I DO!!!

Yay, I'm so excited to find another F1 fan!! Our team is Ferrari and our driver is Raikkonen. Of course, it was Michael Schumacher, but now that he's retired... sad01.gif

Kubica is good. I always like it when he does well. I like Hamilton too. He is amazing. The only driver I cannot stand is Alonso. dry.gif It's a shame that Super Aguri had to leave the sport. sad.gif I hope another team takes their place.

I just started watching last year around this time. I never really kept track of it, untill my brother went up to Montreal to watch one of the races, and seen Kubica crash, like literally right in front of him (it was awesome!) and then it just caught my interest. I feel the same. Another fan! everyone else here likes NASCAR, which I personally hate, It has no purpose huh.gif
I love Raikonnen. Except for when he gets in front of Kubica tongue.gif.
Massa pissed me off. Isnt there like another sport he can go do that he actually has to try to win? Lol. It just seems to come to him effortlessly. Hamilton is another fantastic driver. Alonso, I don't like him either.
My team is BMW and my driver is Kubica!
Didn't Ferarri say they were thinking about buying Kubica?

For all those who follow European football, specfically(sp?) Champions League football:

United strike gold in shoot-out

Almost ten months after launching their season with a shoot-out victory over Chelsea FC, Manchester United FC repeated the feat in the UEFA Champions League final with Edwin van der Sar saving from Nicolas Anelka to take the trophy to Old Trafford for a third time.

High drama
Sir Alex Ferguson's team had prevailed 3-0 on penalties in the FA Community Shield on 5 August after a 1-1 draw but the prospect of a repeat looked distant when Cristiano Ronaldo headed them into a deserved 26th-minute lead. Chelsea equalised 19 minutes later through Frank Lampard, however, and they appeared more likely winners thereafter, Didier Drogba and Lampard both striking the woodwork.

Dreamland
Despite Drogba's dismissal for slapping Nemanja Vidić deep into extra time, the ten men had the ultimate prize within reach after Petr Čech's save from Ronaldo's penalty but John Terry fired wide at 4-4 when his kick would have clinched victory. Three conversions later, Van der Sar outwitted Anelka and United were in dreamland.

Ronaldo delight
Given this final featured the best two defences in the Premier League it was perhaps little surprise both sides began cautiously. Owen Hargreaves, making a lively start down United's right, gave an early test to Ashley Cole - fully recovered from an ankle injury suffered in training on Tuesday - by delivering two dangerous balls into the area and almost getting on the end of Ronaldo's left-wing centre. From the Portuguese international's second significant contribution, United were ahead. Wes Brown played a one-two with Paul Scholes on the right touchline and cut inside to deliver a deep cross to the far post, where Ronaldo peeled away from Michael Essien to nod his first goal against Chelsea, netting just inside Čech's right-hand post.

Tempo rising
Michael Ballack drove over from the edge of the box as Chelsea sought an instant response, but at the half-hour Avram Grant's men had managed just 38 per cent of possession. For all that, United's lead might have disappeared but for the reflexes of the 37-year-old Van der Sar, the Dutchman making an instinctive save at point-blank range to keep out Rio Ferdinand's inadvertent header under pressure from Ballack. The tempo was rising and within seconds, Chelsea could have fallen two behind at the other end. Wayne Rooney's fabulous long pass launched a counterattack from which Čech made stops to deny first Carlos Tévez's header then Michael Carrick's follow-up shot.

Lampard leveller
Tévez next passed up another presentable opening from Rooney's low right-wing centre and Chelsea took advantage of this profligacy on the stroke of half-time. Lampard reacted quickest to slip the ball beyond Van der Sar after Essien's speculative long-range effort had struck both Vidić and Ferdinand. Having got back into the game, Chelsea were eager to build on their equaliser and might have been in front within ten minutes of the restart. Florent Malouda sent Essien away down the right and the Ghanaian turned away from two defenders on the edge of the area, only to direct a left-foot attempt too high. Ballack then sliced wide as the United defence parted invitingly.

Drogba denied
Before kick-off, the United end of the ground had displayed a series of cards spelling out one simple message: Believe. With Ballack and midfield partner Lampard growing in influence, however, that conviction now seemed exclusively Chelsea's and they came closer than ever to a second goal with 12 minutes left when Drogba, out of nothing, curled a shot from 25 metres beyond Van der Sar but off the goalkeeper's left-hand upright. Ryan Giggs came on after 87 minutes to make a record-breaking 759th United appearance, yet with tension setting in neither side were willing to risk defeat and commit men forward.

Overtime tension
Still, Chelsea continued to look more enterprising and early in extra time they rattled the woodwork again as Ashley Cole and Ballack set up Lampard for an improvised shot that came back off the bar with Van der Sar beaten. Terry then blocked Giggs's goalbound strike after Patrice Evra's low centre had taken Čech out of the game. The ebb and flow of attacks continued, with the only advantage gained being United's after Drogba was dismissed for raising a hand to Vidić. That seemed not to matter when Ronaldo missed United's third kick of the shoot-out, but Chelsea's moment passed with Terry's slip and Van der Sar's subsequent glory-grabbing save.

ManUre simply got lucky. If Drogba had not been sent off for slapping Vidic & had John Terry's foot not slid under him as the took the PK, Chelsea would be the winners. I mean, I don't support either teams (I'm a Gooners fan) but I can handle Chelsea much better. I would've loved to see Ronaldo being the reason ManUre lost. He would go from hero to zero in seconds & the English media would crucify him. I mean, I respect him as a player because his skills are fantastic but his attitude turns me off.

On another note, 15 more days until Euro Cup biggrin.gif! The tourney will kick off Saturday, June 7th will host team Switzerland following the Czech Republic? Will the Czechs win the first match of the tourney or will luck & possibly the refs ensure that the first victory goes to the home team? Here are the groups, & * means the two teams from each group that I believe will advance, my predictions:

Group A:

Czech Republic
Portugal*
Switzerland
Turkey*

Group B:

Austria
Croatia*
Germany*
Poland

Group C:

France*
Italy
Netherlands
Romania*

Group D:

Greece*
Russia
Spain
Sweden*

I predict that Croatia, the darkhorses of the tourney, will become Euro 08 champions & I'm not just saying that because I'm half Croatian. They proved their skill, depth & talent in the qualifying round, especially against England & especially in their final qualifying match. Watch Billic & co. overcome any "obstacles" to win the trophy. You heard it hear first cool.gif. I said the same thing for Greece in 04' & *boom*, who were champions? Hellas, that's who cool.gif. Don't mess with Hellas & don't mess with Hrvatska, the current & future champs biggrin.gif!
prettyinpink86
laugh.gif I think I killed this thread. Are they no other Euro football fans here blink.gif? Anyway, Greece begins there group stage match in two weeks against Sweden. I predict a 3-1 win over the Swedes with goals by Gekas, Basinas & Katsouranis. I know there are people who are doubting Greece but they seem to forget that a. Greece are the current Euro champions & b. Greece finished the Euro 08 qualifying campaign with 31 points, which 1 loss, 1 tie & the rest wins. Greece was the only team to finish in the 30 point catergory while every other team completed the qualifying round with 29 or less points. And best of all, everyone knows we are cool.gif!

I can't wait till tomorrow, Poland vs. Germany. It's going to be one hell of a match. Poland has to beat Germany this time once and for all!

Oh, and the Portugal vs. Turkey match is AMAZING. They are playing really well. Turkey especially. Too bad its 1-0 Portugal.
Wedd329
I don't know if they made a big deal of this nationally, but Big Brown did not win the Belmont Stakes (held her in NYC) so there was no Triple Crown winner. So what? The media is acting like this is some huge upset. Almost every year 120,000+ people (my brothers included) crowd into Belmont looking to see history and it never happens. 120,000+ drinking all day on a 95 degree day. Every year we get invited and Tom says maybe and I say no way. laugh.gif

Anyway, my point is, he didn't win. It's not the end of the world, although the New York media might have you believe it is.
prettyinpink86
Hahaha I love how Greece still doesn't get no recongintion(sp) from most sports writers even though Greece is the current Euro Cup champs. We were the only team to beat Portugal (twice!!) on their home soil, plus cruise by France & the Czech Republic without letting in a goal. Nikopolidis was easily the best goaltender in the 04 tourney. Only allowed 4 goals in 6 matches, One paper even wrote "but this is a no-name bunch without the talent to get out of it's group" lol. I guess that the paper didn't realize that a team doesn't need of well known players to win a cup. After all, most big teams tend to choke in big tourneys. There are lots of team with star players who don't even perform that well anyway. Anyway, I'm glad other teams still underestimate Greece. Theo Zagorakis may be gone from the squad but we have guys like Samaras & Gekas to replace him, plus other players from the 2004 winning squad. An underdog/darkhorse team will come out, surprise everyone & win the cup! Maybe than will other teams besides Spain, France, Italy, Germnay, Portugal etc get some respect! Impossible is nothing!

Nope.
I am so pissed off. Podlaski is a polak, born and raised, but he's part of the German team. He scored BOTH goals. Betrayer.
So, Poland made ONE goal, but it didnt count.
Poland is standing around the field expecting the game to plan its self out in front of them. Your playing agianst...Germany. The best european team out there, and your not even trying to get the fricken ball?!

Wow. Just, wow. What a depressing & surprising match between Sweden & Greece. How the effinhg heck were Greece expected to score if they keep passing the ball back & forth towards the attack four. Go forward & attack the d@mn Swedish offence mad.gif. Shoot at the net! We had so many chances that we could've capitalized on. Playing defensive style soccer isn't gonna get any goals. I mean, we play counter attack *after* Sweden scores their two goals. It should've been like that from minute one. In order to even hold our own against Russia & Spain, we gotta change the lineup & formation. Otherwise, it'll be a first round exit. Here's hoping Spain demolishes Sweden this saturday while Greece beats Russia. Than hopefully Greece will win over Spain next Wednesday while Russia beats Sweden. It is only the first game & I refuse to lose faith. Greece will not bow down to anyone anymore! I want to see the recreation of 300 on the pitch for the next two matches! PAME ELLADA PAME!!!!

Mets fire Willie Randolph

The Mets are my team and all, but they handled this horribly. You make a guy fly cross country to Anaheim, tell him if you win you keep your job, he wins the game and then you fire him three hours after the game is over? You fire him at 3am New York time, no less? Come on. That's just wrong.

And not for anything, I'm not a big believer in it all being the manager's fault. They don't play the games for the team. This team has no interest in playing these games and I don't know anyone who can change that.

So in closing, let me say this: My team sucks.

I wouldn't say I was rooting for anyone, but it would have been nice to see Rocco win. I will admit that there are some things about Tiger that I don't care for that aren't golf related. We watched the last 4 holes at work yesterday, so it was nice little break.

I don't like that Tiger only plays like 13 tournaments a year.

But my hatred of Tiger is because of the media and their coverage on him. He is not the best golfer ever and it really irritates me when he is something like 15th place and they show more of his shots then all of the golfers ahead of him combined.
