One of the most important things you need to know:
- The purpose of this message board is to discuss the show with other fans. We have no concrete information as to whether anyone from NBC or "Late Night" reads this board and cannot assume that they do. Sorry sad.gif However, if you would like to find out how to contact the show, keep reading! biggrin.gif

Frequently Asked Questions about "Late Night with Conan O'Brien":

How can I contact Conan or the show?
Based on past experience, the best way to contact Conan or the show is by sending a letter the old-fashioned way to:
Late Night with Conan O'Brien
30 Rockefeller Plaza
New York, NY 10112

Another option is using the online NBC feedback form (select "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" from the list of shows).

How can I get tickets to Late Night?
By calling the NBC Ticket Line @ (212)664-3056. The ticket line is open from Monday - Friday, 10am - 5pm Eastern Time. They only reserve tickets for certain days at a time, so it's best to check the ticket line each day to see what dates are available.

Further info about tickets can be found at the Tickets to the Show section of this website. There you'll find info such as how old you have to be to get into a show (16), cost (free), and standby ticket info. You'll see that tickets are also supposedly booked online, but this is rarely done.

Who will the guests on the show be this week?
The Late Night TV Page has the lineup. That website gets its information from NBC Universal Media Village press releases.

Who were the guests on the show on (insert date/month/year here)?
Lists of past guests can be found at NBC's Show Archive and Conan-OBrien.net's Episode Guide.

Where can I find a clip of (insert comedy bit/guest/band here) from a past show?
Since "Late Night" has been on the air for 14 years, it's hard to find every clip. However, the main NBC "Late Night" page has several
highlight video clips available in the Videos section, as does NBC's spin-off site dotcomedy.com.
Update - Recently, NBC has started putting licenced clips on YouTube. The clips on the site change all the time, but usually the clips are some of the most recent bits on the show. It never hurts to check!

How do I submit my jokes/sketch ideas to the show?
Due to various legal reasons, the show does not accept comedy material such as jokes or sketch ideas from fans. NBC.com's Terms of Use policy states:
"Submissions
NBC is pleased to hear from users and welcomes your comments regarding NBC's programs and services. NBC's longstanding company policy does not allow it to accept or to consider creative ideas, suggestions, or materials other than those it has specifically requested. We hope that you will understand that the intent of this policy is to avoid the possibility of future misunderstandings when projects developed by NBC's employees and agents might seem to be similar to creative works submitted by users. Accordingly, while we value your feedback, we must ask that you do not send original creative materials."
For further info click here.
The only exception to the "no submission" rule is http://www.hornymanatee.com (note- you will have to read a legal release before submitting any manatee-related content to the site.)
Also, please do not post any scripts, sketches/jokes, band websites, etc. on this board.

Is Conan really taking over "The Tonight Show" in 2009?
Yes, Jay Leno announced Conan as his successor on "The Tonight Show" in September of 2004.

Will Conan move to LA when he takes over "The Tonight Show", or will he remain in NY?
Unknown

Will The Max Weinberg 7 go to "The Tonight Show" with Conan?
Unknown

Who will take over "Late Night" when Conan leaves?
Unknown

Anything we didn't cover? Feel free to ask in this thread! Many of the members of this message board have accumulated unhealthy amounts of "Late Night"-related knowledge over the years, so we'll do our best to use it to your advantage.

Also, please be sure to read the NBC message board rules/guidelines before posting. smile.gif

Do you think Conan reads his fanmail or keeps stuff people send him? Also, do you think he gets a lot? I want to send him a letter! biggrin.gif Is there a specific address for each person or is it just sent to the show alltogether? Thanks!

Do you think Conan reads his fanmail or keeps stuff people send him? Also, do you think he gets a lot?

I don't know for sure, but I think how it works is one or both of Conan's assistants (Todd Blass and Laurie Scollar) read his fanmail and give him things that particularly stand out. I don't think he really sees the typical "I love you, Conan" letters since I do think he gets a lot of fan mail, so if you want to write a letter, make sure you think it stands out. smile.gif

If you want to send a letter to Conan, this is the most specific address I have:
Conan O'Brien
c/o Late Night with Conan O'Brien
30 Rockefeller Plaza
Suite 901 West
New York, NY 10112

If you want to send mail to different people at the show, you'd just change the name on the first line. smile.gif

I can attest that Conan does keep things people send to him. laugh.gif I sent him a really big birthday card last April (it was actually from a bunch of people at a different Conan board, but I was in charge of putting it together), and I didn't hear anything back from Conan about it. But I later saw it in Conan's office on a sketch that was on the show on September 7, 2006 laugh.gif:

The card was behind Conan's chair, on the far left, behind the paper mache Conan head that he got from the White Stripes. You can only see the top of the card. I didn't even notice it, but I had posted pictures of the card for everyone to see since it was from all of us, and someone on the message board spotted/recognized it during this sketch and then told me. It made my life that he still even had it -- let alone that it was in his office -- 5 months after I sent it! biggrin.gif Yet another reason why I can never not love Conan! wub.gif

The screen cap and the top of my pic of the card side by side:

Does anyone know the name of the band that ended the Conan show on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning? I think they were great and want to get their CD, but I didn't get their name.

Thanks very much.

Does anyone remember the Jesus figurines Conan had on the show a LONG time ago. I always wanted the "****-fighting Jesus", but nothing. How can I get my hands on one of those? That's a four letter word for a rooster by the way!
severina80
I have no idea what you're talking about, but any of the figurines Conan has on the show are one of a kind props. The only "doll" you can get is the Triumph talking doll.

Actually at least most of the Jesus figurines were real:

I don't remember exactly which ones Conan showed on LN, but I recognize the football figurine and some others.

Official "Late Night" t-shirts are available through the NBC store. You can order them online http://www.nbcuniversalstore.com/.
Unfortunatly, they don't have "Late Night" babydoll tees so all the shirts are in men's sizes. And sorry, no panties.

Another Late Night Mystery - Who is on tonights show?

The web site says that Liam Nisan is going to be in tonight, but wheni got my automated e-mail saying who would be on that said that Brad Garret and Sara Silverman would be on. So who is on tonights show? Conan apparently loves screwing with our heads.
latenightgoddess
NBC Universal Media Village is where to get the most up to date listings. According to that, the guests tonight are Liam Neeson, Ali Larter, and Brand New.
Brad Garrett & Sarah Silverman are supposed to be on on Monday 1/29.

You're welcome, but don't forget to thank our most knowledgeable member, LateNightGoddess!!! She fills in the blanks (read - she wrote 75% of it because she is awesome!!!)

I've never been to a taping, but I just secured a ticket myself! (yay!) I believe all you do is print out the email and show it to them? LNG? SCZ? I know you've both seen the show. Any tips?
sweet_cone_zone
Show up on the day with a print out of your email.
The earlier you get there the closer you are and the better your view.
Other than that just get ready to enjoy one of the greatest hours of your life happy.gif

Hi! I have something I'd like to submit as an idea for Conan's show, but it isn't a creative/original idea of mine, it's a thing that's been out there for awhile now but that I think is hillarious! I think it would be really funny for Conan to do a little feature about it on Late Night some time. It's Coco the Colossal Colon, a giant fake colon that kids can run/craw through and see what colon cancer, polyps, Crohn's disease, etc. looks like in order to raise awareness of colorectal diseases. It's touring malls, etc. as we speak, and this past week was at the Maine Mall in Portland, Maine close to where I live, which is why I wanted to tell the people at Late Night about it!
Anyway, I'd like to know if this could be done, seeing as it isn't a joke/sketch idea that I've come up with, but a really odd and funny public thing.

Here are some pictures I took of it!

severina80
Hi Tasha,
Please check out the very first post in this thread for information. But here is NBC's policy:

"How do I submit my jokes/sketch ideas to the show?
Accordingly, while we value your feedback, we must ask that you do not send original creative materials.""

The only way to submit to Late Night is to get a packet of sketch ideas together and submit them to the show via an agent. Usually this is done after years of work at places like The Groundlings, Second City, or writing other TV shows. You can also submit your ideas to the show via an entertainment lawyer, but that's not the best way to go.

You can always try to send your idea to them via snail mail, but because of legal reasons they can't read it unless you sign a waiver. Where to get one of those...I don't know. For Late Night's mailing address please see the first post in the thread.

But you can always get some ideas together, find an agent to represent you and give it a shot!
Good luck!

I hope someone could help me with this. unsure.gif

I'm going to New York next month and I have tried to book tickets to Conan by calling the number (212) 664 6030 but I just noticed that they have started to give a different number on the website, (212) 664 3056, where you should call. How early you can book tickets from this number? I mean, is it impossible to book now tickets for example for the week 22nd or do they only book in a span of a couple of days? However, that 6030 number seems still to be valid. But it would be nice to avoid unnecessary calls, because it's not so cheap.

I would be very thankful, if someone who has more experience than I could help me. I'm coming from Finland and I don't think I'm flying to the USA so often. I think this is my first and last chance to see Conan because I was so stupid and didn't go to Helsinki to see him when he was here.

Please, help me!

No, when I called to that number 6030 in March, they said that they are currently booking for March and when I have called there this month twice already they have said that they are currently booking for April. So last week I booked the tickets for May anyway and now I have been waiting for the answer.

So now I would like to know, if I could book tickets earlier by calling that new number they have given.

I'm not gonna give up so easy!!! Conan is the light of my life...

The (3056) number has been around since before the (6030) number. The (3056) number usually tells what date they're booked through. I just checked for you and they're booked through Friday, May 25, 2007. The recording also said, "Additional dates will open in the near future." If you want to get tickets ahead of time, the best thing to do is call 212-664-3056 everyday when it's around 10am in NYC, since that's the time they start booking IF they're booking at all that day (it's a pain in the @ss, I know).

From what I've heard, it's not hard to get in on standby if you go on any day besides Friday and arrive early (probably around 6-7am). I think they still give out standby tickets around 9am.

I'm going to a taping of Conan on May 9th, and I had a few questions, hopefully someone here could help me out. First of all, when's the soonest the guests will be announced for that date? And also, I've read in the rules that all audience members have to be at least 16. I'm planning on taking my younger brother who's 15 1/2. Do you think there's a chance he will not be allowed in?

Usually a preliminary guest list is announced maybe 2-3 weeks before the show. Looks like they haven't announced any guests for that week yet for some reason (they are probably busy with the SF shows).

I cannot promise that he will get in but at 15 and a half, if he looks quite old, he will probably get in no problem. If he looks young then they will probably id him.
Enjoy though. smile.gif

The last time I went, the audience coordinators there seemed to adhere to the rules (especially with a couple of late-comers who did NOT get in, despite their confirmation letter--hey, the letter clearly states not to arrive after 4:30). But they certainly know what they are doing; things went very smoothly and efficiently. I hope you guys get a lucky break, though! smile.gif Have your bro wear a tie! wink.gif

I have a question that im hoping someone who has booked tickets before can answer. I will be in New York In late June, I know the specific dates, so I have been calling daily for the last couple weeks, right now they are booking for early June. Anyways, my question is, lets say they finally start booking for the dates I need, I get through to talk to an operator, give them my information, email address, ect, does that mean I automatically have the tickets? Or does that simply mean im in for a chance to get tickets, and they will email me if Im chosen?

So, we've decided it's not worth the risk to try and get him in (well, now I know what to get him for his birthday). But my ticket confirmation says 2 tickets, so what will happen? Do they still give out stand by tickets?

I sent you a pm, hopefully the first FAQ post in this thread can answer any questions you may have. What kind of questions do you have about the show? It's possible that one of us may be able to answer them. As for sending "imput" for the show...do you mean ideas for skits and jokes? Unfortuantly, due to legal reasons, NBC does not accept any outside creative materials.
Hope that helps!

Thank you very much, especially for the quick reply.
I just wanted to know what happened to Triumph. I guess its not necessary to email them if someone here knows. I was on a mad hunt to find out. I was going to title the email "Is there nothing left to POOP on???" tongue.gif

I don't remember the last time he was on the show. Maybe six months ago?

I think one of the reasons that Triumph isn't on the show as often is because his creator/operator/voice provider, Robert Smigel, doesn't technically work for Late Night anymore. He does a lot with Saturday Night Live (he's the TV Funhouse guy.) Smigel still shows up every now and then to do bits like "Clutch Cargo" aka "The Lips" and other bizarre puppet bits. Sorry, StlJason, I hadn't seen this post.
Ok, well you've got tickets if you've spoken to someone on the NBC ticket line and they sent you a confirmation email. What you need to do it print that email out and bring it with you to 30 Rock when you attend the taping. However, do not be late! I think you have to be there before 4:30, and if you're late you will not get in, no exceptions. They always overbook the shows, so make sure you have that email with you and get there as early as possible to check in.

Does that help?

Ok, well you've got tickets if you've spoken to someone on the NBC ticket line and they sent you a confirmation email. What you need to do it print that email out and bring it with you to 30 Rock when you attend the taping. However, do not be late! I think you have to be there before 4:30, and if you're late you will not get in, no exceptions. They always overbook the shows, so make sure you have that email with you and get there as early as possible to check in.

Does that help?
Sev

Yes, thanks thats what I was wondering about. I actually dont have the tickets yet, but im calling every day, waiting until they are booking for the week im going to be there.

Show up on the day with a print out of your email.
The earlier you get there the closer you are and the better your view.
Other than that just get ready to enjoy one of the greatest hours of your life happy.gif
Oh for another hour in the presence of Conan O'Brien biggrin.gif

Conan is God...I have some great material-see I am a semi-retired engineer and
my daughter and I have been going over my sketches and she thinks I could
defiinitely write for Conan...I mean my 2 headed Larry King and Alan Greenspan
skit alone is worth my salary!

I submitted a Horney Manatee story about a Sea Lion in heat rubbing herself and looking
at me longingly on the Santa Cruz pier but it proved to risque for the Conando staff..
Preparation H. Raymond RULES!! And man Triumph-that traitor- he is not on nearly often
enough-what does he think he is now RICKELS! Dang..give a guy his break in the biz
and he barely comes back to visit--shades of Larry Bud Melman....

I saw Letterman once when Boy George was on and the theatre is really tiny
where Max and the guys play-the band was right in front of us-I sat on the left and
Paul Shaaffer almost blasted me out of my seat (those who may recall Paul was a great
Rock Concert promoter Don Kirschner -Id like to thank Jerry Eldini.. hilirious..)

I see Conan as the natural letterman successor--Leno has nothing on either Letterman or Conan but Conan is the funniest human being alive...

ALl praise the almighty Conando..

Actually, this is totally normal. They do it all the time, you just have to keep calling until they open up new dates. I know it sucks, but just keep calling as close to 10am NY time Mon - Friday as you can.

Well, they updated the ticket hotline, they said they are booking tickets for June 18th to the 22nd, then they said more dates in JULY will open up in the near future. This tells me that conan will be off the week of the 25th through the 29th of June, which is the week I will be in New York. Needless to say, im pretty down about it, because I dont know if I'll ever have the oppourtunity again. Maybe the guy on the recording mis-spoke...I can only hope!
