Yea...Oscar made an appearance, though briefly. What a clever, funny episode, full of humor, drama and angst (Toby to Dwight: "we talked about this, for like half an hour...)
Fechin
Yeah Oscar was great in last nights show even if it was 5 seconds long LOL biggrin.gif

I have missed Oscar so much this season and it was just so great to see him for however brief a moment. And honestly, they could not have come up with a funnier line for him. laugh.gif

No offense, what have you missed?

He's not very funny or intriguing.

Thank you! I think that Oscar's line on Thursday was probably the funniest thing I've heard him say out of all 3 seasons. He's just kinda boring.

I guess some people have been too blinded by Jam to notice the awesome supporting cast. Might I recommend watching Diversity Day, Drug Testing, Conflict Resolution, Michael's Birthday (in particular the hilarious shot of Oscar ice-skating), Valentine's Day, Gay Witch Hunt (probably his best line ever: "Yes I am super cool. I work at a failing paper supply company ... in Scranton ... much like Sir Ian McKellan").rolleyes.gif

Also, I'm not sure why you thought it was necessary to come into a thread for Oscar fans just to sh!t on them and belittle the pleasure they find in this character.

The forum takes all types.

Although you have to think that someone who confidently declares that an opinion is wrong must have some sort of special, magical, inside knowlege in order to make such an arrogant assertion...

Don't forget the Webisodes in which Oscar has some great stuff... I've compiled all of them here:

Rubmeister
Well, Oscar is an office-er....he's one of the gang...although I didn't really missed him in the episodes...mainly because he had an suporting kind of job as just being there..., but don't forget Stanford does not know he works there and is gay and he does not know that Andy has his desk....and this is season 3....... tongue.gif

I like Oscar and all, and I am glad he's back, but he's not my favorite character. I actually think Jan and Kelly are both funnier - Jan because she's so impulsive and yet tightly wound, and Kelly because she's so spacy. Oscar is good to have on the show because he's so normal and will stand up to people, but other than that he's not very interesting.
Stapler
That little tease with Oscar was a funny way to prepare us for his return in January. Two little words = big laugh!

It was funny because earlier in the night I had thought, "I miss Oscar. Can't wait for him to come back." And then there he was!

Rating the "funny" of a character is nothing but subjective. So you find every other character more funny than Oscar ... good for you. I happen to find Oscar a lot funnier and more entertaining than Meredith, Josh, and Creed, and would put him on the same level as Kevin. But that's just me and you know what, I'm not the one trying to force feed their views on others, so why don't you leave me, Oscar, and other Oscar fans alone? If you don't like him, the only reason for you posting in this thread must be an attempt to pick a fight with people who do like him.
L&Owhore
I'm being rude and immature when letsgotochilis is the one that is putting me down for liking Oscar? Sorry, Pam but I was the one that was pointing out that everyone has their different likes and dislikes. How was that rude or immature?

Everyone is entitled to their opinions and the freedom to express them, whether positive or negative. Who says this thread is only for people who love Oscar? Sorry if you can't handle if someone's opinion differs from yours. Doesn't give you the right to be rude. Grow up.

I'm sorry. Didn't mean to offend. Thats why I starting my first post with "No offense."

I was just curious about why you like Oscar. Appartently you find him funny. I'm not a big fan. They removed him for several episodes and I barely noticed.

And...You accussed me of instigation? The thread is talking about Oscar's return. My view on the subject is negative. Your's isn't. You used profanity (sh!t) I was just asking a question and stating my answer to said question. Three people (DawnTinsley, Rubmeister, and mambo no. 5) said he was boring or not interesting.

I enjoyed his line in Benihana.
I don't really like him.
I'm just saying what I think.
Sorry, for whatever I did to offend you because I have no idea what it actually was.

the dude who plays oscar has a huge reputation as a great improv performer and maybe they just dont give him much to do, i mean his biggest moment was him being outed and then he's gone for half a season, maybe they are getting ready to break oscars character into big funny...
or maybe letsgotochilis is homophobic and just lashing out, maybe out of hate, it could be out of love, it could be completely neutral...

I don't see chilis putting you down anywhere. He asked "No offense, what are you missing?" That gives you a chance to say what you like about Oscar. I wouldn't take that as a personal affront.

no.
I just honestly can't think of an Oscar line (other than the other night) that me me laugh. Why? idk.
Officeholic
Everyone has their own opinions that they take seriously on each character. We all have those we love, like and dislike. I will remind everyone about a few rules via Officionada smile.gif

Rule 1: Remember the Human

Re-read what you've written before you post. Ask yourself if you would say that to someone's face. If not, you should probably revise. Also, remember that once you post, others can quote you (the Diapers principle), immortalizing your words in their post. You can delete your own post, but can't redact it entirely if it appears in quotes in someone else's post.

Rule 2: Adhere to the same standards of behavior online that you follow in real life

Use good manners and don't break the law. Malfeasance for malfeasance's sake will not be tolerated in The Office forum.

Please agree to disagree

Thank you

just so we're clear i was referencing the carpet episode, not actually insinuating letsgotochilis is homophobic.
i also think that as of right now from what ive seen out of him i find him boring

sorry dude, i should have thought about that first.

seriously though i love this forum, everyone is really nice 99.9% of the time, unlike other forums where it has no real decency rules.

me or oscar?

Here's a link to a topic I started over the summer break about Oscar. I asked people to tell me what was funny about him. There are some good examples of times when Oscar was funny.

"Is Oscar Ever Funny?"
resorbedfetus
just so we're clear i meant oscar was boring, but im hoping they bring more of him in because i think his reputation as a performer makes me think they havent given him much material...
L&Owhore
Forgive me for taking "A Glimmer of Hope" to have a decidedly positive connotation. It seemed pretty clear to me this was a thread for people to post their excitement about Oscar's return. And clearly all debate about whether or not he is funny would go in the "Is Oscar Ever Funny" thread (and not in this thread, otherwise it should be merged). Therefore I took major offense to letsgotochilis seeming challenge of my preference in a thread which to me clearly wasn't meant as a debate thread. As for my responses, I do not have any problem with them being quoted and requoted as I see nothing wrong with them at all. They were not meant to be rude and I do not see anything rude in them. I do however take offense to the direct insults aimed my way.
Gareth_Schrute_1
Any thread about Oscar will attract negative responses cause he's one of the least liked characters.

But I have to say Oscar is one of my favorites, and I'm looking forward to his return.
L&Owhore
^I guess I just haven't been in enough Oscar threads to know that.

Anywho, Letsgotochilis, those episodes I listed earlier would be my reasons for liking him. Ultimately, like I said it's a subjective thing and I've never tried to disuade you of your opinion nor will I ever. I'm sorry to you for reading a much more negative tone in your post than you meant, and if you felt that I was rude and inflamatory to you, I'm sorry because you honestly just took me off guard. I didn't expect to have to explain/defend my like for Oscar in this thread.
letsgotochilis
ok, i'll leave

ADAMaloney I love your Pam/Jim/Karen signature!

On the Office Oscar's a straight man and he's perfect for the role.

But he was HILARIOUS as "Spanish Mike" Alvarez on Reno 911!
scottyskater77
I literally cheered when I saw Oscar! And I loved how Gil was going to attend the party with him now that they're out of the closet. Good stuff! biggrin.gif

Thanks. I think Mit! is using that for his signature right now, so I decided to change to this one. That's a pic of my friend "Soup". I was filming him and if you look in the bottom right hand corner you can see my shadow. I'm so mysterious.... laugh.gif

Not to be confused with Prison Mike.

Wasn't he the one that got Trudy to come out of her shell? She started wearing bright lipstick and smokey bedroom eyeshadow. Then she fell into a miserable heap when he left her.

Yeah, that was pretty good.
Cate the Great
I like him. cool.gif He is needed because The Office needs some sane people other than Pam and Jim.

Can't we all just get along? wub.gif

Thanks, I had to literally stop everything and make this signature while I was watching the show for the third time and the idea hit me. It looks better when it's bigger so you can really see Jim's face, but I'm happy with it smile.gif

i too cheered when oscar came back. Looking forward to the interaction between him and angela again.

The reason I started this thread was that Oscar was missed by a lot of us fans back in September. He left abruptly in that infamous episode "Gay Witch Hunt." He was the other "normal" guy, or in his words "Sir Ian McKellan." So his little cameo at Christmas, with all the Stamford/Scranton brouhaha, his appearance was welcome. Only he wasn't down with that either..."it's too soon." Oh Oscar, please put Andy and Hannah in their places. We know you'll be back in January.
6_foot_cord
Oh, and by the way, Oscar is ALWAYS funny. Just in smart, small doses.
