How sad... dude was so talented.

He was done with "The Dark Knight" however another one of his films was not completed called "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus”.

Ok i finally saw Cloverfield. I wasnt bothered by the shaky camera as much as slightly annoyed w/it now and then but that was the premise, so i get it. I liked the movie alot, but was confused a bit in the beginning of who was with who and who wanted who etc, but I get it now. The trek thru the city, shopping mall, back trekking thru the city was my favorite part.

I cant wait for the dvd so I dont have phones ringing and i can sit in a more comfortable seat.

That confused me too...but then I decided that I really liked that aspect of it. Because it was a home movie, and usually those don't go around explaining that type of thing.

I did see Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind last week.

Have you seen Adaptation or Being John Malkovich? They're also written by Charlie Kaufman. I highly recommend both...especially Adaptation. That's one of my favorite Nicholas Cage movies of the last twenty years. I prefer his quirkier films to his action movies.

I LOVE Eternal Sunshine, it's one of my favorite movies. It really made me think about what I would do in that situation. Wasn't Jim Carrey awesome in it!?

Saw "Atonement" on Tuesday. Hard to believe the director didn't get nominated for an AA. Then again, I didn't see too many of the other ones - maybe they were outstanding too.

Thanks OH biggrin.gif! I'm happy to hear that they finally picked out a title. I believe the title stems from the novel entitled For Your Eyes Only. That being said, I'm pretty pleased with the cast of actors & actresses. I found that the big name stars, like Denise Richards & Halle Berry, weren't very impressive in their roles so to have some lesser known stars is good. All I need is November 7th to come, & I've been preparing for the latest film by re-reading the novels & watching some of the older films such as Goldfinger (my favourite), Octopussy & the Spy Who Loved Me. Tonight will either be Dr.No or The Man With The Golden Gun. I wouldn't mind watching Sean Connery again wub.gif.

I watched my movie last night, Dingle, barry. It's really off beat and funny. Veronica Cartwright is in it. She's so much fun to watch as the crazy mother. There are a few surprise cameos here at and there. Nicole sullivan is always funny to me and I love her. I think she's a great comedian.
It's basically a movie of a crazy mother, revenge and a total nuts family. It's got lots of swearing thouugh and some pretty blunt talk about some sexual stuff but it's great. It kinda reminds me of a bad campy movie like john waters.

None taken.

Adaptation might be the best work of his career. If you don't like him after that one, you never will...and that's fine.

Or try this... Forget about Nicholas Cage and watch it for the brilliant performances from Meryl Streep and Chris Cooper. Both are incredible.

I made my mother watch 10 Things I Hate About You last night because she had never seen it the whole way through. It was my first real PG-13 movie and he was probably the first guy on my celebrity crush list (I was twelve). I was watching some of the tributes people posted on Youtube and crying this afternoon. Tonight's film: probably A Knight's Tale.

I'm on an HBO kick tonight! I dont think this movie, Barnard and Doris, will have big ratings or money but it stars two of my favorite actors. Ralph Fiennes and Susan Sarandon!

Oh gareth thats terrible. I saw another thing like that. A ex wrestler posted a blog and AOL had the link so I read it and it was so much worse. The bottom line he said, heath did the right thing by finally killing himself. I was completely disgusted.

Yeah, that's why I've stopped getting all of my news and social commentary from ex-wrestlers.

Here's a piece that's the exact opposite.

I'm Not There, the 2006 addiction drama Candy, and the tantalizingly creepy trailer for this summer's The Dark Knight all suggest that Ledger was learning to choose roles that took advantage of that peculiar quality he had of seeming at once larger than life and inwardly focused. In the years to come, I'm sure there'll be movies that make audiences think, dang, Heath Ledger could have nailed that role. So I won't opine on how sad it is that a gifted young man, someone's father and someone's son, lost his life at the threshold of a great career. I'll just say that the movies themselves will miss Heath Ledger.

I'm ashamed to admit that I've only seen one of his movies, The Brothers Grimm. Lords of Dogtown and Brokeback Mountain had been on my list, but I'd sort of forgotten about them.

Brothers Grimm is pretty good, my kids enjoyed it alot(i dont mean to make that its a kids movie). I have'nt seen Lords of Dogtown but my sister loved it and cursed me for not watching it.

Brokeback Mountain isnt about two men or two cowboys, its about love and loss.

I watched Notes on a Scandal last night. It was OK. Nothing spectacular, though Judi Dench was great- as always.

This could have gone in the 'What are you watching right?' now thread.

Are there any Roger Corman fans on the board? I'm watching Frankenstein Unbound. I've always liked this one a lot. Raul Julia, John Hurt, Bridget Fonda, Jason Patrick and Michael Hutchens from INXS as Percy Shelley. What casting! ...But not a single Oscar nomination. mad.gif

Went to see 27 Dresses today. I thought it was pretty good. My mom cried at one point (we keep going to see comedies but she still manages to find something in them that will make her cry). It was funny and the dresses were great in how awful they are.

Has anyone here seen "Michael Clayton"? If so, did you like it and would you recommend it?

Also, I'm trying to find some good movies that will be releasing soon on dvd. We're running out of ideas for our netflix and could use some suggestions smile.gif.

Youh not sending me to da coolah!

Yeah, that one isn't even watchable in the Ed Wood so-bad-it's-funny way.

I picked up a few DVDs on payday --

The Simpsons Movie - Love it. Almost makes up for all the awful episodes I've seen in past few years.

Sicko - Saw it in the theater; I think it's my favorite Michael Moore film.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 2 disc special edition - I already own the Nightmare Boxed Set, but a few new docs and commentary meant I had to get this one too. I can't help myself. I own two copies of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and TCM 2 because I'm a sucker for DVD extras. God help me if another Dawn of the Dead SE comes out, I already spent 60 bucks on the 4 disc. Anyway, any reason to watch one of the most horrifying movies ever made one more time is a good one. You can scoff at the jokester Freddy in the later sequels who kill people by turning them into cockroaches, but Robert Englund is so creepy and unnerving in this one. The series started off so strong, it's a shame they fell into by the numbers cliched horror. Wes Craven's original outline for part 3 was to revolve around kids who would walk to a certain location and commit suicide, the only common link between them is their dreams about Freddy Krueger. That could've been a very groundbreaking horror film, but alas New Line Cinema wussed out and made Craven tone it down. Nightmare 3 is still pretty good though, if only for the line "Welcome to prime time, b*tch!".

Coincidentally, the later Nightmare sequels are fun to watch in the Ed Wood kinda way, and for their rockin' soundtracks.

I was so sure it was going to be Dokken or Goo Goo Dolls.

I know this is the wrong thread, but you brought them up. Dramarama has a song called Work For Food that would be a personal anthem for me if it wasn't a complete lie. It's about not becoming a slave to the man, which is something I did a long time ago, though I still try to deny it. Great song though.

I actually rented some movies (well a movie) today: The Painted Veil (which I've wanted to see for a long time) and the first 2 disks of Remington Steele (I've already seen the first 2 episodes) I figured I would rent something a little different since I've been re-watching the first 2 seasons of Moonlighting laugh.gif

haha diapers thats pretty funny. I wish they would have done more in that movie with the 3d effect. I've kept them hidden away. I've wished they would redo the jason v. freddy movie so the end would be 3d, that would have been AWESOME!
