Variety: Jenna Fischer (The Office) to star alongside John C. Reilly in the Jake Kasdan-directed comedy WHARD

Columbia Pictures has set Jenna Fischer to star alongside John C. Reilly in the Jake Kasdan-directed comedy "Walk Hard."

Judd Apatow and Kasdan wrote the script.

Fischer will spend her hiatus from "The Office" playing Darlene, a June Carter Cash-like love interest for fictional troubled music legend Dewey Cox (Reilly). Fischer also will sing in a comedy custom-fit for Reilly, who has sung and played harmonica in blues bands and last sang onscreen in "Chicago."

Fischer and Reilly recently starred with Seann William Scott in Dimension Films' "Quebec," the directorial debut of "The Pursuit of Happyness" scribe Steve Conrad. Fischer also will be seen in the Paramount/DreamWorks comedy "Blades of Glory" and "The Brothers Solomon" for Screen Gems.

Apatow and Kasdan are producing "Walk Hard" with Clayton Townsend.

Umm I was totally wondering that too! Everytime I see that commercial I think "man, I love this song! what the h*ll is it called??" We ARE the same person and it freaks me out. Oh and it might be because I'm a chick and looove chick flicks, but I want to see Catch and Release so bad! I love Jennifer Garner (from Alias to 13 going on 30) and I think it looks cute. But again, I'm a chick flick fanatic

Hey that kinda rhymed!

OKay I'll go.

Thats exactly what I was feeling watching the commercial, I found myself singing the chorus in the commercial for that was all I knew.

We are the same person, and that is too wierd. ohmy.gif
I also Love Jennifer Garner and if you tell me that you watched Alias, I think I might pass out because I am yet to find an Alias lover on the boards. wink.gif
mambo_no_5
Hmm that wasnt the song I was thinking of. Mat Kearney is in one of the commercials and the one that I'm thinking of is in the other. I already have the Mat Kearney song...he opened for John Mayer last September when I went with my friends and I've loved him ever since.

Alright was it?:

1. Just a Ride- Jem
or
2. Anna Nalick- Breathe(2 AM)

those are the only other two I believe

On a side note...

Did you watch Alias, I am preparing to faint.

Just saw Pan's Labyrinth with my mom. It was very very good ... but sad. Very sad. Even though I knew it was a war era film, I was surprised at how sad it actually was. And I was still surpised even though I had read an interview with the director where he talked about growing up in the aftermath of the facists and how he wished there were fairytales that told the truth about the world when he was growing up, and so that's what this film was: a fairytale that didn't gloss over the horrors of humanity. He definitely achieved his goals! For all the saddness and frankly depressing parts of the movie, it was still quite lovely so I recommend everyone see it and I hope it gets the Oscar for best foreign language film!

I finally got "Somewhere In Time" from Netflix today. I'd only seen parts of that movie over the years- its my mom's favorite movie so every time its on tv she watches it. It was one of the best movies smile.gif So good! If you've never seen it you should definitely rent it- its worth it biggrin.gif I also got "Down With Love". I saw it at the theatres when it came out 3 or 4 years ago. I had forgotten how good that movie is. I love that they made it just like a 60's movie.

I love Ewan McGregor in that and in all of his movies - yum! I'm not a big Renee Zelwegger fan, but she was really cute in Down with love and I liked the look of the movie too - kinda Doris Day/Rock Hudson, but a bit more risque.

It's been sooo long since I've seen that - but part of it was filmed on beautiful Mackinac Island! Fun place - part tourist-y, part historical.

That was one of my favorite movies for a long time. We used to go to Mackinac Island when we lived on the UP. I remember riding around in carriages eating fudge, and sometimes we'd rent bikes and ride around the island. It was a big treat for us kids. smile.gif

As many times as I've visited the island, I've never actually been in the Grand Hotel. I don't know if this is still true, but they had a dress code and they had the "fashion police" posted a few yards away from the entrance to make sure you were properly dressed.

You might be surprised at how that whole area looks now. The lakeshore in Mackinaw City is lined with chain hotels (I don't think there are quite so many in St. Ignace) and there are casinos nearby.

How did I miss this conversation today?

I'm not much into "chick flicks," but "Somewhere in Time" is one of my all time favorite movies. Of course it's sappy and the plot has huge gaping holes in it, but that's not why we watch it, is it, girls? I've watched it so many times over the years that my VHS tape will probably be giving out soon. Christopher Reeve was my first love, and who among us hasn't imagined ourselves as Elise McKenna in some of those scenes?.....Anyone? Okay, maybe it was just me, then. wub.gif
Oh yeah, and Christopher Plummer is in it too. I don't care how old that guy gets. He is still absolutely incredible in anything he's in.

"Down With Love" didn't do too well, but I still though it was cute. And David Hyde Pierce in the Tony Randall role was hilarious. "Pillow Talk" (with Rock/Doris) is on my Desert Island movie list. That movie was ahead of its time, and I still laugh like crazy every time I watch it!

P.S. About the Grand Hotel: The book that the movie was based on actually took place in San Diego, at the Hotel Coronado. (the one with the big red roof) I think moving it to the Grand Hotel was a good choice, though.

I stayed in the Grand Hotel a couple of years ago (2003) and they do have a strict dress code! Women have to be in dresses/skirts or VERY nice pants suits and Men have to be in suits, jackets, and all after 6pm! I did not however see any "fashion police" around though! Dinner at the hotel is a 5 course affair! I felt like I went back in time there! No cars, dressing for dinner, fancy food...it was great for a history geek like me! On Topic though, I loved Somewhere in Time! I didn't see it until after my stay at the hotel so it was great to see because I was able to recognize so many places I had just seen in person!

Is anyone else thinking of seeing HANNIBAL RISING when it comes out next week?

I'm not sure yet.

I loved SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, hated HANNIBAL and liked RED DRAGON. And I know creator/author Thomas Harris wrote the book of the same name earlier, but I didn't read it, as the whole thing felt like it was being set up as a teaser for the inevitable movie. I also didn't really see the need for yet another Hannibal Lector movie, esp one where he is inescapably the protagonist in the movie. Serial Killer as anti-hero? C'mon. I thought that the Anthony Hopkins trilogy was more than enough for this character.

That said ...

I can't help but be intrigued by the movie. Whoever they cast as young Hannibal does bear a striking resemblance to Sir Anthony Hopkins. I usually hate prequels, but there's something about revenge movies that I find appealing. I loved MAN ON FIRE with Denzel Washington for that reason. Vicarious living at its most base, I suppose.

Anyway, anyone else have any thoughts on this movie?

It looks like Russell Crowe might be stepping into the shoes of the likes of Alan Rickman and erm, Keith Allen to play the Sheriff of Nottingham in a new Robin Hood movie. Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment has bought the screenplay entitled NOTTINGHAM, which is said to be a evisionist version of the Robin Hood story.

Crowe is set to bag 20 million dollars for his efforts, while screenwriters Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris will get seven figures themselves.

The film has no director attached as yet.

I don't know if the fashion police thing still applies, because I was on a school trip there, but staying there really isn't all it's cracked up to be. We got to stay there on the trip and the rooms were really really small. The walls are paper thin so you can hear everything the people next to you say (or do, someone would throw that in anyways). My friend hurt herself in the night, made a little yelping noise, and we got security called on us. Bad experience.

i just saw letters from Iwo Jima. It was an excellent movie, i can totally understand why its an oscar nominated film. It was truly powerful, and very moving, i found that it was really interesting to see a story from the "enemies" perspective, instead of from an american view. I totally recommend it.

I loved CLERKS 2. Maybe because the characters aren't that much older than me. And I remember when CLERKS 1 came out as well. Yeah, as far as I'm concerned, Kevin Smith made exactly 3 movies of note: 1 was groundbreaking (CLERKS), one was really well-written (CHASING AMY) and one was a good mix of being funny and poignant at the same time (CLERKS 2).

There just better not be a CLERKS 3 in 2019. I don't want to see these guys in their 40s.

Office Space is incredible. My husband usually doesn't like to watch things he's seem before, (I know, . . .weird, blink.gif ), but he'll sit and watch that movie over and over.
