I think it was Closer to Fine by The Indigo Girls....

Closer to Fine by The InDIGo GIRLS. I went to the same college as them a few years later and it was quite the anthem among a certain female demographic. Which makes it all that more hysterical that Andy and Jim (who could've been matress mates) were singing it. tongue.gif

Uncle Shags
I was watching tonights episode (11/2/06) and heard a song that had also caught my attention on NPR (just a transitional clip) a few days ago. I believe it was the first song played in the background at the party (even shorter than the NPR clip). The only way I can think of describing it further is that it is a man singing/chanting, and his voice gets a bit vibrato (I think that's the word).

I realize this is a random request but it sounded so soothing both times I heard it I figured I'd give it a shot. Since it was on NPR and The Office I thought it might be something that is recently popular enough that people in the know might have heard of it.

If no one can help with the specific song does anyone have any suggestions on how I could find out? Episode credits or something?

Thanks

Uncle Scaggs:

The song you mentioned is "Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna" from the Bollywood movie, "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge." Here's a youtube link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Of23ZO80F1s

It is my absolute favorite bollywood movie of all time and one of my favorite movies period (and I'm just your average straight white guy). Every song in that movie is a winner. I flipped when I heard it playing at the party. Although I shouldn't be surprised: It's in the Guiness Book of World Records as the longest showing movie in history. It showed (I think it's still there) in the same Mumbai theater for over 10 years straight!

Check it out!

The only ones I'm missing are:
Stars by Lamar (from the Jim and Pam season 3 promo)
Girls Gone Wild-Captain Ahab (playing in background during Michales 308 party)

If anyone could direct me to where I could find them that'd be great. And I could only find slower lyrical versions of little drummer boy, none as 'alert' as the one dwight does.
Supersix4
We also need to know the metal song playing in Dwight's car when he was taking Ryan to his beetfarm in "Initiation".
tacotaco
Hey, this is a very useful thread smile.gif

Now can anyone tell me what song was playing in Diwali, when Pam and Michael were outside talking on the steps? You can hear it well if you crank the volume a bit. I really want to know what song that is, it sounds great smile.gif

Dwight Schrute: I have been Michael's number two guy for about five years, and we make a great team. We're like one of those classic famous teams. He's like Mozart and I'm like Mozart's friend. No, I'm like Butch Cassidy and Michael is like Mozart. You try and hurt Mozart, you're gonna get a bullet in your head, courtesy of Butch Cassidy.

He eats tootsie rolls off Angela's desk while he's putting together the Saturday work schedule in "Basketball."
She says something like one per person, and he implies he can have her work this Saturday if she's got a problem. laugh.gif How did she ever end up dating him?

Air Supply's "All Out Of Love" was supposedly playing while Pam and Michael were in her car at the end of the Diwali episode. I could not hear it myself but if you put the caption/text on that's what it says so technically I dunno if that counts.......

Can somebody help me finding the song that your hear right after Pam arrives to the Diwali party? You see some Indians with their hands in the air when it's on.

I'm danish, sorry. unsure.gif

I'm pretty sure the song playing when Michael is spitting out his samosa is the song "Ek Ladki Ko Dekha" from the Bollywood film 1942: A Love Story. Just happens to be the only Hindi song I know; imagine my surprise to hear it on this episode! Here's the youtube link. Tell me if you think I'm right.
