Thank you MB. Hey guys, maybe I didn't explain things properly when I started this topic but this is not for you to post your desert island songs, this is for your guilty pleasure songs. The songs that you feel embarassed for liking. The cheesy songs, the goofy songs, the sappy songs. This isn't for cool, trendy, "in" music.

But what if that's what I'm most embarrassed about?

I admitted it before, but it kind of got lost in my huge list. But, I catch a lot of crap for having Yanni on my iPod, (and music collection in general). There's not just a little bit either; I have 5 CDs worth loaded already with another 4 CDs waiting. I just love him, and I don't care how nerdy that makes me!
I'm not getting a lot of cool points for having Putumayo's "Turkish Groove" (it's Turkish and Middle Eastern dance/club) music loaded either. I just put it on this afternoon, so I figured I'd fess up. I'll be loading Putumayo's "Asian Lounge" next to extend my oh so cool international playlist. I love it, though!

Oh I noticed the Yanni. I just didn't say anything.

I can see the look on your face, though. I get it from everyone.

Does your husband tolerate Yanni being played in the house? If so you should probably hang on to him because that is true love.

I <3 the shins, talkaboutstank (haha). did you know they have a new album coming out in a week or two?? my favorite shins songs are "gone for good" or "those to come."

I have over 6000 songs. . .so I won't even attempt to list bands. but has anyone here heard of Madeline Adams? I got her CD, Kicking and Screaming, last summer and I haven't stopped listening to it since. Her website is http://www.madelinesongs.com/ and you can get some of her songs she played in the Bike Barn if you search google (try "uncle's got a sweetheart"). she's so excellent. maybe a little country, a lot folksy, extremely poetic and also very fun. in a month she had surpassed all others (even death cab and jimmy eat world) in my most-played list.

Donna Summers - Hot Stuff. Not embarassed of it... just a few of my friends might find it strange...

I had a roommate who was big on Tori Amos, but I haven't listened to a lot of her stuff. Death Cab is my #1 favorite band, flaws and all. I saw them live a few weeks ago in Phoenix and they just. . .were beyond amazing. They played Company Calls Epilogue, which is probably my favorite DCFC song, and in the middle was a 7 minute musical interlude. gah! amazing!

Oh man, is anyone in to Brand New? Their new album, "The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me" just came out a few weeks ago and it. . .I can't even describe it. It is one of the most impressive albums I've ever heard. All of their stuff is magnificent and heart breaking.

The Shins are brilliant. They have a new album coming out in, like, just a few minutes. They're also on tour right now. Tickets for Milwaukee go on sale tomorrow.

Gone for Good is one of my favorites too. I just finally learned how to play it. It's simple, but effective. There's a clip of them playing it live in the studio on youtube. I'd link it, but there's a swear word in it, and I don't want to be a bad influence.

Bands are smart to allow downloading of pre-sales. Lucero did that with their last one. Not only did they let me download it the second my credit card went through, they also mailed it immediately, so I had the actual CD in my hand two weeks before the release date. Oooh that song. Heard it for the first time about 2 years ago and probably 100 times since then. No matter how many times I hear it though, I cant change it. Its addicting and I'm still not sick of it. Seriousley, I would put it on repeat and listen to it like 6 times in a row. Ridic. I think I'm ashamed of having Jesse Mccartney on my ipod as well as BBMak. Oh and pretty much every Nsync song ever made. They remind me of 5th grade haha.

yeah, no kidding. i have the albums - i think robert plant and jimmy page are a little snooty about releasing the rights to apple and others. i heard something one time that they never released any of their music as singles because they wanted the album heard as a whole, so that might have something to do with why there's no led zeppelin on itunes.

I don't have an Ipod but I do have a MP3 player and it's full of song im not proud of . Most of the embaresssing songs are from scrubs like Keane - Everybodies changing Guided By Vioces - Hold On Hope Lazlo Bane - I'm So Superman and some more but for the safty of my masculinity I dare not go on but these are the most embarressing.

Ah, yes, that was from the good old days when the album was considered an art form, and songs chosen for the album were not just about making money. Also, the order of songs on an album was important as well. I have several that I still listen to on vinyl for that very reason.
