Man in the Moon is on TV right now. I can't watch, it's too sad. And Reese Witherspoon is so young!

I've wished they would redo the jason v. freddy movie so the end would be 3d, that would have been AWESOME!

I LOVED that movie!!!

Just finished watching Big Daddy. I love that movie too. Didn't realize when Tom and I first saw it years ago it would turn into our life, but oh, well! dry.gif

Anyone see Rambo yet?

I've heard a lot of great reviews from a lot of men laugh.gif. My husband has been talking about it for weeks, so we're going to go see it as soon as we can... probably on Friday night or something. I'll let you know what I think if I see it before you smile.gif.

I saw Persepolis today. It was very good. Funny, and yet tragic in some parts. I highly recommend it. biggrin.gif

I actually rented some movies (well a movie) today: The Painted Veil (which I've wanted to see for a long time)

I watched this tonight: wow- amazing movie. I'm sad I didn't see it sooner! I absolutely loved it though. Slight spoiler Movies don't usually make me cry but this one sure did!

I was so sure it was going to be Dokken or Goo Goo Dolls.

I know this is the wrong thread, but you brought them up. Dramarama has a song called Work For Food that would be a personal anthem for me if it wasn't a complete lie. It's about not becoming a slave to the man, which is something I did a long time ago, though I still try to deny it. Great song though.

There were two links, one was the Goo Goo Dolls song. I was thinking of doing something fancy to show there was more than one, but I figured it's their loss for not clicking both words just to make sure.

I decided one day to check to see if Anything, Anything was Dramarama's only good song; Work For Food got the honor. It is great. And yeah, wrong thread, but oh well.

Oh I love the nightmare series. I still have my 3-d glasses from when I went and saw freddys dead in theaters. Wow that video was a huge flash back for me.

I envy you. A pair of 3-d glasses came with my Nightmare DVD set, but it would have been so much cooler to see it on the big screen.

I was terrified of Freddy after I walked in on my mom watching Nightmare 5 one night (it was the scene with Freddy skateboarding, oddly enough). I mustered the courage to rent Freddy's Dead when I was 11, and I was finally able to tell myself he was just a silly movie character. Then I rented New Nightmare...

After the nightmares subsided, I was a huge Freddy fan. I watched the entire series out of order, I think part 1 was the last I saw (or maybe it was 2). I even bought one of those toy gloves, which is not even close to being as cool as the movie one. I'm still considering ordering a exact replica online, but I fear it's the horror nerd equivalent of hanging a model of the USS Enterprise from the ceiling of my living room. Plus, I know if I were to have a party get drunk at my house, I'd end up putting it on and waving in peoples faces.

I FORGOT TO RECORD JANE AUSTEN! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. mad.gif I'll have to set my Tivo today. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Has anyone seen Rambo? Mr. PL really wants to see it; he'll be going without me, but I'd like to hear how it is so I can prepare myself for an onslaught of disappointment and moping. laugh.gif

We just watched The Lookout. It was really good--it's about a kid who gets a head injury and these people try to convince him to rob a bank.

And RC, your girl Isla Fisher shows some skin. wink.gif laugh.gif

We finished watching C.R.A.Z.Y. in french class today. It's actually really good, probably the best Quebec film, at least that I know of! The cinematography, editing and concept was all really well put together, and it was touching and relatable. I saw part of it this summer cause my cousin rented it, and it was nice to see it the whole way through. I know it's french, but I would recommend watching it, it's really quite good!

I watched Some Kind of Wonderful (1987) tonight. (I was in an "80's" mood laugh.gif ) I've probably seen this movie 15 times but it never gets old. I would say that this one is my favorite 80's teen movie followed by Pretty in Pink

That was the best part of the movie. The thing that frustrated me about the movie is that it never explained why anything was happening. There is a giant monster running around the city...where did it come from?. The part you are describing was closest they came to actually revealing what was going on...and that wasn't very close to begin with.

I finally saw Cloverfield today and I tried to read through all of your responses to this AMAZING film, and I hope I didn't miss anything if this has already been mentioned...but I think I have an answer for you BTB about why or at least how it happened.

Ok...so you know when Hud was following behind in the alley and was coming up with lots of hypotheses about some sort of alien creature or somewhat and that it was possible it came out of the ocean and got into the city? Well in the last scene with the two lovebirds in the ferris wheel..if you look behind them in the upper right hand corner of the screen you will see something fall out of the sky and splash in the ocean. Their trip to Coney Island was a full month before the happenings, giving the creature time to grow and somehow infiltrate the city? Did anyone else notice this????

I LOVED this movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And hats off to Lizzy Caplan (Marlena) in this movie. I loved her in Mean Girls and she's just as delightful in this role despite the circumstances.

I finally saw Cloverfield this past Sunday and I really enjoyed it. I kept hearing good things on the web, and thankfully the movie didn't disappoint. The movie did an effective job of getting the viewer to care about the characters. That's more important to me than special effects.
The_107th_Caller
I'm glad to see that everyone on these boards who has seen Cloverfield enjoyed it so much. I saw it the weekend it came out and it amazed me. I was kind of worried the first couple of minutes because of the hand-held camera - I get motion sick pretty easily - but I acclimated to it quickly and it didn't bother me the rest of the movie. I read an online article the first Monday after the movie was released and there was a link to a discussion board. After reading all the positive reactions on this board, I was amazed at how many people hated it on this other board for mostly one of two reasons - the handheld video - many people claimed they actually had to leave the theater - and the lack of answers as to the creature's origins and what happened to it after the video went blank. Heaven forbid we use our imaginations anymore, or let some mystery remain after the last reel. Oh, well, I guess we're in the minority, but I don't mind...

I watched Avril (or April in Love, in english) last night. I's a sweet french film about a young girl who grew up in a convent to become a nun, and something happens for her to leave for a short time in search of her brother. Yeah, I'll admit to seeing one of the Scary Movies too. It was the one with Chris Elliott and David Cross. Apparently, two rights can make a wrong.

^^^ I knew what you were talking about. I just couldn't resist the Haku thing. I've seen a lot of great reviews for Spirited Away, but I still haven't seen the movie.

Howl's Moving Castle also went over really well with critics.

Spirited Away is a very good movie, it's really confusing or it was for me the first time I saw it. I used to really like japanese anime and cartoons (especially dragonballz...) but I don't really watch many so much anymore. Either way Spirited Away is a great movie, I would highly recommend it. They seem to show it a lot on tv so you could probably catch it one weekend on cartoon network or even TCM if you get the time.

Both of those movies are great, i loved watching them.

Most Miyazaki movies are excellent. I highly recommend them. "Spirited Away" (which won an Oscar), "Howl's Moving Castle," "Porco Rosso," "Whisper of the Heart," "The Cat Returns," "My Neighbor Totoro,""Nausicaa," "Kiki's Delivery Service,""Princess Mononoke," and "Castle in the Sky."

They're all available in English, released by Disney. They're all fabulous movies. I can't recommend them enough.

That said, is anyone else excited for "Jumper" and "Vantage Point"?

I'm really looking forward to seeing 3:10 to yuma. I was disappointed I missed it in the theaters. That will be on my to do list today
