Pilot Episode - Kidnapped
Wealthy businessman Conrad Cain (Timothy Hutton) hires an unconventional investigator (Jeremy Sisto) to find his teenage son, Leopold (Will Denton), who has been abducted from a New York City street in broad daylight. Ellie: Dana Delany. Latimer King: Delroy Lindo. Virgil: Mykelti Williamson.
_______________________________________________________________________
Episode One, "The Pilot"
The 15-year-old son of millionaire Conrad Cain and his wife Ellie, Leopold, is kidnapped on his way to school. The family disagrees
with how to handle the situation -- should they call the police, or
pay the ransom? Cain, who has a lot to hide in his past, hires P.I.
Knapp and Knapp's partner Turner to find his son. Both Knapp and
Turner work outside of the system. FBI Special Agent Latimer King
and Agent Andy Archer also begin investigating the case.
_______________________________________________________________________
It was a morning just like many others for self-made millionaire Conrad Cain, his wife Ellie, their precocious fifteen-year-old son, Leopold, and his little sister, Alice. Like clockwork, Leopold's driver, Virgil, arrives to escort his young charge to school. But the Cains' calm is
shattered by tragedy when, as Leopold and classmate Alfred Masters are en route to school, what looks like just another routine traffic
tie-up in Manhattan turns out to be a carefully planned abduction that leaves Virgil for dead and places the young Cain in the hands of a ruthless kidnapper whose sights are set on a multi-million dollar ransom.
Warned not to contact the police, Conrad hires Knapp, a private investigator known for testing the limits of the law. As Knapp and his associate, Turner, are meeting with the Cains, Virgil's worried wife alerts veteran FBI Agent Latimer King to her husband's disappearance. When King inquires as to Virgil's whereabouts, Conrad plays dumb,
claiming that Leopold is visiting his older sister, Aubrey, at college. Based on Alfred's identification of a photo, Knapp finds the phony
traffic cop who shot Virgil and took Leopold, but not before the suspect is murdered by an assassin working for the crime's mastermind, Schroeder. Not done yet, however, the killer tries tying up another loose end by shooting Greene, the man Schroeder hired to plan the kidnapping. As Knapp and Turner look for a lead to Leopold's whereabouts, the arrival of King and his FBI colleague, Andy Archer, unleashes a battle for control over the investigation while Cain fields a call demanding a million ransom for Leopold's safe return. More problems arise when King is at odds with both Knapp and the by-the-book Archer, and Ellie complicates matters further with her own clandestine efforts to find her son. Finally, as a miscue by Archer leads to the deaths of two SWAT team members in the kidnapper's trap, King puts his retirement on hold to pursue the case. But after Leopold's escape is foiled, the effort to find him becomes even more difficult once the very-alive Greene reenters the fray.

Detail: Pilot Episode – Kidnapped Debut: The abduction of a teenage boy from a wealthy New York City family is chronicled in this serialized drama. Asia: It's a rainy New York morning when the picture perfect existence of Conrad Cain (Timothy Hutton, Kinsey), a self-made millionaire with a long list of enemies, and his well-to-do wife Ellie (Dana Delany, China Beach) is torn apart. The reason? Their 15-year-old son Leopold (Will Denton Palindromes), a quirky kid whose innocence makes him the perfect target, has been kidnapped on his way to school. In the aftermath, Virgil (Mykelti Williamson, Boomtown), Leo's bodyguard and first line of defense (even after the kidnapping), is left to die.
Desperate to find his son while keeping his own-closeted skeletons hidden from view, Cain enlists the services of Knapp (Jeremy Sisto, Six Feet Under), a "professional" investigator who works outside the law's strict rulebook to retrieve kidnapping victims and guide families through the grueling process, and his able partner and ex-Interpol computer analyst, Turner (Carmen Ejogo, Lackawanna Blues). Working opposite Knapp and his team are Special Agent Latimer King Delroy Lindo, The Core), an experienced FBI agent who postpones his retirement due to a vested interest in this complicated case, and his colleague and antithesis, Agent Andy Archer (Linus Roache, Batman Begins), who only knows how to
play by the rules. As everyone knows, time is of the essence if there's to be any chance of recovering Leo alive. Yet, as those who Conrad left
behind on his rough and tumble road to success begin to emerge
from the shadows, Knapp's failure to crack another child abduction case that eventually drove him out of the FBI comes back to haunt his search for Leo. And as Ellie's wealthy and politically-connected father looks to insert himself into the investigation, Agent King finds his authority being undermined by political forces beyond his control.
In the small Mexican town where he is being held, and where
his chances of survival are rapidly shrinking, Leo's only hope
is to contact his family and somehow manage an escape. Back in
New York, even arresting one of the kidnappers and enlisting
him in an effort to ransom the boy fails to provide a lead to
the whereabouts of the crime's masterminds, nor any insights
into their shadowy motives. With both time and options running out, the search becomes more desperate with each passing day. As Conrad's shaky past and Ellie's powerful family connections collide with the relentlessly painful memories of Knapp's own history and King's determination to solve the case his way, Leo struggles to stay alive as his kidnappers look to use him as leverage in their own twisted scheme in KIDNAPPED.
Created by Jason Smilovic (Karen Sisco), with executive
producers Michael Dinner, (Invasion), Sarah Timberman, Carl
Beverly, and David Greenwalt (Buffy the Vampire Slayer).

Just caught something at the end there. I don't think Knapp rubbed King the wrong way. I think they got along quite well. I think King not only respected Knapp but had some actual affection for him. King's wife liked him to so he must have been a friend of the family.
