I think that he has an over-developed sense of self importance because he wants to do so much, but he can't.
Come on, pretty much all rockers think they are sooooo important...

You are absolutely correct about most rockers think they are so so so important. I have a friend, who is a lead singer of a somewhat successful band, and he can't get enough of himself. That being said, I still feel like Bono's ego is a little bit larger than your ordinary rock star's.
JAM4NEVER
Well, I have a different view of Bono.

Lets just leave it at this:
In the words of Fechin,

BONO RULES
JAM4EVA_1
Okay...haha. Inside...lol.
JAM4NEVER
Haha. biggrin.gif
JAM4EVA_1
Ryan Gosling, now?
JAM4NEVER
Ryan Gosling is beautiful.

Did anyone see Half Nelson?
JAM4EVA_1
Yeah, I didn't remember how gorgeous he was in the Notebook until I watched it yesterday. Love that movie. He's so ah-dorable in the ferris wheel scene.

Exactly. The big ego comes with the territory for being a rock star. You have to have some amount of ego just to do that job. The ones that come across as having no ego are simply better actors.
Fancy_New_Becca
nothing to watch last nite, so I poped in Holes. It was actually pretty good. jon voight creeps me out though

Didnt think my bono comment would set off a chain reaction but atleast it's become a pretty good topic of conversationlol still dont like him though
verygood
I loved Holes. It was a great movie and they really took care to align it to the book, which is refreshing. I went last night to see Bridge to Teribithia, which was one of my favorite books growing up. They changed a LOT but it was still pretty good. I was very surprised, though, because judging from the reactions of the people in the theater, my sister and I were the only ones who had read the book. That's too bad because it is beautifully written. I hope they don't stop teaching it in schools just because there has been a movie.
JAM4NEVER
HOLES was a good book.

BONO STILL RULES!
Fancy_New_Becca
I never got to see pans labyrinth, sad about that.

jam 4, did you see the piece on U2 that said they are basically a underground christian movement?
JAM4NEVER
No, When was this piece?

I think they are more about "Coexist"ing than Christianity...

It was the theme of the Vertigo tour...

it was on 60 mins a few weeks back. i'll have to find it for ya, was interesting
JAM4NEVER
Okay.

Any chance we can stop the Bono/U2 hate? They are my fav band and I am really starting to get annoyed about this whole thing. You clearly hate them and I respect your opinion but I think we get the point.

Dare us not forget this is a MOVIE thread.

If you want to fight about if U2 is a cult or whatever PM each other about it.

Thanks

Here is the 60 mins piece: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/11/17/...in1053542.shtml

Says nothing of them being a cult.

Niiiice, Fechin.

My friend and I are both in law school and we both like movies, so we are starting a legal film series. Last night we watched "A Few Good Men," which I had never seen before - I liked it overall, but some of the lines were over-the-top-dramatic.

Here's our list so far:

To Kill a Mockingbird
The Paper Chase
Anatomy of a Murder
My Cousin Vinny
Rashomon
12 Angry Men
The Crucible
Judgment at Nuremberg
Shawshank Redemption (somehow I have never seen this one, so I can't wait!)

Our library has a lot of these on DVD for free rental! Wahoo!

That sounds like fun! The original 12 Angry Men is one of my favorite movies of all time, just for the pure brilliance of it. The entire movie takes place in one room, and yet it is intense, never boring, and some of the actors deliver incredible performances. The majority of movies don't ask you to think. This one does.
A Time to Kill and The Rainmaker were also great, although I guess I'm biased because I happen to be a John Grisham fan.
Fechin
LOL

Star Wars Rules!

Maybe I'll watch A New Hope tonight after work smile.gif
JAM4EVA_1
I'm sorry, but I think the Lord of the Rings is way better than Star Wars...
Fechin
Well hard to compare when Lord of the Rings where based on some of the greatest books ever written.

Lord of the Rings are some of the best films I have ever seen and are better made than most of the Star Wars films.

Though Star Wars is my favorite smile.gif and always will be it's been such a huge part of my life.
JAM4EVA_1
Well, I've seen all the Star Wars, and I still like LOTR better.... *please don't hurt me.........
Fechin
Each is too his own wink.gif LOTR is hella awesome smile.gif
JAM4EVA_1
Mhmm, you know it! Aragorn is a hotty!!!!!!!! Also Frodo.
Fechin
I would not know anything about that LOL
Fancy_New_Becca
wow. Never wanted to start a fight about u2. Thats been taken alittle far. I'm not going to say another word about it though.

watched the crush today and cat woman...bad movieslol why did i watch themlol
JAM4NEVER
Thank you Fechin,
for the U2 clarification.
BONO/U2 shall never be dissed again.
They should have never been dissed in the first place..but...Ok I am done.

Also,
STAR WARS is a classic and should be apprieciated.
The movies are real cool.
Also,
LOTR is very well made.
And the whole Aragorn hotness ordeal too.
JAM4NEVER
My Cousin Vinny is one of my favorite movies ever made.
A Few Good Men is Tom Cruise at his finest, along with Jack, of course.
Great_Philanderer
I'll bash U2 all I want. I don't care for them. Actually it has nothing to do with U2 themselves but with one of their fans. A guy I went to high school with was a creepy obsessive stalker type. (this was 1990, the term "stalker" hadn't even gotten into the pop vocabulary yet) One of the girls on my cross country team had to go to the school administrators to get him to leave her alone. Anyway, besided being a creepy guy he was also a huuuuuuge U2 fan. I mean like he was an even more fanatic U2 fan than we are office fans. I guess he kind of "tainted" U2 for me. U2 sucks. U2 sucks out loud.

Oh, also. I saw a promo for Black Snake Moan. My God does that look like a piece of s**t. Oh Samual L Jackson. Is there any script that you'll turn down? sad.gif

Maybe he got tired of being the world's highest grossing movie star. (He passed up Harrison Ford a couple years ago.)
Sometimes there's relief in lowering people's expectations. He and Ford both seem to be taking that road these days, come to think of it.

They say Tom Hanks is the B.O. King. They don't count cameo roles etc etc...

Yeah the guy really needs to do some good movies I mean I like SJL but it's been awhile since he has done something good in my book.

That makes complete sense. When I saw the interview where he was bragging about being #1 at the B.O., it was including movies like Star Wars, in which he only had a minor role.

Little known fact: Harrison Ford was acutally in ET, but they cut out his part, so he doesn't get credit for it.
Fechin
Cool I never knew that smile.gif

Plus all of Ford's roles were main ones: Han and Indy etc.

Has Samuel made any good films?
Good as in Oscar worthy?

Fill me in.
Fechin
Pulp Fiction biggrin.gif he was Nominated for an Oscar
Fancy_New_Becca
He's got some real talent but lending it to real junk lately
JAM4NEVER
Thank for that Fechin...

Slipped my mind.

Is that the only one?
Hhaa

I wonder where Hugo Weaving falls on the Box Office list. He was in all the Matrix and LOTR movies. That right there should put him up pretty high.

I killed you, Mr. Anderson. I watched you die... with a certain satisfaction, I might add. Then something happened. something that I knew was impossible, but it happened anyway. You destroyed me, Mr. Anderson. After that, I understood the rules, I knew what I was supposed to do, but I didn't. I couldn't. I was compelled to stay, compelled to disobey. And now, here I stand because of you, Mr. Anderson. Because of you, I'm no longer an Agent of this system. Because of you, I've changed. I'm unplugged. A new man, so to speak. Like you, apparently, free.
Fechin
Boxofficemojo does not have him on the site for some reason. It would be interesting to see if they would count his roles in LOTR since it was minor.

Just got done watching "Contact" great film.
JAM4NEVER
Are you kidding me, Fechin?

I was watching Contact too!
CW right?

Wierd...

I agree, great film.
Crazy how they didn't believe her!

I rented Marie Antoinette tonight. I thought it was quite good. I've read that a lot of people didn't like it.....for whatever reason blink.gif I like how Sophia Coppola portrayed the time period with all the bright colors. I also liked how she put modern music as a soundtrack with a period film- it was different but I thought it worked well.
Fancy_New_Becca

SLJ did win a bafta for his role in Pulp Fiction, so that's the perfect example. I thought his performance in Jackie Brown was even better. He was also great in Jungle Fever, A Time To Kill, and Die Hard 3.

I think Black Snake Moan looks really good. Good enough to catch in the theater. It has 88% on the Tomato Meter, that's all I need. Plus, I loves me some Christina Ricci.

Enough of this SLJ hate.
