There are so many little Jam goodies hidden in this episode. There are just so many layers to saftey training that I didn't catch at first. I have been re-watching this episode trying to figure it out and I have made a few yummy observations. I am so excited about this... my cheeks hurt from grinning.
QUOTE
I just rewatched and there was more Jim/Pam moments in this episode that in any of the episode since The Return.
7) This is my favorite...while standing in front of the castle Jim is staring at Pam and smiling the whole time.

Yes loveanyway, I didn't catch this the first time, but after re-watching it I can't believe I missed it! Even after their adorable interaction at the bouncy castle he continues to stare at her for a long while. You can tell he is deep in thought almost remembering his feelings for Pam. Thinking... oh right, this is the girl that I am in love with. He keeps staring at her for a good amount of time while she is not even talking or looking at him... This scene is proof that Jim is still in love with her.
Also, I was to wrapped up in the Michael plot the first time to notice the expressions on Jim and Pam's faces as they are standing next to one another. They are standing way to close to one another to be acting as "friends" and they both know it. We have all done this before when we have crush's in real life. Find little ways to be as close to that person as possible. Testing the limit of how close you can get. If you look at the expressions on their faces you can tell that they are both feeling it. Pam gets this stoic expression on her face as she is looking up at michael, but you can tell she isn't thinking about michael. It just looks like she is thinking, OMG Jim is totaly standing on top of me and I like it, but why? does he like me? I have to play it cool and pretend to stare at michael. (I don't doubt that Pam was honestly concerned about michael, but if you really read her face you can tell that there is something more there). Jim feels it too and he too is thinking about it. If you notice he keeps sneaking peaks at her out of his perifial. He too is happy to be standing so close, but he is confused as well. Why is Pam this close? Why is she not moving? whats going on? It is soooo awkward and adorable!
My favorite thing is that they keep looking to each other for validation. They are both very curious as to what exactly is happening between them. They share a few glances at each other, but most of these glances are one way. Each of them looking at the other while the other one isn't watching hoping to gauge what the other is thinking. They are both feeling the electricity between them at the moment and are desperatly trying to figure it out. Niether one wants it to end. Pam is desperate to connect with Jim. She looks to him for validation whenever she says something clever (after the "present" line) or when michael says something funny (bad sex with Jan), she is trying to get closer. Jim is still trying to play it cool, but he is failing. He looks at her and smiles and quickly looks away. He is suspicious but does not want to get his hope up.
The bottom line is they are feeling it... ELECTRICITY. They are standing way to close for comfort and niether of them wants it to end. They are both starting to get a clue that the other is interested, but niether are confident enough in this idea to act on it.
We have all been in that place before right before a relationship begins where you have an idea that the other person is in to you, but nothing has happened yet. You find ways to be close to one another and connect with them. You hang on every glance and every word. Wonderind does he/she like me too? Its sooooo awkward and exciting and wonderful at the same time. I love this part of the relationship! I am so glad Jim and Pam are experiencing it. I can almost feel it with them.
Sidenotes:
1.) "I don't know how this whole betting thing started, but its really fun"...PAM. Its fun because she gets to play with Jim. I think they both remembering what they used to be throughout all the betting. They are dealing with that knowledge in the parking lot
2.) I don't care who you are, if you are in a large group of people and don't have any close friends there except your boyfriend, you will automatically want to stand close to him or next to him even if you arent actually having a conversation. This is even more truthful if his ex-crush is standing a mere 12 inches from him. Something is up with Jaren! It was a consious decision on the writer's part to keep them apart and I believe we will hear more about it in the next new episode
3.)Jim says a few of his usual witty remarks but for the most part he is pretty silent in this episode. Look at him in the Potato scene and in the parking lot scenes. He looks like he is deep in thought... like he cant get something (or someone) off his mind
4.)Do you notice how the writers are humanizing the whole Kelly/Ryan relationship? They are choosing to show really sweet moments between them lately instead of the usual train-wreck moments. I actually awed out loud when he kissed her on the forehead Thursday. All and all Ryan is becoming more likeable and kelly is becoming less annoying and more cute and quirky. How does this belong on a Jam thread you ask? Well, on other shows in the past when the writers want to get the main couple together and not have it become boring they introduce another couple to mess with. The writers know they need thay dynamic on the show. By making the audience care about Ryan and kelly, they are totaly opening the door for som Jam loving. Maybe I'm grasping at straws though... let me know what you think?

I completely agree with your assesment of things, and you made me realize that I was also too wrapped up in Michael to notice all of these details, so I definitely have to rewatch (and rewatch, and rewatch). Thanks for this teriffic post, it breaks it down in a very real way and gives me a lot of hope!

Love your post, Lemonade (sorry, I can't put the accents on the letters, I'm here in Canada, where Spanish isn't so big. I've drawn them on with marker on my computer screen

).
This episode is so worth watching over and over for all of the subtle nuances. I definitely felt the electricity and saw the wheels turning in Jim's head. Jim and Pam are destined to be together. All we have to do is sit back and wait (hopefully for not too much longer).

I too noticed that Jim was smiling down at Pam the whole time they were at the bouncy...and she wasn't even looking at him. He was totally lost in his thoughts about her and happy to finally be happy around her again. It wasn't until she said that Michael was actually going to jump that he caught himself staring at her and snapped back to the reality of the situation. Then I love how they run off to save Michael from himself.
I can't wait for the next new episodes...even if Pam and Jim don't get together before the end of the season, they are finding their way back to a comfortableness and the more they are comfortable around eachother, the more time they will spend together and neither will be able to say they can't this time around!!! At least that is what I hope!! And finally, there is some hope!!!

I just realized that the last parking lot scene we had where the whole office was outside was from The Merger when Pam realized that Jim and Karen were together and she had that stare at the camera when Karen rubbed Jim's back.
Now, isn't it wonderful to see that this whole parking lot scene, Pam and Jim were back together and Karen was nowhere in the same frame, until the very last second. HMMMM...mikey likey!

You know, I heard of some Star Wars fans that made their own version of ep 1 that did not include Jar Jar Binks because they couldn't stand him. Maybe someone should do that with S3 and Karen. I guess this is more of a "Blame Karen" post, but oh well.

I know...poor Karen. Seems her purpose has been fulfilled though...for Pam to see that she indeed needs/wants/loves Jim and for Jim to see that he STILL needs/wants and loves Pam. What should stand in their way?
Karen was interested/attracted to the Jim she saw in the Stanford branch. The thing is, Jim is really the Jim we all know and love from the Scranton branch. It isn't taking her long, especially after Safety Training, to find out who Jim really is. And he really isn't anyone without Pam! See how he shines when she's around. It should be fun to see them both shine at the same time...

Yes, I do love Shiny Happy Jim. The Jim who was clapping and pointing in Office Olympics. The Jim who "isn't a complainer".
You know, at this point I don't even care about Jim and Pam getting together (although it will be nice

The whole thing in the parking lot really got to me, Karen standing away from jim. Does she really think her relationship with jim is that secure? Even though jim was pretty much slient, he said alot with the way he just looked at pam and letting himself have fun with her again. Good for Pam for trying to just move past it with a sense of humor. Nice to see her not be all "poor pam being held back by roy". Could this mean jim is warming up to FNB? How am I going to get through the summer with reurns? Most of them are going to be jim and pam apart then it will be full of karen and jim.

As long as Jim and Pam get their act together before season's end, I'll be smiling all summer long and hopefully there will be some fanfic about their summer adventures together.
Then we can come back to S4 with Jim and Pam together (which I think will be just like S2) and it will be AH-MAY-ZING!

Maybe they could go to one of the places that Pam mentioned in her TH in Michael's Birthday:
"If I knew I had a week to live, I would probably go to Europe. And South America. And the Grand Canyon. And I would want to see the Pacific Ocean. It would be a pretty busy week."

And then he gets up and sings with him. And then the part where he winks at Pam when he sings, "making love to eachother uh huh." As you can tell by the picture I chose, that's one of my fav episodes too. I think it was that episode that really solidified to me what a good, kind-hearted guy Jim is. That he would get up and sing with Michael, to help him save face, even though Michael crashed Jim's own party to which he wasn't invited, says alot.

This is what makes The Office so great. You can watch them over and over and they are just as enjoyable every time.
That is why I
refuse to loan them out. My friends think I am so selfish when I tell them, get them on Netflix!! And yet, no one has done it! They don't know what they are missing.

I've already made my signature for when JAREN splits.
I advise everyone to do the same.

Thanks! I just changed it tonight (Thanks again, Darth Schrute!) I was worried it would be too distracting, but I loved the comparison between the "Jim and Pam" in my avatar and the "Jim and Pam" in my new sig. I guess I'll be keeping it for a while!
P.S., The quote in your signature was the quote I used in my sig until tonight--love it!

You made my night just by saying that, snogging staplers. Seriously, what a fantastic thought.

Ahhhh, Jim. Pam. JIMPAM, PIM, JAM...

I am diggin' the JAM energy here tonight.
JAREN split signatures, repeating JAM hugs, dreams of Jim and Pam's Summer vacation: it's all guuud.
We all need to stay strong due to the lack of new office this week. Also, it's Back from Vacation this Thursday, where our Pam has her crying moment. But, that's ok. It all adds to the rich tapestry that is JAM.

Ok, it's bedtime for Beeswax. But, here's one more song to sing about JAM
Little Wonders-Rob Thomas
let it go,
let it roll right off your shoulder
don’t you know
the hardest part is over
let it in,
let your clarity define you
in the end
we will only just remember how it feels
our lives are made
in these small hours
these little wonders,
these twists & turns of fate
time falls away,
but these small hours,
these small hours still remain
let it slide,
let your troubles fall behind you
let it shine
until you feel it all around you
and i don’t mind
if it’s me you need to turn to
we’ll get by,
it’s the heart that really matters in the end
our lives are made
in these small hours
these little wonders,
these twists & turns of fate
time falls away,
but these small hours,
these small hours still remain
all of my regret
will wash away some how
but i can not forget
the way i feel right now
in these small hours
these little wonders
these twists & turns of fate
these twists & turns of fate
time falls away but these small hours
these small hours, still remain,
still remain
these little wonders
these twists & turns of fate
time falls away
but these small hours
these little wonders still remain

I like Pam's crying moment. It's one of the few times where she is being completely honest to the camera about her feelings for Jim. She actually lets it be known that she loves him. And I say 'loves' because they are waaaay past 'liking'.
Beeswax, where is your sig video from??? When is that?

It is distracting but the GOOD type. The VERY good type. Keep it for as long as your can. I love watching it!

Run, don't walk, to Darth Schrute's "The Mini-Vid Thread". You will be in AWE!

This my first attempt at a sig. I usually don't bother, but Darth's minivids were just too tempting.
As you can see I'm making a hopeful prediction.

Yes! Massive props go out to Darth Shrute for our awesome sigs!
I have a feeling he's going to be very busy making more of these. Everyone should check out the Mini Vids thread.
Oh, and Marissa, my sig is from Travelling Salesmen when Jim sees Karen's new fancy hairdo. I made up the quote based on Safety Training and Karen's jellybean guess.

It looks like Jim could be saying, "Wait, you're not Fancy New Beesley!"
