i came on here to echo the same sentiment. i loved this show, but the romance is over for this appalachian. no more 30 rock for me, either.

...by the way, i am from east tennessee, born and raised, a science teacher and the only member of my family without a PhD. my masters will have to do.

Oh come on! You can't pick and choose your cultural sensitivities! Are you equally outraged by the other stereotypes---Tracy's hip-hop thugs and bling? Lemon's loveless career girl? Jack's crazy workaholic? Jenna's ditsy attention *****?

Obviously, your recitation of your academic credentials is meant to set yourself apart from the hillbillies. Perhaps you have a bias against them, too? If you're too educated to get the joke, well---that's your loss.

By the way, my daddy was born in a log cabin in Roaring River, NC--that's about as hillbilly as it gets. He was an amazingly intelligent, resourceful and hardworking person, and there is no asterisk because of his birthplace. *I* can still laugh at Kenneth's innocence. Why can't you?

Funny thing about Cleveland. It looks suspiciously like Battery Park City (in lower Manhattan). I guess that's because all the scenes from the 4/19 show featuring Liz, Floyd and Tracy that were supposedly set in Cleveland were actually filmed along the esplanade and on South End Ave. in Battery Park City (this is a neighborhood on the southwest tip of Manhattan that was created in the 1970's from landfill that was dug up when the World Trade Center was built). I guess the producers thought that the Hudson River could pass for Lake Erie, but how on earth could they think that South End Ave. looks anything like Cleveland? I saw "American Splendor". Now that looks like Cleveland. I would imagine there are parts of Staten Island or Queens that look a lot like Cleveland. But Battery Park City? I don't think so.

Uh, that really is Cleveland they showed.

I agree. Alec is the man.

I'm totally on his side. The best kids can sometimes **** the best parent off. I know because my son does it to me and I did it to my own father.

It's funny but in a twisted way his incident brought me back to the show. I saw the first one or two episodes and now this last one. I can't wait to catch up on-line here.

Thanks for making a great show. Does the cast and crew ever check in here?
marino316
I current live in Cleveland and that certainly was Cleveland they were showing.

Anyone know the actress who played Jack's mom?
ViciousValentines
I actually believe that Frog Man and Mrs. Sword are the same person. They both joined yesterday within a minute of each other and their member numbers are only one less of each other. So I think it was just a sad way to get one mans point across.

I LOVED this episode. And as a Jack/Liz shipper, I'm very pleased :-) Sean Hayes was hilarious! "I laughed so hard! I really riled up the wolfes!" Hehe. I LOVE Jack's mother and how dissapointed she looked when she saw Phoebe. Hehe, Jack's mom is a Jack/Liz shipper too, awww.

Did anyone else catch the nod to Futurama on last nights season finale. Jack's mouth was a total lift from Fry ... thanks for the nod Tina!!! great show!

Give me a freaking break. when did hillbilly appalachia become a sore topic for america. how many people know where the appalachians are anyway. (without 'google'ing or 'yahoo'ing)

thanks, 30 rock for being so pee-see

plus jack's mother is FREAKIN hilarous "tell him i love him, but not in a queer kinda of way"

my compliments to the chef

TOM: That's, I say, that's a rich one there, Hooter!

Oh, I'm a danger to myself and others.
My cousins are as close as brothers.
I stay out in the rain all the time!

CROW: He's a danger to himself and others.
Only likes shows with Sally Struthers.
I can't even think of a word that rhymes.

TOM: Ya just did!

JOEL: How dumb are you Uncle-Dad?

TOM: Well pretty dumb, that's for sure!

CROW: How dumb are you Uncle-Dad?

TOM: Well this pipe's filled with manure!

I current live in Cleveland and that certainly was Cleveland they were showing.

I wasn't referring to the stock footage shots of Cleveland landmarks like the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Jacobs Field or the International Denture Museum. I was referring only to the Cleveland scenes that featured Liz, Floyd and Tracy. Definitely Battery Park City.

I totally know where the OP is coming from. In the same episode, Liz is shocked how she looks and compares herself to Admiral Ackbar. When are Mon Calamari insults going to end?!?! Hasn't that species had to endure enough?

You just lost another viewer!!!!
eternalsunshine
me neither i can't wait.
i wonder what the next series has in store for us....

I want some more of Kenneth's juicy office gossip! that one about them shutting the elevator was a shocker! hehehehe
eternalsunshine
lol i loved his mum!
we've met the whole Donaghy family now, and even kennth's cousin - i really hope next season we'll get to see what Liz's family is like!
eternalsunshine
i didn't get that reference, i just thought it was a funny line.
but i love how 30 Rock constantly includes allusions to other shows and films. its real clever, especially how even if you don't get that it is a reference, you can still enjoy the joke in the context of the show.
geefunk
Wow,

If everyone is going to be super sensitive about everything, nothing will ever be funny.
Get over it and enjoy the great comedy.

It's always pretty easy to say when it's not about where you come from. 80% of West Vriginia is nothing like the way it is portrayed on television. Every other state has just as many hicks if not more. No matter what though if I say I'm from West Virginia I will get at least one stupid comment from a moron.
Chazzazz
Take it from an Eye-talian guy from Jersey - most of the country can be broken down into regional stereotypes. This show is loaded with them: the innocent farm boy, the hip-hop madman, the suit. It's still friggin funny. I'm not offended by the way Jersey Goombahs are portrayed on the Sopranos, and I'll whack anybody who says they are! To quote Paulie Walnuts "*&^%$!".

Coming next season to 30 Rock: Liz and Jack go to Fallujah, but the scenes are actually filmed in downtown Newark.

But only natives of Fallujah would be able to tell the difference.

I know how you feel. I had to stop watching a few NBC shows due to discrimination. Seinfeld, 30 Rock....apparently it's still okay to stereotype New Yorkers as high-strung and neurotic. I'd like to see them get away with stereotyping Canadians! Or Mid-westerners!

Stop the hate, NBC. It's just a matter of time before Rainbow Push Coallition looks your way and takes up the cause of regionalism in America.
ViciousValentines
Dear God please tell me that was sarcasm.

If I was actually that uptight I'd have to kill myself.

Wait...JACK AND LIZ!!?? You're kidding. laugh.gif
sanna_o75
Yep! And I think at least something nn ahappen, otherwise Tina would't have made Black Tie, for example, they way she made it and the finale the way she made it. Liz looked quite pleased when Jack told her that he was not getting married. If she wasn't interested at all, she would've said "Good for you, Jack!" or something like that, but she didn't say anything. Tina would've hade made Jack's mom mistake Phoebe and Liz and then get dissapointed when Phoebe arrived. Even Bianca in Black Tie saw that Jack looked her her in a special way. I thik there are many sign that says that something's gonna happen

Yo does anybody know what type/ brand of eyeglasses that Jack is wearing. I think his name is Jack however he is the heavy set white guy that wears the large/ big frame black glasses. Please let me know I so want to get a couple pairs of them (something similar to them). If anybody knows please tell me the brand and if possible the website I can get them from.

Thanks in advance,

Dave
yeoldesnlfan
Jack doesn't wear glasses. You're thinking of Frank (Judah Friedlander).
eternalsunshine
Liz and Jack? nooooooooooooooooo.

i like the Floydster!! (he was cute, and funny)

and i loved phoebe!! heheh "careful my bones"
eternalsunshine
lol, tut-tut
eternalsunshine
Frank's glasses are pretty old school. wouldn't really hold him up as a fashion icon myself... lol.
tweet2512
Yes I mean Frank and yes they are old school however they are coming back into style now or at least I like them so would you happen to know what brand they are?

Thanks again in advance.

I loved Jack's mom too. Perfect casting!

I usually post on the CI board, but had to jump over here for a quick question.....
I know Dean Winters recently had a guest arc on this show, and I was wondering if ANYONE knows where to write him.
Since he was killed off on rescue me, no one seems to have any info about him.
I have tried the FX message boards (buncha rude people over there), tried TV guide, don't know what else to do.
I hope ya'll can help.
If you need to, you can PM me the info.....
Thank you

Dear Fellow 30 Rock Enthusiasts, when Tina Fey's character Liz Lemon is at the subway on a day when the terror alert is high, and she consents to a search, the contents of her bag are rifled through and displayed. We catch a brief glimpse of a book entitled "You're Gonna Be Ok!" Does anyone know anything more about this book ? I have scoured Amazon, Google, and my local library and can't seem to find any information about this book.

Only thing I can think of is that it is not a "Real" book.

I think it's just one of those embarrassing (sp?) things that you'd just rather not have aired in public. Particuarly in that situation.

My advice? Don't fret too much about it. You're gonna be OK!
jjange68
Hello, Love the show. OK, In the episode where you are listing the reasons to break-up with that loser, and on the bad list you had; Likes the Family Guy. Are you not a fan of that show?. Just wondering that's all, for some sick reason I enjoy it. 38 male target audience?. Bye.

Based on the book's cover, I'd say it's a spoof on a very popular old self-helper called, "I'm OK, You're OK".
I just picked up Season One on dvd and the thing that really stands out is the cinematic quality of the whole show...right down to the excellent 5.1 sound mixing. This could easily be shown on the big screen. Very well crafted. "Webesodes". I'll never get over that one.
millburn1234
what is the episode number or name where Jack tells Lemon that " I have to take this call." on his pretend hand phone?

Thanks

I must've missed the episode with Fred Armisen in here in London. Does anyone know which show he featured in ?

Many thanks in advance
Regards

Surely someone over there caught his appearance. Any pointers on finding out which episode, or is it just rumour ?

Is Tina not going to consider Liz and Jack as a couple? Oh, might as well not. I know Frasier and Roz eventually parted ways (or rather, Frasier got another job outside Seattle in the end), even though they had drunk one-night stand in season 9. I would not like to see Liz and Jack endure that similar plotline.

John - I believe Fred Armisen played Liz's neighbor in the Season 2 epsiode "Somebody to Love."

Hey everyone! I am completely new to this show, just started watchin it because I loved Tina on SNL with her Palin impressions. But I was watching episodes from season one today and I picked up on a total Palin thing and was wondering if anyone else caught it. I found this hilarious because it was back in 2006 when we had no idea about Palin as VP. Tina was talking about loving the country and being patriotic, she was for electric cars and gays and then she looked at the camera and winked! It was the weirdest thing, my mom and I just sat there thinkin how on earth would they even think of adding a wink in there? It was a small thing that could have easily been left out but because of it, the whole conversation Lemon was having was so much better!

I absolutely love the show though, liz Lemon is an awesome character, a lot like myself actually. And I love Kenneth and Jack! This comedy is such a mood lifter I am so glad that I started watching it.
