C'mon, it's supposed to be songs that you're ashamed of, not just what you've got on there! I could rattle off over 8 days worth of music ....

It's an iPod confessional!

Pam Haplert - I think it's funny that you won't let anyone listen to your mix! It's like it's sacred to you or something. smile.gif

Just finished putting songs on my new iPod last night (early, EARLY this morning)... here are the things I'd never want ANYONE to know I have on there, so everyone stop reading now! wink.gif

N'sync
Backstreet Boys
Britney Spears
Clay Aiken
Dog Star
(Keanu Reeves's band)
Donny Osmond (Hey, I'm from Utah!)
Justin Timberlake
Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Sdtk
Monster Ballads (can't get enough love ballads from those danm 80's hair bands!)
Newsies Soundtrack
Tori Amos - I absolutely LOVE Tori, and I'm not embarrassed that she's on my iPod, but I AM embarrassed that I have over a day and a half of just her on there.

Yikes.

The only thing on this list that gives me great concern as a woman, parent and moderator is this(i may have to call in a specialist) wink.gif :

Here's a hypothetical for you ... what would you say if I told you I saw him in concert? Remember this is just hypothetically! wink.gif
DarthSchrute
Ok, my turn to confess. My favorite music tends to be alternative, techno, industrial, hard rock (think Foo Fighters to Fat Boy Slim to KMFDM to Rammstein). Here's my "ashamed of" list:

George Michael (GASP - Just one song though: Careless Whisper)
Hillary Duff (it's for my daughter I swear!)
Mozart's Requiem Mass
Prince
TATU

Not quite as ashamed of but debatable:
Enigma
Enya

Dammit! I was afraid something like that might happen!

Darth Schrute - I'm with you on the classical stuff. I've got Handel's Messiah on mine. But I'm not ashamed of it, I'm just a singer.

Hmmm, I just realized that I have no classical music on my iPod. I at least need Beethoven's 9th.

Sharla, nothing to be ashamed of in liking Tori Amos. She's a bit out there but she can definately sing. Still though, a day and a half? That's an exageration right? I mean that's got to be over 500 songs. Video iPod I'm assuming and not a nano or shuffle?

I will never be ashamed of my love for Tori. But, yes, I do have about 450 songs that are Tori. But in my defense, she's put out a CD every two years since 1992, last year she released a 12 CD boxed set of live concerts, and then just put out a remastered 6 CD boxed set with B-sides and remixes, and I've got some bootlegs and DJ sample CD's. And she's coming out with a new CD in May and then in the fall ...... um, I think I'll stop. smile.gif I can feel the testosterone level dropping.

Oh, and you put every Tori Amos song on your iPod? When I burn one of my CD's I just grab the good songs and leave the filler. Although with 30G to hold songs I suppose I could burn everything. Hmm, right now I only have 11 hours of music on mine but if I burned absolutely everything I own I could probably stretch that out to several days worth of music. Of course I also have to leave room for office episodes.

Sharladawn, have you ever listened to Charlotte Martin? She is a newer artist, but has some similarities to Tori Amos. Some Tori fans love her music, others don't.
You should check her out. On Your Shore and the newest album Stromata are good ones to start with.

I'm already a step ahead of you.

Ice cube trays - replace current fridge with one that has an automatic icecube maker (or start using the one that's already in there!)
Dirty laundry on the floor - carry around bottle of Fabreeze. Dirty laundry suddenly becomes clean. And it's already out of the closet, ready for use!
Toilet paper rolls - switch to the double rolls, thus reducing the need to replace it by 50%.

CrushOnJim - I'll let you know what I think! If you couldn't already tell, I like a very wide variety of music. So chances are I'll like her.

I'm so glad to see a bunch of people on here who like 80s music (and not of the hair-band variety)! This makes me feel slightly less ashamed of the more than 2,000 songs of this variety that I've loaded to my iPod... some of these are arguably as inane as all get-out, but others (such as anything by Joy Division) are still masterful.

My more "unique" music strays from this quite a bit though - I have a real weird affection for super-twangy Cajun music. Has anyone ever heard of "Kermit Venable and the BeauBassin Band" or Wayne Toups? I swear, no matter where I am, I blast some of this, and it's Mardi Gras!

Then, when this doesn't cut it, Louis Armstrong (anything he ever did) and Nat King Cole are never out of place. I just adore that beautiful, soulful music - heck, I love the movies, the clothes, everything from that era!
Fancy_New_Becca

How cool - another fan! JD's time was too short - I like the stuff the other band members did in New Order, but some of that creepy dark magic was gone when Ian Curtis killed himself.

For some reason, I have a random mix of Joy Division and Ween (Pure Guava) that I always like to play together. Something about the weird voices maybe (or maybe I just need the humor as a relief after a couple of dark tunes). If you're feeling eclectic, that might be a combo you would like...

That'll be a good show!

Oh yeah, I like Green Day too. Not one of my all time favorites though. But it's just a plus that they're from the bay!

Sharladawn, have you ever listened to Charlotte Martin? She is a newer artist, but has some similarities to Tori Amos. Some Tori fans love her music, others don't.
You should check her out. On Your Shore and the newest album Stromata are good ones to start with.

WOW! I just picked up her On Your Shore CD from the library today ... I've already listened to it twice! (Oh, and yes, I got it from the library and copied it to my computer. I'm a pirate. So sue me. Rrrr matey!) Her style is definitely just like Tori. In fact, I found myself listening to some of her chords and techniques and couldn't believe it WASN'T Tori! Her voice is a little different, which is to be expected. She kind of sounded like Tori, the early days, when she was in her band in the 80's.

Overall, I really liked it! Thank you for the recommendation!

I'm so glad you liked it! I knew Charlotte from college and I try to get her name out there, because she is a very talented artist and the nicest person! When I first bought the CD, I couldn't stop listening to it.

My iPod ranges from Pantera to Isis to Death Cab For Cutie to Aesop Rock to Pig Destroyer to Rise Against to Ceremony to Queens of the Stone Age.

I like to think I have a wide range of musical tastes.

My confession:

I have a playlist that I've titles "Teapots instead of iPods". Just for me and my sappiness!

The Soundtrack to High School Musical
Every song from "A Night at the Roxbury" I LOVE 90s dance music!
George's Answering machine from Seinfeld.

And of course the 'cool' music of today.

Yup I'm pretty embaressed now.

Someone likes High School Musical!? Ok I don't feel so embaressed now. It's just when you have a 13 year old sister and you see all those BOP magazines laying around your house you can't help but starting liking those sort of things.
