I'm so glad you liked it! I loved it! I'm not a huge Hilary Swank fan & hadn't ever seen Gerard Butler in anything before, so I was pleasantly surprised. I had heard it was sadder than sad, but I thought it was well balanced. My absolute favorite scene was when he was singing to her in the bar. I LOVE that song but can't find it on iTunes b/c I don't know the name & it's not on the soundtrack. I want to see that scene over again since we learned after that he had met her earlier in the day on that road & gave her his jacket. When I first saw it, I thought maybe they were already dating. Anyway, I totally agree w/ you. Good movie. wub.gif Although I hate to admit it, I guess it is a chick flick.

I am the biggest NON Hillary Swank fan, thats all I can say and still be nice about it. But maybe i'll go watch, Gerald is total eye candy. He was excellent in 300 wub.gif and 300 isnt an easy movie either, its rough with battle scenes and such. But I enjoyed it.

My buddy just called to see if I want to see Sweeney Todd this afternoon. I'm far too unmotivated to do that right now. I think I'm going to spend the next ten hours in my living room with some Hobbits. It's gonna be a geek-a-thon.

It was very sad, but after you cried there was a funny scene to uplift your mood. Definitely, well balanced. I agree with your favorite scene. Every time he opened his mouth was my favorite scene. haha. No, I loved every time he sang to her, he is so passionate, I love it! At one point, at the beginning of the movie-they were fighting and he was yelling at her, reminded me so much of 300. I found the song-Love you till I die, and its so beautiful. Let me just say, I am very happy with the resolution between Harry Conick's character and Hilary Swank. If they would have gotten together, I would have been very unhappy. Yes, it was a chick flick, but a really good one!

That ^^ song is the one she sings during karaoke, right? If so, it's #1 on the album & is called "Love You 'Till the End." The one I'm thinking about is the one the new Irishman (Gerry's friend) sang, which made her remember when Gerry sang it to her right after they first met. It's a more upbeat American-Irish song. Next time I see it, I've got to pay more attention.

Should we use spoiler bars until they're out of theaters or something? Just wondering...

Yeah, thats the song I meant. Gerry also sings it with his guitar after he is dead-and she tells him she had a terrible dream. That song you are talking about was good too! I know I want to see it again too!

I think its safe to not use spoiler bars. If you want to be extra careful, post FIRST that you are going to talk about a movie's spoilers and give some space

like this if you want. Like with the tv thread it says spoilers may happen. I'll add it to the sub title as a CYA move wink.gif

Ok this was from IMDB.com:

Michelle Pfeiffer is desperate to star in a remake of seventies movie musical Grease - and she wants Jessica Simpson to play Sandy. The actress is desperately embarrassed about her performance in the ill-fated Grease 2, and wants to erase all memory of it by making a new version of the original film. Pfieffer is thrilled by reports Simpson is being touted to play prom queen Sandy Dumbrowski - and has her eye on the role of the comical Principal McGee. She says, "It's a great idea, and I hear they would like to get Jessica Simpson for the role of Sandy. She would be good." Pfeiffer adds of her own Grease experience, "I hated that film (Grease 2) with a vengeance and could not believe how bad it was. At the time, was young and didn't know better... I hear it's a cult movie now."
Seriously Grease NEED NOT BE REMADE, ever! And do I need to get into about casting Simpson? I would have to put myself on suspension if I typed what I truly felt!

God help the person who would think that Gone with the Wind needs to be remade. mad.gif <~ doesnt even cut it.

I agree. They need to leave Grease alone, because the original is a classic and won't get any better... ever... especially not with Jessica Simpson. Olivia Newton John did such an awesome job and I think JS would dumb it waaaay down... no offense smile.gif.

I also agree with not remaking GWTW. That one should be left alone indefinitely... times infinity.

Somebody tried to make a Peter Jackson movie on an Ed Wood budget, and got some beloved b-listers, like Ray Liotta, Burt Reynolds and the dude who's like the British Steven Segal to sign on. This looks absolutely horrendous. I can't wait to see it.

In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale

What kind of wizard has a leather jacket and a pompadour? Elvis the Black?

Edit: Actually, it looks like an episode of Xena: Warrior Princess. Some of it looks kinda cool. Some of it looks pretty cheesy. Some of it looks like it was shot in the tiny patch of woods behind my house.

2nd Edit: I've just discovered that Dungeon Siege is a video game. That explains things. Apparently, this movie is to epic films what House of the Dead is to zombie flicks.

It's really cute and the clip at the end of the video is one of my favorite scenes: Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers - A Tribute

ITA that they should NOT remake Grease, ESPECIALLY not w/ JS. I guess I'm a member of a cult b/c I like Grease 2. Saw it when I was young (way TOO young to have seen it, but I didn't get half of it so no worries). It would have a better reputation if it wasn't called Grease 2. I watched the new Hairspray for a second time yesterday, and I think I officially love that movie. It has to be my favorite rendition of the story. And to think, I didn't want to watch it the 1st time. Silly me.

I also saw Sweeney Todd last week. It was good. Not spectacular, not the greatest movie ever made, but it kept my interest! The anticipation of the gore made me a little crazy- but it wasn't that bad. It was gory, but I was expecting it to be worse.

I absolutely adore all Fred & Ginger films & I admit that I watch them purely for the dancing. I pay no attention to the plot laugh.gif. I could watch all their dances for hours on end. The way their feet move to the rhythm is just something I can't describe. It's like watching angels dance.

On the back of the Cover Girl DVD it read something along the lines that the film establised(sp?) Rita Hayworth as the greatest film dancer. Now, while I adore Rita (prettiest classic film star ever) that title belongs to Ginger. She was a phenomal(sp) dancer & it's one of the instances where I was the female move instead of the man. Speaking of great classic dancers, who could forgot Gene Kelly. What a man he was wub.gif.

I recommend The Bride Came C.O.D with Bette Davis. It's not the best screwball comedy, but it's pretty hilarious. It was nice to see Bette in a comedic role.

Okay, so I broke down & saw I Am Legend today. I didn't think it was HORRIBLE, but it was disturbing & made me very tense & uncomfortable. Will Smith did a good job. Am I glad I saw it? No, except I kept Mr. FNOR from buying it when it comes out on DVD. (He tends to do that if he thinks he might like something b/c he figures buying it costs almost as much as renting.) Did I enjoy it? No. I went in expecting your typical "end of the world" movie (Day After Tomorrow, Poseidon Adventure, Deep Impact, etc). It's definitely not that. I spent much of the movie w/ my fingers in my ears & eyes closed. I absolutely HATED the part when the dog died. The infected zombie people were horrid.

Ok, I just saw this the other night. I was so freaking tense I couldn't enjoy myself. But it was good. So, yeah, Will Smith can act. But did I really like watching 50 Gollums onscreen? No. One Gollum is enough. I would have preferred it a little less cgi.

I watched 2 movies tonight- the final movie in the Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland boxset: Girl Crazy (1943). It was my favorite out of the 4 movies in that set. It was a really cute and fun movie. The other movie I watched was The Broadway Melody (1929). It was the first "all talking, all singing, all dancing" movie ever made and won Best Picture in 1929. It was pretty good- though it had a really thin plot and still had silent movie characteristics (cards shown between scene changes to advance the plot for example) The musical numbers were good though. It was just a fun movie to watch to see the costumes and hairstyles of that era.
