Come on, pretty much all rockers think they are sooooo important...
You are absolutely correct about most rockers think they are so so so important. I have a friend, who is a lead singer of a somewhat successful band, and he can't get enough of himself. That being said, I still feel like Bono's ego is a little bit larger than your ordinary rock star's.

Exactly. The big ego comes with the territory for being a rock star. You have to have some amount of ego just to do that job. The ones that come across as having no ego are simply better actors.

I loved Holes. It was a great movie and they really took care to align it to the book, which is refreshing. I went last night to see Bridge to Teribithia, which was one of my favorite books growing up. They changed a LOT but it was still pretty good. I was very surprised, though, because judging from the reactions of the people in the theater, my sister and I were the only ones who had read the book. That's too bad because it is beautifully written. I hope they don't stop teaching it in schools just because there has been a movie.

My friend and I are both in law school and we both like movies, so we are starting a legal film series. Last night we watched "A Few Good Men," which I had never seen before - I liked it overall, but some of the lines were over-the-top-dramatic.
Here's our list so far:
To Kill a Mockingbird
The Paper Chase
Anatomy of a Murder
My Cousin Vinny
Rashomon
12 Angry Men
The Crucible
Judgment at Nuremberg
Shawshank Redemption (somehow I have never seen this one, so I can't wait!)
Our library has a lot of these on DVD for free rental! Wahoo!

That sounds like fun! The original 12 Angry Men is one of my favorite movies of all time, just for the pure brilliance of it. The entire movie takes place in one room, and yet it is intense, never boring, and some of the actors deliver incredible performances. The majority of movies don't ask you to think. This one does.
A Time to Kill and The Rainmaker were also great, although I guess I'm biased because I happen to be a John Grisham fan.

I'll bash U2 all I want. I don't care for them. Actually it has nothing to do with U2 themselves but with one of their fans. A guy I went to high school with was a creepy obsessive stalker type. (this was 1990, the term "stalker" hadn't even gotten into the pop vocabulary yet) One of the girls on my cross country team had to go to the school administrators to get him to leave her alone. Anyway, besided being a creepy guy he was also a
huuuuuuge U2 fan. I mean like he was an even more fanatic U2 fan than we are office fans. I guess he kind of "tainted" U2 for me. U2 sucks. U2 sucks out loud.
Oh, also. I saw a promo for Black Snake Moan. My God does that look like a piece of s**t. Oh Samual L Jackson. Is there any script that you'll turn down?

Maybe he got tired of being the world's highest grossing movie star. (He passed up Harrison Ford a couple years ago.)
Sometimes there's relief in lowering people's expectations. He and Ford both seem to be taking that road these days, come to think of it.

That makes complete sense. When I saw the interview where he was bragging about being #1 at the B.O., it was including movies like Star Wars, in which he only had a minor role.
Little known fact: Harrison Ford was acutally in ET, but they cut out his part, so he doesn't get credit for it.

I killed you, Mr. Anderson. I watched you die... with a certain satisfaction, I might add. Then something happened. something that I knew was impossible, but it happened anyway. You destroyed me, Mr. Anderson. After that, I understood the rules, I knew what I was supposed to do, but I didn't. I couldn't. I was compelled to stay, compelled to disobey. And now, here I stand because of you, Mr. Anderson. Because of you, I'm no longer an Agent of this system. Because of you, I've changed. I'm unplugged. A new man, so to speak. I rented Marie Antoinette tonight. I thought it was quite good. I've read that a lot of people didn't like it.....for whatever reason

I like how Sophia Coppola portrayed the time period with all the bright colors. I also liked how she put modern music as a soundtrack with a period film- it was different but I thought it worked well.

SLJ did win a bafta for his role in Pulp Fiction, so that's the perfect example. I thought his performance in Jackie Brown was even better. He was also great in Jungle Fever, A Time To Kill, and Die Hard 3.
I think Black Snake Moan looks really good. Good enough to catch in the theater. It has 88% on the Tomato Meter, that's all I need. Plus, I loves me some Christina Ricci.
Enough of this SLJ hate.
