I love SLJ I just think he needs to read some scripts before he accepts the roles.
BW Yeah M.A. is a decent flick I liked it

P.S. Looks like we were watching Contact on the same channel LOL
I am watching Notting Hill right now

I just watched two movies that I thought were good. "Idiocracy" and "The Science of Sleep". I especially like Idiocracy. I though it would be terrible, but I had to see it because I think Mike Judge is very funny. It was really funny and a scary look at what the future could be like.

I've chosen my top movies in honor of the day. The History Channel and PBS have many amazing documentaries on our presidents that are well worth watching, and I prefer those to the "Hollywood" versions of our history, but here are some others that I enjoy:
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington: I actually had a teacher in high school who quit his law practice and became a Government teacher after watching this movie. It's an American classic, and Jimmy Stewart at his best.
All the President's Men: This is all around such a great movie. It's not overly dramatic but will keep you hooked, and I had a good time watching this again last year after "Deepthroat" was finally revealed.
Dave: A romantic comedy set in the White House. A bit cheesy at times, but you know what? Somehow it works in this one. I
love this movie, and Kevin Kline is just incredible.
Dick: Okay, I've just lost my credibility by adding this one, but seriously, if you haven't seen this, it's worth a look! I didn't watch it for the longest time because it looks like an annoying teenage chick flick, but it's a hilarious spoof on the Watergate scandal that is really well done. And come on, the title makes you curious, doesn't it?

All the President's Men is one of my all time favorite movies!
Dave is an understated classic.
Notting Hill is Hugh Grant's best, Fechin!

SLJ did win a bafta for his role in Pulp Fiction, so that's the perfect example. I thought his performance in Jackie Brown was even better. He was also great in Jungle Fever, A Time To Kill, and Die Hard 3.
I think Black Snake Moan looks really good. Good enough to catch in the theater. It has 88% on the Tomato Meter, that's all I need. Plus, I loves me some Christina Ricci.
Enough of this SLJ hate.
Great post! Saves me from having to type an almost identical post. I agree with everything you wrote here.

Last night I saw the trailer for
Zodiac, (I know someone commented on it pages back). This is my all time favorite crime mystery, and doubly fascinating since it took place here in the Bay Area and some down in So. Cal. The guy who remained the number 1 suspect just recently died in the last year. If you're looking forward as much as I am to seeing this film and haven't read the book by Robert Graysmith, I
highly recommend that you read it before seeing the film. It is truly an unnerving and fascinating story. Here's the link.

ZodiacI love this unsolved case too! Jack the Ripper is still my number 1, but Zodiac is a close 2nd! I'm definitely looking forward to the movie. I contemplated getting the book, but I've already done
a lot of reading on the official Zodiac website and on Crime Library.com so I wasn't sure it would be worth it. Maybe I'll pick it up though.

It's in my Blockbuster queu - should I move it up ahead of the rest of Rome, Season 1?
I watched The Devil Wears Prada the other night - it was good, not great, but much better than the book. The best thing about the movie was all the great fashions.

I love the Thin Man movies! Powell and Loy's chemistry is amazing - there's a scene at the end of the first movie (I think, correct me if I'm wrong!) when they are on a train and he tells her that he's not going to sleep in the top bunk. They give each other this look that's R-rated. Besides the chemistry, I love his joking, arrogance and constant drinking. Oh yeah, and the mysteries - those are good too!
