I can't say for sure but I think Mariska is being nominated for last year's episodes not this one. She had some intense episodes last season, remember the one where she and Elliot both chose each other over the job? That was pretty intense. My mind is going blank but there were plenty of amazing episodes that she did. She is going against someone from Grey's Anatomy so this is going to be a close call I think. I also like Medium and Patricia Arquette but I think Mariska really, REALLY deserves this! I hope she wins! I hope Dick Wolf and his "crew" think long and hard about Mariska's new nom before they make a final decision about her contract/negotiations. lol.

Direct from the SAG Award rules:

Television and cable programs must have been fi rst broadcast or cablecast in the United States in primetime (defi ned as between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday) in the calendar year.

This means that Mariska's work for the entire calendar year of 2006 was being considered. I doubt anyone would say that she missed opportunities for showing exemplary work by being out for maternity leave. If that were to be a factor, I don't believe she would have been nominated in the first place.

Yeah. I wish her luck too ... but it's too bad Christopher Meloni has nothing to give him any leverage in the negotiations (like awards). It's beginning to look like Benson might have a new partner soon. All you have to do is go to his website and read the note he left. Blew my day! When he goes I'll have to switch channels and find a new fav cop show. Always loved the old L&O but came to SVU in last few years. I'm always too late signing on. On the old show I miss Jerry Orbach!

Mariska rocks. I hope she gets it. I hope that NBC remembers though that while the award is given to her, her supporting cast (Christopher Meloni) is important to how well her performance come across. Not to take anything away from Mariska because she is a brilliant actress, but you know, the whole team work thing. That being said, I'm not sure Chris' note is really meant to imply anything about him leaving or not leaving the show. I think he just meant to say that there are a lot of rumors going around but they're still in negotiations, so it could go either way. It might just be a 'brace yourself' because it might happen, but it might not. I'm not a mind reader though, so I don't know. I hope he doesn't leave the show though. It's not his fault he doesn't have any awards. He's a good actor and it's just unfortunate that he's been getting the blow off all of these years.



Who knows, maybe this is all an elaborate ploy just to mess with the fans and make sure the ratings stay up.

Anyway, that seems a more impressive nom now b/c of the amt of eps she missed. She is awesome, I hope her peers that voted her in the category will continue to vote her as the winner.

I think she was greatt in the episode whrere she is on the phone with the little girl the whole time "911" , that one is a contender.

911 orginally aired in 2005, so I don't think that is one being considered. I believe FAULT would be one of the main contenders.

I was just wondering if anyone knows if Christopher Meloni has ever won an Emmy. I know he got nominated this year for Lead actor but I dont know who won. I thought he had lost, but I saw a couple of pictures of him holding what looked to be an emmy behind a podium about to give a speech on www.imd.com. I was confused because I thought he lost. Also, I read somewhere that Christoper doesnt think that his character and Marissa character should ever hook up. Anyone else here this? Why do you think he said this?

Chris has never won an Emmy. Kiefer Sutherland won for 24 this year. I believe both Chris and Mariska have stated they don't believe their characters should hook up. Firstly, partners in the same squad are not allowed to hook up; secondly, it would ruin the show as it would become a soap opera. You can tell I am not a shipper!

Didn't Mariska win an Emmy. Also, it is not up to Chris to decide whether the characters hook up. It is the writers and the Producers. You can tell I am a shipper fan! I don't think they will though. Maybe if the show ends or one of the actors, meaning Chris or Mariska, leave the show they will. But as long as they remain on the show and the two detectives are still together as partners they will not hook up. Ah rules, rules, rules. They get in the way don't they!

From the way I understand it, Chris has never won any Emmy. He has been in several other shows from the 90's and I don't think he won then either. He would be awesome on the big screen, I don't why he doesn't go for it, at the matter Mariska either. I just don't want them to get strapped in that Hollywood torture where every time they try something new they are compared and reminded of there roles in SVU....the show is not going to be on forever as much as I would like it to it won't happen.

I'd like Meloni to be nominated again but um, I actually would be rooting for Hugh Laurie or Michael C. Hall. They are fabulous. Chris is fun to watch but um... come on. Have you seen Dexter?! And as for the shipper thing- They'll probably hook up at some point. Doesn't matter if you like it or not. It'll happen on, like, their last episode ever. I really can see that happening. Because, um, why not? Who cares if you're going to **** off a bunch of non-shippers if the characters won't even be on the show anymore. If that's what's going to happen, then by all means Chris and Mariska could leave the show tommorow for all I care. I'm a shipper through and through.

Okay...so it's now Monday morning (1/29)...we all know how the SAGs turned out.
I was bummed, of course, that Mariska didn't get the nod...but if she had to lose, I was glad it was Chandra Wilson who got it.
And besides...when you think of how many different award nominations and wins Mariska has gotten...all for the same character (for which she will still play for 2 more years...) it just proves what an elite caliber actress she is.

I did love MH's dress, it looked fabulous on her...and her overall look was one of class (as usual!)

I just saw a few pics posted on USA's board from last night....and it struck me...is Peter REALLY that much taller than Mariska, or is it just the angle of the picture? Mariska is not a short woman on her own, and you know she had to have on decent heels with a floor length dress. And it looks like Peter can still see clear over her head?!
Anyhow...they looked stunning together.

Peter is 6'5" or 6'6", Mariska is 5'9" in stocking feet, so even with heels on she's still a bit shorter than her husband.

Oh, so there was a topic for this already. I just posted about the SAGs last night in the Mariska/Olivia thread. Guess I didn't look hard enough.

So I watched the SAG Awards last night, and I caught a short interview on E! before the Awards with Mariska talking to Ryan Seacrest. I was bummed that she didn't win the award, but she was so beautiful and she looked so happy. In the interview she talked about how glad she was that she signed on for two more years of SVU and how much she loves her co-workers. She was so lovely.

I thought that it was really nice that in that segment they did to honor the famous people that passed away this year that they included Mariska's father. I thought it was sweet that they thought to do that.
