now I'm not so sure.

I'm concerned about Liz's comment. I didn't really find '40 Year Old' or 'Knocked Up' funny at all. Both were enjoyable films worth watching, but I found them lacking in the comedy department.

I bet I'm going to be really disappointed in 'Superbad'.

I'll probably watch SuperBad tonight after the play and the kids go to bed.

I really liked Knocked Up and it was alot better than I thought it would be. I really laughed alot in it.

And my b comedy horror flick, Jack frost. Killer snowman! It's a guy wearing a snowman mascot suit, it's that funny!

To me it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. I rented it this week, and I remember some people somewhere comparing it to American Pie. Well it wasn't nearly as good, but I don't feel cheated by the $2 rental fee.

I liked 40 Year Old V, but Knocked Up was "OK".

Bubble I hope you like Waitress as much as I did. I was sobbing but a happy sob by the end. It's one of those little movies that most people miss.

I watched my Jack Frost dvd last night. I'm so happy with it. I bought it used from amazon, and it plays perfect!

My brother sent me a dvd that I will watch tonight I think...Billy the kid vs. Dracula. yes, you've read the title correctly. My brother and I love a B movie

I don't know if it's a bad thing or not, but Alvin & the Chipmunks actually looks like a movie I might enjoy smile.gif. A couple of movies are coming out in December that I'd like to see... I Am Legend, Walk Hard... hmm... I thought there were more, but I can't think of them. I want to see 27 Dresses and Be Kind Rewind in January, and I just found Fool's Gold for February. I don't know what the point of this post is, but I guess I'm just reminding myself what I want to see smile.gif. Any other recommendations?

I'm desperate for a horror movie, so I'm planning to rent "Wind Chill" from Timewarner cable. I know it's a long shot that it will spook me.

I might have to resort to books to get my horror satisfaction. On second thought, the idea of reading a book is scary enough. mellow.gif

Last month I saw two very different movies.

AMERICAN GANGSTER (with Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe) and BEOWULF (with the character captures of Ray Winstone, Anthony Hopkins, Crispin Glover and Angelina Jolie).

AMERICAN GANGSTER was a very impressive movie. Denzel was nothing short of a pure natural force, and Russell more than held his own. The fact that it's based off a true story makes it all the more remarkable. Mostly plusses, but two minuses were the lack of interaction between Denzel and Russell until the very end, and the inescapable fact that despite their aims to specifically avoiding doing so, I thought they glamorized the drug trafficking biz. Frank Lucas' (Denzel's character) body broke down after his prison sentence and he lost everything in real life. They didn't show any of that, only two sentences about what had happened afterwards. Still I can see Oscar noms aplenty for this movie, but no wins in the big categories. Worth watching. 3 out of 4 stars.

BEOWULF was a likewise impressive movie. I have no idea who Ray Winstone is, but they crafted Beowulf to be a 6-foot-6 twentysomething version of Sean Bean. I've never read the original ancient poem, but I've heard the movie was and was not faithful to the story. The characters were much more conflicted and flawed than their perfect literary counterparts. The movie is absolutely amazing in 3-D IMAX, btw. That is the only way to watch this film. This might be the future of film-making, it's wayyy better than the creepy look of THE POLAR EXPRESS (all of BEOWULF's eyes are animated). Worth watching. 3 out of 4 stars.

Bubble I was feeling the same. I was mad I missed it in it's release but I wasn't expecting a heck of a lot. But wow, I was just like that really blew me away.

I was watching this old movie..if any one knows what it is, let me know I will look it up as well. It was Barbra Stanwick(spelling) and gary cooper. She was a new paper writter and he was a ex ball player who went along with a scheme playing a made up guy called John Doe? The stupid station cut it off before it finished!! I was really enjoying it as well I want to finish it.

Oh it was Jesse james vs. Dracula and it was God awful. laugh.gif

Oooh! Liz, that's Meet John Doe! A fantastic Frank Capra movie, I love it! Gary Cooper is adorable in that movie, so cute, and so is Barbara Stanwyck. (In case you missed the beginning...) She's about to loose her job as a newspaper columnist, so she makes up a suicide letter to the newspaper from an anonymous person, "John Doe", and that saves her job. The "John Doe" character writes columns for the paper, but it's really her. He gets so popular with the readers that they have to find someone to play him, so they hire a homeless Gary Cooper. I hope you get to see the whole movie at some point. It's very sweet and touching, I love it so much!

Ugh. It kind of makes me sick that they made Beowulf into an animated movie. I recently read the book and actually really enjoyed it, and (just like you said) I heard they didnt follow the plot at all. Sad. I would like to see a real-people Beowulf true to the actual epic. Even though I heard it was good from people who hadnt read the poem (like you), I just think I would automatically go into watching it with a negative attitude.

I had already moved 'Hot Rod' above it on my list, but Mrs RC had already bought 'Superbad'. So we watched 'Superbad' last night.

The formula for these movies is always shock mixed with comedy. Porkies had the shock shower scene, American Pie had the pie, etc. Superbad tries to be shocking with the crude dialogue (and some cartoons as well). I can deal with crude dialogue (I like Deadwood) but the Superbad dialogue seem forced and a little too much for me.

I enjoyed the comedic scenes and I was entertained by the film, but overall I thought that Superbad was overrated. 8.00 on imdb? No way.

About the acting, I'm assuming that the directors asked Michael Cera to act just like his AD character of George Michael. I'm a huge Arrested Development fan, so I was ok with that.

I watched almost the first half of the film last night. I always keep forgetting how it's such a marvelous holiday film. The scene that always gets me bawling is when a young George explains to his old boss(I forgot his name) how he mixed up the pills & how it's not the bosses part for what happened to his son. I could never hold back the tears. Now I plan to finish it tonight.

Last night I finally watched Superbad. It was actually pretty funny. The only scene that made me want to throw up is when Seth discoverd the blood on his jeans. Ewww, it looked so real. Evan was absolutely adorable. I wish there were respectable men like him in the world wub.gif. Fogell was a riot ahaha. McLovin is a pretty sweet surname. However, I think the best characters were the cops rolling.gif. The world needs more cops. Overall, I liked it & found it pretty good biggrin.gif.

I agree with the language in Superbad. I was uncomfortable with the amount of cussing and other language in the movie. My husband and I laughed through most of the movie, but it wasn't because of the crude situations. I think we were laughing mostly at the cops and the ridiculousness of McLovin. They could've taken out most of the language and it probably would've been a better movie.

I saw that Cinderella Man was on tv and wanted to watch it really bad, but hubby didn't want to. Hubby told me he hadn't ever seen it before! It's such an amazing movie!
