That's a different kind of Joker. I like it.

Several very unreliable sources are saying that Peter Jackson is back on The Hobbit.

I should rephrase that.

Supposedly, it will be broken into two movies and contain elements of The Silmarillion and some short stories and such. I'm curious to see how he can take the style of LotR and twist it so trolls and dragons can talk. I really hope he can find a way around it, but I don't see how it's possible.

Only thing about the trailer, I really liked the fact that Mark Hamil was the voice of the joker in the cartoon series. He did a great job

Peter Jackson & New Line Cinema have come to an agreement

Part of the above link:

-- MGM and New Line will co-finance and co-distribute two films, "The
Hobbit" and a sequel to "The Hobbit." New Line will distribute in
North America and MGM will distribute internationally.
-- Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh will serve as Executive Producers of two
films based on "The Hobbit." New Line will manage the production of
the films, which will be shot simultaneously.
-- Peter Jackson and New Line have settled all litigation relating to the
"Lord of the Rings" (LOTR) Trilogy.
Fancy_New_Becca
^^ I'm sure lots of people are happy to hear Jackson will take over but at the same time do you think it will hurt him? I hope he moves away from all things LOTR to really crave out a path as a director.

I hope we get this simon pegg movie soon. simon pegg

I think you'll appreciate the humor in this Diapers laugh.gif

I'm watching the trailer for the new horror film 'Cloverfield'. The film looks pretty decent, but I was really drawn in by the music. It was the strangest choice for film music, but it really worked well. It gave everything an unnerving claustrophic feel.

The trailer ends and I close down the trailer window. But the music was still playing! I had a window open to a synthesizer website and their demo had been playing in the background of 'Cloverfield' laugh.gif

If your watching a good trailer you need to SHARE it tongue.gif

Hmmm, that seems kinda neat. Plus it come out the day after my 23rd birthday! smile.gif

I looked it up on wiki--Puzzle websites containing Lovecraftian elements, such as Ethan Haas Was Right, were originally reported to be connected to the film.[15][16] On July 9, 2007, producer J. J. Abrams stated that, while a number of websites were being developed to market the film, the only official site that had been found was 1-18-08.com.[20] At the site, a collection of time-coded photos are provided to visitors to piece together a series of events and interpret their meanings.[21] In addition, Kirk Montgomery of Colorado's 9NEWS reported an inside source's claim that the website Slusho.jp "has lots of clues", though this has not been officially confirmed as a marketing campaign website.[22] The Washington Post also reported, "Records showed that the Slusho Web site was registered before the trailer aired, indicating that the site almost had to be official."[23]

There are some as of yet undiscovered tribes deep in the heart of the Amazon rain forest that probably haven't seen them yet.

I resisted all things Harry Potter until the sixth book and fourth movie came out. I was dating a girl at the time who was a Potter freak. The only thing I got out of that relationship was an appreciation for all things Hogwarts.

I am Legend - It's basically a big budget zombie movie. I liked it.

In the future, the only cars that work are Fords, all computers are Macs and the only movie posters left up are for Warner Brothers pictures.

Speaking of...and this isn't too much of a spoiler at all... Since the epidemic takes place in 2009, some of the movie posters plastered around New York could actually be in the WB pipeline. Two of them that I remember are Batman/Superman and Teen Titans. The Teen Titans one is in a video store. The Batman/Superman is in Time's Square. So if these are real, that means that Teen Titans would come out 6-12 months before B/S. I need to check out IMDB.

I'm sure I'll like 'I Am Legend' but I'm really disappointed that they didn't go the route of 'The Omega Man'.

One of my favorite aspects of 'The Omega Man' is that the people underground weren't zombies, but psychotic Luddites.

I had a similar problem with the remake of the Wicker Man. Once of the key elements of the original Wicker Man was that the village seemed so normal. When they disregarded that storyline for the remake I felt that they threw away one of the best parts of the story.

To be fair, they're not zombies at all. They're more like the people in The Crazies or 28 Days Later.

I don't believe they talked in 'The Last Man on Earth' but they definetly did in 'The Omega Man'. They were normal functioning people in 'The Omega Man' except for thier intense sensitivity to light and loss of skin pigment.

It's one of my favourites too, & one of the few films that I purchased without watching. The others are My Man Godfrey & Some Like It Hot. Anyhoo, HTSAM is a great romantic comedy that's quite underlooked & underappreciated. I think that's too bad as it's one of the greater films out there. Audrey & Peter (who was absolutely dreamy wub.gif) were great together.

I'm starting to get bored of my classic film collection & will take any suggestions, preferably for screwball comedies. I've been watching a lot of clips on youtube lately, specifically of ones with Ginger & Fred dancing. Oh, if I could only tap dance like them wub.gif.

laugh.gif I have that exact same problem. Before I had trouble choosing between films & now it's just deciding on one. I have well over 40 or so classic films but I hope to expand that by Christmas time.

I need to get the Fred & Ginger collection, purely for watching them dance. I've seen maybe three or four of their films.

I absolutely love the film noir genre wub.gif. They just don't make suspense & mystery films the same anymore. Some of my recommendations are...

Murder, My Sweet (Philip Marlowe is the best)
The Big Sleep
Lady From Shanghai
The Postman Always Rings Twice
Gilda
They Drive By Night

Vertigo
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Chinatown

I'd like to see any of these, I just haven't seen them yet. Of the ones on this list, I'll be seeing 'Eternal Sunshine' first.

And I was left saying thats it!?! Enteral sunshine was better than I thought. Its a good movie. Casablanca isn't my fav. I'm not a fan of that one. sunset blv is amazing. One of the wonderful gems is when you see a few silent film stars playing cards and talking. It's just really nice to see and I love buster keaton so seeing him in there was especially fun

I rented balls of fury and the simpsons movie. The video store didn't get half their shipment so the shelfs were pretty bare. I looked for jersey girl and it was rented out.

The Maltese Falcon is a great film noir but a bit slow at parts IMO. The best one on your list has to be the Big Sleep. Easily one of my favourites. To Have & Have Not is also a must see. Even though it's based on that Ernest Hemingway novel of the same name, it's completely different & also, the film is better than the novel for various reasons. It's Bogie's & Bacall's first film together & it's the film where they fell in love wub.gif. I'm sure you'll love it biggrin.gif.

STL, I absolutely agree about Carole Lombard comedies. She was extremely hilarious & it's too bad her life & career was short lived sad.gif. I can't decide if I liked her better in Twentieth Century or Man Godfrey. Both roles in those films are completly different but nonetheless, she was an absolute riot in both.

RC, I've seen Sunset Blvd, Vertigo & Casablanca & all three were great in their own ways. However, I'll agree that while Vertigo is a great Hitchcock film, it's not his best. His greatest work had to be North By Northwest, followed closely by Rear Window, To Catch A Thief & Notorious. Without a doubt, he's a brilliant director & nobody can make mystery thriller films the same way he did.

No problem CHBO biggrin.gif. I love sharing my classic film choices with others & I also love it when they mention how they enjoyed the films too. It's really cool how you get to take a film class. I took one in my senior year of high school, & that's how I feel in love with the classic film genre wub.gif. Speaking of which, here's a complete & up to date list of all the classic films I own:

1. All About Eve
2. An Affair To Remember
3. Arsenic & Old Lace
4. The Awful Truth
5. Big Brown Eyes
6. The Big Sleep
7. Breakfast At Tiffany’s
8. Bringing Up Baby
9. Charade
10. Dark Passage
11. Double Wedding
12. Evelyn Prentice
13. Funny Face
14. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
15. His Girl Friday
16. Holiday
17. How To Steal A Million
18. I Love You Again
19. It Happened One Night
20. Key Largo
21. Kiss & Make Up
22. Libeled Lady
23. Love Crazy
24. Manhattan Melodrama
25. Monkey Business
26. My Fair Lady
27. My Man Godfrey
28. North By Northwest
29. Only Angels Have Wings
30. Rear Window
31. Roman Holiday
32. The Philadelphia Story
33. Sabrina
34. Some Like It Hot
35. The Talk Of The Town
36. Thirty Day Princess
37. To Catch A Thief
38. To Have & Have Not
39. Wedding Present
40. Wings In The Dark

The top 5 that everyone should see, classic film fan or not are:

1. Bringing Up Baby
2. His Girl Friday
3. It Happened One Night
4. Arsenic & Old Lace
5. All About Eve

Of course, I also recommend all the other 35 on my list laugh.gif.

RC, everyone's already reccomended Eternal Sunshine (and ITA), but you have to set aside time to watch Vertigo. My all time favorite movie, and IMHO, Hitchcock's masterpiece. It's not for everyone. But to me it's perfect. It's all dark sexual obsession, with long periods of no dialogue. Nice guy Jimmy Stewart is actually a creep and somewhat psycho. I love the music in it too, dark and intense and gorgeous. Oh, it's so brilliant!

I like "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane" with Bette Davis. It's very dark and fascinating. Give it a look see.
