Most gimmicky episode since the "My Life in Four Cameras" one way back. But even that episode had a lot of redeeming, well-written jokes.
I'm talking about the musical. So many botched opportunities for jokes. And what the heck was with the DAY PLAYER getting such a HUGE PART??? Sure, maybe some folks in New York know who this broad is... but most people I've talked to wouldn't know her from Twyla Tharp! I kept expecting (with the quality of the musical numbers) her to break out into a nut-wrenching rendition of that 525600 minutes song from Rent.
Anyway, really weak. I can't believe the core cast (most specifically John McGinley) wasn't ****** the Avenue Q chick got more lines than them. And where was Jordan?? And why were Kelso's and Janitor's songs so terribly unfunny??? They're two of the best characters, and always funny! Not here. What happened?

oy! the musical was perfect!

Guy Love... BEST SONG EVER!! tongue.gif

They are not singers, they are comediants. It is supposed to be funny, not the next Grammy Award show tongue.gif

I do think Carla had the best singing though!

I thought the musical was perfect and everyone except jordan had a part and she is not there all the time she has a kid to take care of. i wouldn't have changed a thing its one of my favorite episodes.
Wooh scrubs!
beardeddragon111
People either hated the musical or loved it. I hated it personally because it just made kept making me think that maybe this season was the last season if they were resorting to a musical.
DrCoxLuvsJews
i was extatic, mostly cuz I'm a theature geek though... it was very well put together.

Is the sheet music for the songs in this episode available ANYWHERE? I've looked all over the web and all I can find are the lyrics. I'm willing to PURCHASE the music (doesn't need to be free).

Thanks.

GASP! Can it be that I am the first to comment on the song dedicated to Poo?! I dare say it was the most brilliant piece of musical theater I have seen since...EVER! I mean who can say they do not love the part in this song where no matter the ailment they check the poo...

Robed Woman (spoken): My stomach hurts
J.D.: Check the poo

Limping Woman (spoken): I sprained my ankle
Turk: Check the poo!

Bloody Shoulder Guy (spoken): I was shot!
J.D.: Check the poo!

Delivery Guy (spoken): A homeless guy threw poo in my eye!
Turk: Check the poo!
Delivery Guy (spoken): Mine or his?
J.D.: First him, then you!

BRILLIANT!!

That was pretty good, Tummer! It made me laugh because I love Kingdom Hearts and Sora and Kairi singing 'Dominican' just works! xD
tummer73
yeah, i liked how sora got hit in the head when he said she had 3 sisters.
Dr.Curley
I can answer all the questions from "Tango Dominican":
Did I grow up in Illinois or was it Michigan?
-Illinois
How long before we met was I in medicine?
-8 years
Was our wedding song the Beatles or Led Zeppelin?
-Beatles "Eight Days a Week"
Am I freakin' Puerto Rican or Dominican?
-Dominican!
Table_Fort
W-well... I can... I can.... ah frick. None of the other songs ask questions in them like 'Dominican' does. xD
trentsheba
Yeah, my brother and I were talking about that one day. All the answers are throughout the show. It's kind of funny, true fans can answer all of those questions, but Turk can't.
bamaster47
The musical really was a good episode, all the songs are very catchy and humorous.

"Cardiovascular and lymphatic, yes the nervous system too!" laugh.gif

Bam my friend...

Not being cancelled. It's been seven years, just feels like its time to end it, you know?

If you think back through all of the shows that have attempted a musical episode, "Scrubs" is the only one to nail it by having a broad spectrum of styles covering many decades. The smart score was smoothly integrated into the show and never waivered from the "souls" of the characters. When I saw and heard it again on the season six dvd set, in glorious 5.1 sound, it was even better than I remembered. A true labour of love from lovers of musicals. The "Making of..." documentary reflects that passion. A gem of an episode that stands on it's own.

I missed "My Musical" when it ran, and since this show doesn't have full episodes on NBC.com (why not?), I've kept an eye out for it on re-runs.

It's NEVER on the re-runs? Why not? I'd love a chance to see it.

Also, I'm putting in my two-cents worth on letting the show end with JD and Eliot together. I think it would be fabulous to end that way. It may not be real life, but hey, if I wanted real life I wouldn't be watching TV.
gracecarriveau
At first I didn't think I'd like this episode, but I've watched it about a dozen times now and I love it. If you have the dvd, I highly recommend watching the commentary and the making of this episode. You'll find out how hard they all worked to do this. I loved the song "When the truth comes out". Especially when Judy, Sarah, and John harmonize.

The web site, Internet Movie Database is a good place to find out when episode are going to run and on what channels. It's also a great place for info about the shows.

I really love "My Musical". I love it so much that:
-I've downloaded all of the songs off of LimeWire.
-I can say/sing the entire episode.
-I've downloaded the epiosde off of iTunes.
-I've devoted an entire folder to the musical on my iPod.
-I can sing it in French... smile.gif
gracecarriveau
Me too! Well, I can't sing it in French. Actually I just watched the episode twice today, and I can't get Dr. Cox's rant song out of my head. blink.gif

Cox was the perfect candidate for the Gilbert and Sullivan moment.

Tedd sang in "We're Gonna Miss You, Carla." I love this episode, but I'm a theatre geek. I do musicals and show choir, so I'm a sucker for musicals. Best tv musical episode ever!!!!
Hilarious!!! My favorites: Guy Love, Dominican, What's Going to Happen?, Friends Forever, and the Rant Song
LolaZ
I love this episode! there's just one problem... when Elliot says "I haven't sung since he 8th grade" that's a lie because in a previous episode she asked J.D. or someone to join her to go sing karaoke... just saying i thought that was wierd. I still love this episode though, especially "Friends forever"!

Yeah, in the commentary you find out Carla had a broken hip, which kind of made things difficult. I loved the episode.

"It's your hair, your nose, your chinless face You always need a hug
Not to mention all the manly appletinis that you chug
That you think I am your mentor just continues to perplex
And, oh my God, stop telling me when you have nerdy sex!

J.D: Oh, by the way, last time Kim was in town, we got some appletinis and poured 'em on her good parts!

Dr. Cox: See now, Newbie, that's the thing you do that drives me up a tree
'Cause no matter how I rant at you, you never let me be!
So I'm stuck with all your daydreaming, your wish to be my son
It makes me suicidal and I'm not the only one
No, I'm not the only one"

Brilliant
