I don't think anybody would want to go see a movie like that where the girl actually chooses to have an abortion. Just saying...
It was very sugar-coated, but that was what it was supposed to be.
Ummm, I strongly disagree. A film tells a story, and a good film tells that story well and has all the other elements (cinematography, soundtrack, acting, etc.) in place and also well executed. Weather that story would be about a girl that would get an abortion would not matter the least to me, it could be well done and a brilliant film--weather or not that would be the focus or a more minor plot.
I just didn't like how bias this film portrayed the story. I understand there wouldn't be a story, in this case, if she had gotten an abortion, but her life was essentially better
after having that child. Her whole pregnancy, the process of finding a family, etc. was made to look easy and painless--the pain and hardship only lightened by humor--and the abortion clinic she visited was completely unrealistic. It, and the pro-life protester whom was lightly teased, seemed only placed their to deter those whom are pro-choice from making a fuss. That and their little-indie-flick facade sure made the pill easier to swallow.
I mean, the film is made for young people. What do you think a young naive person who watches a film like that and doesn't know better is gonna think/do? This film tells young people--and anyone else for that matter--'hey, pregnancy is really not that bad! It's pretty easy and painless, actually! It won't turn your life upside down--even if your young and accidentally get pregnant--and it won't be that hard to get a really good adoption family for it either! He||, you can even check the Penny Savor!'
Now, I'm not saying that everyone who sees this movie will think this, I certainly didn't. But I know teenagers--I am one--and they really buy into this. What I am saying is that this movie seemed to me funded by pro-life lobbyists, and I would actually love to see a film that would be more open and give people/teenagers a more realistic view on the whole situation as well as show them the available options.
Also, I DO NOT want to have a debate about abortion. This is a critic/my opinion on the film and the film ONLY. So, please nobody take this the wrong way
