my mom is watching 3:10 to yuma now. I'm so in love with this movie
mrs.snooks
I thought 3:10 was ok, but I was really disappointed with the ending when the good guy died. I think it was too psychological for me and not like all the westerns I grew up watching (John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, etc.).

Anyway, I can't wait to see this movie!
Semi-Pro
Semi-Pro (another trailer)
I love Will Ferrell movies biggrin.gif.
Fancy_New_Becca
my mom really liked 3:10. I made her laugh when I put the extras on and she heard christian bales real voice. Thats one thick accent.
prettyinpink86
Has anyone watched Strange Wilderness yet? I saw the commercial for it recently & it looks pretty hilarious. I believe Adam Sandler produced it so it's bound to be pretty funny. Also, I watched the HD trailer on youtube & I was pretty much dying of laughter during the scene where the shark is laughing rolling.gif. And finally, Jonah Hill is pure love wub.gif.

I also saw the trailer for Leatherheads during the Super Bowl & I cannot wait until April 4th! John K & George Clooney on the same screen together is my fantasy come true wub.gif.

I am so excited to see it. I've been waiting to see this movie for a long time and I was so sad when the release date got pushed back until April

I watched The Awful Truth (1938) yesterday, and I didn't love it. It was good and funny and I loved seeing Asta, but it was sort of long and felt very much like a formula--although many American films, especially from the era, are. But I still enjoyed it.
Fancy_New_Becca
a friend of mine is sending me some dvds he's copied. I never have the time to see a movie really alone or with friends. So I hope in a day or so I will get them. They are mainly movies that are still in theaters, I know it's bad but if I didn't get them from my friend, my cousin would have them laugh.gif

I rented Saw 4, and The Fog this weekend. I'll give Saw 4 a B-, and The Fog a C.

I prefer suspense in my horror movies, over gore and torture porn. It's probably because I'm getting old or desensitized.

I love that movie. Irene Dunn and Cary Grant are hilarious together (they made 3 movies together- I haven't seen 1 of them- Penny Serenade) My Favorite Wife is my favorite though

The Benchwarmers is on--stupidly funny movie, but I think it is hysterical how this group casts themselves. Rob Schnieder as the bully in high school who is the big stud now? Or Adam Sandler in Chuck & Larry as the ladies' man who had five girls at one time? It's funny how they seem to fulfill their fantasies on screen.

I watched the 1932 Frank Capra movie American Madness tonight. Pretty good. A slow start but it definitely picks up. It's also a relatively short movie at only 75 minutes. The mob scene at the bank is amazing. They must have cast every movie extra the studios had on file at the time. (That's at least the way it seems laugh.gif )
Fancy_New_Becca
I'm guilty of stopping to watch The Hot Chick every time. It's kinda funny/bad like benchwarmers but its actually funny

I watched Brokeback Mountain last night.

I'll admit, my purchase was somewhat influenced by Heath Ledger's passing. But I'd already seen it once, and still, it's an incredible film. It's not about gay cowboys. It's about spending your whole life being separated from someone you love, and about trying to pretend you're something you're not.

Cried my eyes out.

I taped it the last time it was on HBO but I haven't had a chance to watch it yet. Maybe tomorrow afternoon. I too have been re-watching as many Heath Ledger movies as I can find.

Ooo, Frank Capra! I'll see if I can find this one too happy.gif!

I must admit I disliked Brokeback Mountain. I wasn't impressed at all, it was long and boarding and unconvincing. There were no elements or cinematographic technics that stood out or made it at all intriguing. The scenery itself was beautiful, but honestly most anyone can plant a camera and shoot it, it's taking it to a new and better level that should be praised. I've seen better stories about the stugles and such faced by homosexuals, like in Angels in America, C.R.A.Z.Y., Six Feet Under and Deadwood, etc. I mean no offense to anyone, just my opinion on the film itself as an art form smile.gif.
Fancy_New_Becca
I saw I am legend. Lets say I wasn't impressed. I remember people here saying Omega man was better but I don't think I want to see that either. I thought it was drab and way over hyped. I really liked that dog in it though. laugh.gif

I agree. I found it to be one those films that slowly explored the plot & when the end came, they threw everything at you. For me, it's one of those films that I have to watch twice to understand. And yeah, I really liked the dog too, especially since I have a german shephard myself laugh.gif.

I watched another Marx Bros. last night, A Day at the Races (1937) and I loved it biggrin.gif! The horse(s) were gorgeous and I loved watching them! I love watching Chico play the piano and Harpo play the harp, they are just stupendous! And I loved the swing dancing at the end, it was fantastic biggrin.gif!

I watched Strange Wilderness earlier today & it was a hoot rolling.gif. Jonah Hill, who played Cooker was probably the funniest character. He didn't talk much but when he did, I laughed pretty hard. I think it definitely earned it's 18A rating with the nudity (I think they showed everything but a women's er, neither regions) so yeah, definitely not a family day film laugh.gif. One of the most memorable scenes was at the end, when they showed the shark up close & the shark started "laughing" rolling.gif. I think everyone in the theatre laughed. I did enjoy Grandma's Boy which was another Happy Madison (??) production, which also had the majority of the same cast that SW had. Ooh, and Justin Long was priceless too as Junior. It's one of those dumb comedies that's geared at young boys but I still enjoyed it pretty well.

Is Strange Wilderness a new movie? I don't think I've heard of it, but I might have to watch it now smile.gif.... but not because of the nudity wink.gif. Hubby and I watched Grandma's Boy and thought it was hilarious! I loved Nick Swardson and his car bed rolling.gif. Anyway, I'm looking up SW right now on imdb. I'll have to add it to netflix.

I watched saw juno late last night. I thought it was quirky, cute in places and I did like the message of the movie, but I didn't think it was the years best. I see how it does appeal to younger people, but if we're going by off beat movies of this year, I still think Lars and the real girl was better.

I really did like Jason Bateman. He was perfect, if you only saw him for a short time.

Tonight I'm watching No country for old men.

HBO- my fav marx brothers movie is Animal crackers. It always leaves to the point of tears when I see it. rolling.gif

Totally. I think that's generally regarded as their best movie. The "Hello, I must be going/Captain Spaulding" musical number... laugh.gif

I just read this in an interview with Michael Showalter in The Onion.

AVC: Another recent announcement was your planned remake of Night Of The Living Dorks. What's that about?

MS: That's a teen comedy in the vein of a John Hughes movie. It's basically about a bunch of dorky high-school kids who become zombies, kind of like Sixteen Candles meets Dawn Of The Dead. I wrote a draft of the script, and I plan to direct.

I love Showalter, Stella, The State, The Baxter and all of that stuff, but it's too easy to make these movies now. "Well, it's kinda like Snakes on a Plane, but with zombies" (Flight of the Living Dead) or "It's like Lassie, but with zombies" (Fido - Which is very good. Seriously, go rent it). I love a good zombie picture (and the bad ones too), but the novelty is running thinner and thinner. Still, that's not going to stop me from watching Undead or Alive (Starring Chris Kattan) tonight. Wanna guess? It's a western, but with zombies.
Fancy_New_Becca
I've seen Night of the living dorks. It was only semi funny not very gorey and I was put off by the thick over dub of the german accents. I'm not looking forward to this remake so much. I think I'll pass. It's another Shaun of the Dead IMO. Has anyone seen Boy eats Girl?

I just finished The Bourne Supremacy...so I'm behind by a few years. A few thoughts:

Enough with the shaky-cam already! I get it. It's cute. The scene is so intense that even the cameraman can't stand still.

Do not try to watch a Bourne movie after imbibing a few potent potables. There's just too much going on, and you're going to need all of your faculties.

I'm pretty sure Brian Cox and Lewis Black are the same guy...or are at least related.

Okay, not the best examples, but still...

No wonder Sarah Silverman strayed. I'd post the link, but it's too foul. That's why I'm not sending you to youtube to see what Sarah Silverman did with Matt Damon on the Jimmy Kimmel show.

I just talked my buddy into going to see a matinee of In the Name of the King: A Dragon Siege Tale at the cheap theater. I hope I laugh so hard Cherry Coke comes out of my nose.

Darn. Rotten Tomatoes says that's it's not even funny bad...just bad. I don't know if any other movie has ever recieved a 2%. Even Meet the Spartans and Good Luck Chuck got 3%.
Bailey08
I just watched 28 Weeks Later. Wow, so much more intense and sad than the first one (28 Days Later).

The social aspects of the movies are very interesting. In the first one: the men being promised the women. Ick. And in both movies: people leaving others behind vs. saving each other. What the husband did in the beginning of the film was shocking to see. But, in a sense, realistic?? You don't usually see that (*cough*Cloverfield*cough*)

I watched two films recently which were Kitty Foyle & Grand Hotel. Out of the two, I enjoyed Grand Hotel much better. Plus, it featured the famous Greta Garbo line which is "I vant to be alone" laugh.gif. I only watched Kitty Foyle because I heard good things about it & because Ginger Rogers was the main star. Don't get me wrong though. I enjoyed it & I believed Ginger deserved her Oscar but it was confusing at parts. I actually had to read about it on imdb to understand the whole idea. As for Grand Hotel, it started off slightly slow & boring but got way better as it went through. Joan Crawford was in it as well & I almost didn't recongize her without those harsh eyebrows laugh.gif. Anyway, she was pretty good along with the rest of the cast. While it was a good film it had its depressing moments, like most great dramas do. I would definitely add it to my DVD collection though, as it's one of those films that I can watch again.

The same thing happened to me when I watched Dinner at Eight (1933). The first time I watched it I thought it was really slow and dull and turned it off half way through. I watched Grand Hotel and I didn't really like it all too much. I liked Joan Crawford the best, she was so pretty! I didn't really like Gretta Garbo all too much in it, she seemed like she was over acting a little and it got on my nerves. Ditto, really didn't like Juno. I won't go into it, for I've said it before.

----------------------------------------------

I went to see There Will Be Blood yesterday, and I didn't like it. It was long and boaring and I didn't like that kid (blanking on the name) playing the preacher, just didn't fit and wasn't believable. I liked the era and thought it was all very well and realisticly portrayed, but it had no story. It struck as to what To A God Unknown by John Steinbeck might end up being like--it's a good book, but very deep in meaning and would not turn out well on film. Any ways, the music was somewhat anoying--as much as I love Johny Greenwood from Radiohead. I left before it was over, for I had a head ache and it only made it worse. All in all I was not impressed and could not connect to this film.

Saw 27 Dresses this afternoon. I loved it- very cute!

CHBO I agree on 'There Will be Blood'. I think the novel it was based on was probably good, I just don't think the story was well suited for a movie. Daniel Day-Lewis was really good and I think it really portrayed the time well. I think a lot of the story could have been cut out, it just drudged on forever.
I think over all, it was ok, not great or anything.

I didn't like it either. I think if it weren't for 'Mean Girls' this movie wouldn't be the same. Also, I didn't like the way they handled the moral issue, but I won't get into that.

So, I bought Across the Universe when it came out on Tuesday. I have watched it every day since I've got it. That's why I haven't been around lately....
