No matter how hard Toby tries, he just cant catch a break.

Let's revisit some of Toby's folies.

1. When Katy was interested in him, Michael Cock_Blocked him.

2.He tries to establish a cool new affectation (the respeck knuckles) and Jim shuts him down.

3. He tries to ask out Pam, and the phone rings.

4. He tries to maintain confidentiality of disputes and Michael "Gets it all out in the open"

5. He tries to get a birthday donut and Michael shuts him down.

6. He legitimately tries to help Michael with personel issues and Michael does the opposite.

7. He tries to point out that hookah is not a drug and he gets his hair blood and urine tested for drugs

8. The people on these boards just think he is autistic and/or creepy.

Really the only time he ever wins any battle is when he takes Michael's money playing Texas Hold'em.

Don't forget his plans to move to Costa Rica were cut short when the Scranton branch stayed open. Poor Toby, Costa Rica will still be there. . . .when he's 65.

That is really creepy. In a book i was reading not ten minutes ago, someone was calling Shiva to attack a Caliph.

Count me as one of folks who thinks Toby is a cool guy (neither autistic or creepy). If you want creepy, think about Meredith.

9. Michael thinks Toby isn't a part of the REAL staff. He sends him out of diversity day for an "racist comment"

10. Michael hates so much about the things Toby chooses to be.

11. Toby can't seem to get out of the shadow of his divorce.

12. Toby gets the job of explaining the female anatomy to Dwight (perhaps the worst task of all).

I love Toby, in one thread I even said that I would make out with him or have 100 babies wih him.

When Toby gets shut down sometimes he gets out of annoying stuff and that is catching a break.
He didnt have to sit through Diversity Day Part 2 or go on the Booze Cruise. Good break!

I think he might have caught a break (or at least wasn't put down) when he gave his sexual harassment speach and everyone clapped. Then he even made a joke about Pam's mom, which went over well.

I've always liked Toby, and have been able to relate to him in more than one way. He's just a normal guy trying to get by with his life as best he can. He's one of my favorite characters on the show.

Roy, did you steal that hat from Pam? Or do you both shop in the same stores?

Oh, and some of Toby's misfortune is his own fault. I mean all the cr*p he takes from Michael. . . Who else in the office would take that amount of humiliation? Michael isn't even his boss.
Also, he's solely responsible for not asking Pam out when he found out she was dating again.
Jeeze Toby, take a page from Angela's book of "wisdom" and grow a pair.

On the other hand, Toby is definitely familiar with the passive-aggressive approach. By "missing" the Booze Cruise, ducking out of the warehouse activities during Boys and Girls, classic Toby. Taking the opportunity to tell Michael that he knew about the branch closing just before Michael did was a golden opportunity to put Michael in his place, and of course taking his money on Casino Night, (lady luck helped him there).

I hope Toby's chasing that feeling. . .

IMO Toby got a lucky break when the phone interrupted him from asking Pam out. That way he did not have to go through the humiliation of being shot down and he can still talk to her without it being too awkward. Also, when Toby was telling Pam about his 7 minute mile, she stood up for him against Dwight. It's a little victory, but at least it puts a smile on his face when he talks to Pam.

I had actually taken out my little notebook and pencil and begun another chapter of MixedBerries Investigations. I'd followed the trail of red hats to just outside the James Gunn myspace page. Thanks for the final clue.

Don't see him catching many breaks so to speak, but he does have the one thing Michael desperately wants and has almost zero chance of getting--his co-workers like him and respect his values. They seem to like him just the way he is. He doesn't have to smack Michael down verbally, just showing Michael facts does it for him.

I really like Toby. However, having the girl you like having to take up for you is probably not going to get you a date with her. Soooo, Toby and Karen? I think they would be perfect together.
