Could be worse - he was hot by 80's standards. I had a huge crush on him back then.

HA - I had to look from home tonight because I couldn't see where the banana hammock comment was coming from on my work computer. THAT is just funny as h'ell, ADA!!!

Cvl - I'm glad to see that you received the proper interventional treatment to heal so well following your confessed 80's affliction. I, myself, needed two bad post-Purple Rain albums in a row to recover from mine. Family - It is just soooo vitally important to receive their support when times are tough... just soooo vitally important *sigh*

Yup Naydi, also known as the beginning of the end for me as an X-files fan, because it was all written around Duchovny leaving/doing less episodes. But that`s besides the point, sorry! I need to read back to read the X-files comment biggrin.gif.

Did I mention I love the way this thread has turned out biggrin.gif.

Who says I recovered? When I'm not here or on the Reel, I'm on A-Team sites (yes, there is a twelve-step program, no I haven't gotten past step 1 rolleyes.gif ).

I'd stopped watching X-Files waaay before then, but you've gotta love the moves made for TV big fishes with dreams of movie stardom!!

One thing that's always bothered me with that whole ego phenomenon, and the failure that goes along with it, is that David Caruso was mocked visciously for leaving NYPD Blue to "become a movie star". It's amazing how every single entertainment reporting outlet across the US decided to come together in faux amnesia blatantly ignoring the fact that the man started out in movies in the first d'amn place!!! I saw him in King of New York yeeeeaaaarrs before NYPD Blue was even on the air.

'course, none of any of this has dook to do with Vincent or LOCI, but I just thought I'd take this opportunity to put forth the rare 'public' comment defending David Caruso! gotta love your fellow man... wink.gif

Hi-dee;

I just got a lovely PM, but I can't reply to the person who sent it because that part of my board access was the last to go and, apparently, will be the last to come back. ('skampyyyyy - Help! sad.gif ) A very important question was raised within this private note, though, which shuddered me to my soul to not try to address immediately via the only method currently available:

No, my friend. I am not a David Caruso fan.

Ha - haaaaaaaaaaaa!! laugh.gif laugh.gif I did feel really bad for the guy for getting unfairly beat up by the media like that, though; especially behind such a convenient historical lie......

As much fun as I'm having, we've got to get this thread back on Vincent at some point...

Okay, one more: Cvl, I'm here for you. I thought kicking Hasselhoff was a major step in and of itself, but I didn't know you had it so bad. Dirk Benedict. That, that's just a h'ell of a thing... Just remember, the first step is recognizing that you have a problem. It's all step by step, day by day, my friend. And just know that, yes, I did let the purple elf go, but, it was just as hard for me to turn away from the MacGyver MasterCard commercial as it was to not turn to USA for the reruns back in the day... I did it, though - You can too!!!

Yup, had the MacGyver thing goin' on too. But the A-Team issue is worse than you think. It wasn't Dirk Benedict...it was (and still is) Dwight Shultz.

Hey, at least he can act.

Okay, folks, we now return you to your regularly scheduled Vincent thread.
Seraphina
Since sometimes getting off topic is just impossible to prevent and I heard that we were allowed to start an off topic thread, I thought I`d kick off with this one smile.gif.

Now, a major problem for an off topic thread is that the choice of subjects is only limited by the subject of the board, in this case LOCI, which leaves a rough estimation of 1000000000000000000 if not more subjects to talk about. Don`t get me wrong, I truly doubt it will be a problem for us here to fill up this precious part of the world wide web, but still, making a first post is really kind of hard blink.gif. Sort of. A little. Not really acutally rolleyes.gif .

To just jump into an off topic discussion somewhere on this board about kicking the habit of Dirk Benedict/Dwight Shultz/David Hasselhoff....mine was David Duchovny/X-files. DD I was over pretty quickly, but the X-files, I still have to force myself to not watch when I find it`s on tv (which is always at the most impossible time of the evening, also known as my bed time mad.gif ). And I miss the online community...

And, because I really don`t want this to be a coherent post, I thought it`d be interesting to do a little round of a/s/l (age/sex/location)? Obviously asking those questions makes me obligated to go first so: 21/female/the Netherlands.

Let`s get off topic people cool.gif !
naydi

<heh heh>

What?!? Was the online community built not stronger than the faux life of the show? ****, there's another board I frequent where the band hasn't put out anything in over two years and the nuts couldn't care less... tongue.gif That's the bad thing about strictly limiting discussion just to the entertainment/er, it/themself. There's multiples of hundreds of posts per day in this board's general discussion section, some of it pretty interesting, pertinent, and/or breaking news. I'd been studying in silence so deeply that particular exam day, that it wasn't until taking a mental break to send an email to my boss (asking for the next day off, too, for a written assignment from the weekend's clinical time that there was no possible way of doing for the next class lest I learned to break the laws of time and space... waaaaaay too much going on this month... i'm convinced the school is trying to kill us) that I found out about the Corey Lidle plane crash in NYC. I'd just happened to swing by the board to be nosy for a second. Reading about the whole thing shocked the h'll out of me, because just what was happening was still unknown. But anyway, what the h'll is my point??? I'ono... I don't even think X-Files is replayed up here anymore, unless it's on Sci Fi. Loved that channel when it came out. Then it went from have "real" movies and TV shows to playing bad, made for sci fi junk and stuff like Stargate and such, so I just lost all interest. But, X-Files; I can't even remember when or why I got to the point of -oookay, I'm done... Might have had something to do with all the bees or something, or was that in the X-Files movie that I never actually saw? More than likely what killed it for me was the hype. I hate hype. I hate being told what I should and shouldn't enjoy. It's just so intrusively annoying to me. The Matrix got me because I saw it by accident during a period where I was consciously ignoring all media outlets. A cleansing period, if you will. A friend asked me to go to the movies, I said sure, she picked the movie, I left saying D'AMN! Had I actually been paying attention to the media at the time, I wouldn't have gone to see it. So, I think that's it. I more than likely got sick of hearing everybody and their mother talking about the X-Files to the point that it lost all appeal to me.

Do you remember American Gothic?? Gary Cole was the man for a hot second.

Even after he went and lost his **** mind....

But he has recovered quite nicely....

Read something about Vincent actually considering playing Fred Flinstone for a second. Glad the effect of the mind control drugs slipped into his Folgers before the death-defying escape from the guerillas or whatever massive blow to the head he must have suffered around that the time wore off when it did... There'd have been NO recovering from that sh't!!!! Just none

I haven't seen an episode in yeeeeaaaars.... hmmm, going to have to check out Netflix to see if they've got it... Now, THERE'S a show that should be playing on the Sci Fi... I'd watch it. Think it's related to NBC somehow maybe via the Universal or General Electric (or Westinghouse?) parent company thingie. Pass it on - if anyone reading is someone who might care!!! cool.gif

You know, I really don't watch much TV beyond LOCI, Discovery, Animal Planet, Science Channel, Bravo and the like. Did just add TBS to the DVR mix though, after finding out one early that one of "my show"s is on the air over there. Roger Waters' voice scared the h'ell out of me, but I still loved Another Brick in The Wall anyway; for the music even more than the words - i actually liked school then... The drawings from Gerald Scarfe on the fold out double-album cover? Scared the living bejeezuz out of me beyond the point of words, but I couldn't help but keep staring at them whenever I could - each and every time that I could... It was around the same time that I kept seeing those freaky-a@@ Funkadelic album covers during the holidays at my grandmothers... Um hummm - you know which ones I'm talking about... Then, come 80-whenever when the commercial for The Wall movie was on TV? The baseline, the darkness of all the shots and that part where he's standing in the tunnel and the train went by and everyone had on were wearing those blank "Pink" face masks? Scarred for life, I was...

ba&tard geniuses...

...someone please hold me

EDIT: Oh - if you're wondering just what in the H'ELL I'm doing here in the 9o'clock hour... I'm not used to being home on Tuesdays... Gotten rather comfortable watching LOCI with the ability to scan through the commercials!! I'll be burning CD's til 10...

That's right, Ipods - You go to h'll; you go to h'll and you die!

Spent 9th grade math writing down all the lyrics from The Wall, Dark Side, and Wish from memory (along with some Tull). Got my uncle to sneak me into a midnite showing of the film at the Senator theater in Baltimore when they first put in THX. Went to the laser show at the planetarium as one my first junior-high dates. Had the 4'x4' glow-in-the-dark banner on the ceiling above my bed. And saw them at the Rosebowl in college.

See? It's not our fault we're such messed up people. smile.gif

(though I hate to end it here - oh, it'll come back... don't you fret none..)

And the Winner of best line from today's series of sick and twisted story-telling:

Hum? I know, where did everybody go? I'm not hearing sirens or anything... Hey, Seraph!! Come. Join us.

You won't feel a thing.

(on a side note: I've still managed not to have anyone come strolling through my railway car of an office space at the wrong time during uncut plays of Thom Yorke's Black Swan or Tool's Aenema... they've already blocked on online radio... now i'd like to see all our CD drives systematically ripped out!)
