Please don't force me to sit through that again, just so I can write my dissertation on everything that's wrong with that movie.

I'll need a few days to get all my notes together.

Well of course you don't like it, you're a romance scrooge.

I HATED Signs. Hate it. Anyway....

You know what else I hated? The Forgotten. Why? Besides the fact that it sucked?

....the marketing. Movie trailer editors and the marketing department need to promote movies for what they actually are.

Two times I sat through a movie that I didn't know was going to be Sci-Fi: Dreamcatcher and The Forgotten. Ummm, hello? Where were the aliens in the previews? I don't mind Sci-Fi movies, if that's what I know I'm seeing. Jeesh.

I saw Children of Men last week. It was only ok. It isnt the best post-apocolyptic british society with an overbearing gov't movie that i have seen this year. That title belongs to V for Vendetta.

I liked it pretty well - there were some acting problems, especially from the Fishes. It inspired me to read the book, which is saying a lot since I got totally turned off to P.D. James the last time I read her stuff.

I HATED Signs.
I have a theory that Signs was just a loveletter to Spider-Man.

It was okay, but...
iCiCritique2
Signs was pretty good, a lot better than the village anyways...on another note i just saw some really good previews on comcast, specifically trailers for The Transfomers(i was hooked as a kid to this cartoon, and michael bay is the director), Fantastic Four:Rise of Silver surfer(dont know much about the story, but the SpFX look awesome), I think I Love My Wife(Chris Rcok, i just tend to like his movies)...and i cant wait for Ghost Rider next month.
Bailey08
Signs had a very anti-climatic ending.

Another movie about faith, which made it better than what it was, but....I still hated it.
Chicagochic
I enjoyed Signs. It wasn't anything over the top, you know like Independence Day, and that's why I think I liked it!

Anybody see Snakes on A Plane??? Great movie! Samuel L. Jackson should be nominated for an Oscar for his outstanding performance!!

Ok just kidding, that movie looks so ridiculous, I would never see it! laugh.gif

i really loved the Village. I enjoyed the fact it was built around the power of suggestion. You say it enough, you believe it and you live it. It's based in faith.
It's when that faith is revealed as just a lie that makes it the best twist. But she goes back and carries out the lie and life she had. People had been expecting another sixth sense I guess.

Pirates 3 better not stink. two was ok. alittle more depp less knightly.

I agree totally about the necessity of focusing more attention on Johnny Depp in Pirates 3. That is exactly what was lacking in the second one. That which sets these movies apart from any other random action adventure is Johnny Depp's ridiculously odd portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow. It's hilarious.

p.s. OK the one clean thing I could say is, Venom has a freakish sized ribcage compared to the rest of the 'body'

Movie Review: Children of Men

Yesterday I saw a bunch of new movies so here is the first review.

I've wanted to see this movie since I saw the trailer for it and I can say it did not disappoint.

The movie felt real and I must say I hope that never happens to our planet.

Basically the world is in total chaos and well there has not been any new births in the past 18 years and the world is dying.

Also all this information can be found in the trailer so I'm not giving anything away.

But there is hope the main character played by Clive Owen has been introduced to a young woman that is pregnant.

Anyway the movie is about from there a struggle to make sure she is safe and in the proper care.

Julianne Moore & Michael Caine are also in the film but don't have near as big of a role as Owen he is the main character and the camera is never far away from him. By the way I loved Moore's and Caine's role in the movie in a way I wish they had bigger parts than they did but hey it worked.

I felt the ending was interesting but I guess it ended where the story ended and there is nothing wrong with that.

Verdict: 8 out of 10

I really want to see that. Hopefully this weekend, just need to find a theater that is playing it.

I'm also planning on seeing The Queen. And, I finally have Little Miss Sunshine in my hands. But, since the Golden Globes are on tonight, not sure when I'll finally get to see it.

I actually really liked Signs....Joaquin Phoenix was very good

SOOOOOO excited for Spidey 3, (I agree about that ribcage thing)

Want to see Children of Men, with the review from fechin, i think i might

THANK YOU FOR THE PIRATES PICTURES!!!
Is it me or does Johnny look hotter than ever.

When the Prestige comes out, i definitely reccomend you to rent it! I LOVED IT. It is definitely the kind of movie you want to watch over and over again, Christian Bale rocks!

More on the Pirates subject:
Hopefully the third one is better than the second, because the second didnt make any sense.
How did the monkey not die throughtout the movie("look, an undead monkey") wasnt the curse lifted?
Also, I am on the outs with Elizabeth-she basically dug Jack's grave for him and then she cries and said she misses him, why? Its her fault. mad.gif
I'm sorry but i think the movie was sloppy and not as witty as the first. The whole shish cabob thing, was sooo lame...
Agree with the more Johnny less Kiera thing, he is the reason why people see that movie.
anyone agree?

i just saw dreamgirls, i really enjoyed it! jennifer Hudson has an INCREDIBLE voice. i also loved the two minute part john Krasinski had, even though i knew he was going to be in it, he still surprised me.

friendly warning: if you don't like broadway, don't go see this movie. people jsut randomly break out into song, and if you're not really into that hten this isn't your film.
Fechin
I did not really think there was anything wrong with the 2nd POTC film and I bet a lot of people will be like ok this all makes sense now after they see the 3rd one.

I love Broadway- but the singing though the should be speaking bothered me in this movie. I think it is because the whole movie wasn't like that, they just switched too it in the middle. The first half was singing when they were actually singing, the second half had that plus singing though they should be speaking. Plus, the parts they did it were just huge pieces of cheese. Gag me.

I had mixed feelings about the movie. Didn't hate it, don't have a desire to see it again.

Here's an article that compares Idiocracy to Children of Men.

I'm putting CoM high on my list, but I have a feeling it's going to have to wait until video. My local Googleplex is driving my business away. $9 to watch a movie (sans popcorn and soda), surrounded by a gaggle of ne'er do wells, compared to $.50 rentals (for five days!) at Family Video, that I can watch in the comfort and relative silence of my living room? That's a no-brainer.

I was taken aback when they just started to sing....they could have done better.

Have you seen Junebug? It's a movie similar to this in the style it was filmed, and is an independent film. Its a drama...but I recommend it. Amy Adams was in it and fantastic.

These movies are definately cheaper to film and allow people to actually act, which is such a rare thing these days. They should definately make more like them.

No I haven't seen that. I do like independent films a lot. Sometimes I think they are better than any of the popular movies. My dream job is to go to work for an independent film making company. There are about 5 in VA.

Yeah- I like sort of off the wall comedies too. I think Hollywood should make more of them like Little Miss Sunshine. They seem to do well and people tend to like them a lot- so why not? They used to make a lot of darker comedies in the 30's and 40's- so they should bring them back! I love them!

Oh, Netflix has this thing where if you have been a member for a long time and use it at a normal pace, they treat you worse than newer, less frequent members. I had a "long wait," forever on it, and had it at the top of my queue since before it came out...and my co-workers would just put it on their list and it was sent out right away! So, one of them just gave me their copy, because I was the only one who hadn't seen it yet. They took pity on me. smile.gif

I saw "Pan's Labyrinth." Fabulous. I loved it. I'm really into movies that make you think, and aren't clear cut (Memento, Mulholland Drive) and this movie fits right in there brilliantly. It was violent, some of it disturbing- just to warn you, but it served the purpose of the story well.

I remember that show - pretty bad stuff.

I saw "We are Marshall" (it was not my pick). The best thing about the movie was the soundtrack, which doesn't appear to be available. The score is available though - the score was terrible! lots of swelling strings for sad moments and trumpets/brass for triumphant moments. rolleyes.gif
