OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG (my brain can't think cant think else but) OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just can't get over how much I love Pam right now. She has just completely amazed me!!!!!!!! Her running through the coals was the most amazingly symbolic thing this show has ever done. She's come through on the other side, not just safe, but exhilirated and free! I LOVE FNB!!!!!!! Even if she never gets Jim (which she WILL) she has just become the most amazing girl. She's just so great....

Yup, totally awesome episode! Gotta get to bed but wanted to post a few things first. (After catching up on everything posted first...) I think it's significant that Pam missed Jim's announcement that he was going to
interview for the job in NY. She was doing the coal walk. So at this point (when
the episode ends) she has no idea that he might be leaving. That will leave an
opening for some awesome drama! And his face was so shocked. Awesome.
I
also have to say that I thought Pam showed a lot of class by not declaring her
undying love in front of the whole office, and Karen. That would have put Jim in
an awkward situation and it wouldn't have been fair to Karen. That's a
discussion for a later time. But I think the implication was there and it will
definitely be enough to get him thinking. Simply stating that she called off her
wedding for him, and didn't care about the other reasons until she met him...
That's pretty clear, without being tacky. Can't wait for next week!

I am crying all over again now. I feel the same way... as you do...what she said...as well.
QUOTE (sedimentary @ May 10 2007, 09:52 PM)

I think Karen now must realize that Jim's crush on Pam was "more than that" and that Pam obviously felt/feels the same way. Her face was interesting when she was looking at Pam...I think she looked surprised, but not ANGRY.
I think her attitude is going to be Bring It On. More midnight talks. Karen is very competetive, so I think she will be saying, in the words of Stanley, "Game On!"
And I think she may be saying some nasty things about Pam. I think she has been holding back up until now. Now she will be ready to fight and she's thinking, "the nerve of Pam to say that stuff about Jim in front of everyone - and I am his awesome girlfriend."
I don't like Karen and I never will.

Good morning fellow JAMmers! I just wanted to say how proud I am of Pam. I was crying after her speech. She has really become an amazing young woman over the past year. I'm glad her confession wasn't prompted by knowing Jim was going for the corporate job. It was all on her own, totally out of the blue.
No matter what happens next week, I can't see Jim staying together (pretending to be happy or moving on)with Karen.
Can't wait for SB's take on this.

Well, even after a night's sleep I'm still on a Pam high.
I never thought that I'd say this, but I'm not that worried about Jim and Pam getting together. Pam made leaps and bounds in her life after her feats of bravery and I'm just so proud of her that at this point, JAM is just icing on the cake.
I'm going to post her speech again, without spoiler bars, so we can all enjoy it again:
"Hey, I wanna say something. I've been trying to be more honest lately and I just need to say a few things. I did the coal walk! Just...I did it. Michael, you couldn't even do that. Maybe I should be your boss?
Wow. I feel really good right now. Why didn't any of you come to my artshow? I invited all of you...that really sucked. It's like sometimes some of you act like I don't even exist.
Jim I called off my wedding because of you...and now we're not even friends and things are just wierd between us and that sucks and I miss you. You were my best friend before you went to Stamford. I really miss you.
I shouldn't have been with Roy. There were a lot of reasons to call off my wedding...but the truth is I didn't care about any of those reasons until I met you...and now you're with someone else and that's fine, it's...whatever...that's not what I'm...I'm not...ok, my feet really hurt. The thing tht I'm just trying to say to you Jim...and to everyone else in the circle, I guess, is that I miss having fun with you. Just you, not everyone in the circle.
Ok, I am gonna go walk in the water now. Yep. It's a good day."

Something little I noticed...
Before Pam said anything about nobody coming to her art show Jim was smiling. I just loved that he was smiling with her because she was so excited and happy and proud of herself. It reminded me of the Dunies and his reaction to her speech. I also loved how his face just drops when she talks about the art show. It just shows that Pam still has a big affect on Jim's moods. They are still at that 'I smile when (s)he smiles. I hurt when (s)he hurts' phase.
Also, I LOVE that at the end of her speech Pam didn't see embarassed or regretful, she just seemed kind of relieved and really proud of herself. She really meant it when she said 'Yep. It's a good day.'

Yeah, I loved that she called the whole office out about not going to her art show, but she was REALLY waiting (and makes that episode so much heartbreaking) for Jim. She REALLY thought he was going to come. So I loved it when his face dropped because he realized that he had hurt her...I think he really is going to start to understand Pam's actions a little more...it is dawning on him that she has been hurting too. And that can only mean one thing...she loves him!! I mean she called off the wedding because of him!!! Pam has been trying all year to talk to him (in her own way) and he's been pushing her away. I don't think he'll do much pushing now that she's said what we've all wanted her to say and what Jim needed to hear her say. And I am so glad she did it in front of the whole office...because that is just proof that she meant what she was saying...why else would she lay it all out on the line? There were no motives there other than she finally got up the courage to confront everyone about the art show and the way they treat her and to finally fess up to Jim!! Good for Pam!!
Jim, don't be lame, go for it!!!

I really hope we don't just jump ahead next week, because I really want to see what Jim did when Pam went to cool her feet in the water. I am thinking we are going to get a "Casino Night - Gay Witch Hunt" carry over next week.
I am trying to think about what Jim will say to Pam. Since we seem to be paralleling CN-GWH, Jim won't reject Pam but will probably hide behind going to NY to interview for the Job. Since she doesn't know about this yet I think all he has to say is that he was planning to go to NY (including Karen is optional, I don't think he will, but he might). They look at each other and exchange a "why is it that the timing never works out" look. He apologizes to her for not being the friend she deserved, and they part.
The rest of the episode Pam comes to grips with the fact that Jim has moved on, but Jim while realizes he is fooling himself. He gets offered the job, turns it down and returns to Scranton. Will a grand gesture be needed, or will just be walking in and taking his old desk be enough. (I kind of like ending the season that way.)
Pam: How did the interview go.
Jim: Pretty well, they offered me the job . . .
Pam: That is great. (not really meaning it)
Jim: Yeah but I turned it down.

I see your point bubblewrap, but the difference is we did get the outcome of the kiss in the Dundies. Pam stares at Jim nodding her head as he recaps the evening. As they leave she almost asks him a question, and then backs away. We see her make the decision not to carry the kiss further. It is explained away as just too much to drink, and everyone lets it go at that.
Here they left us waiting for Jim's reaction. He can't sit dumb struck around the fire forever. Everyone in the office is now watching and waiting for his response. He can't avoid the situation. Maybe he won't go after Pam, but regardless of if he does or not we haven't seen his choice yet. That is why I think this has the CN-GWH carry over feel where we were left waiting for Pam's choice.
Of course none of that means TPTB will give us a glimpse of what happens next. They are wily and who knows what schemes they have up their sleeves.

Yes, I hope we get a bit of the Casino Night/Gay Witch Hunt continuity...we really need to see what Jim did after Pam went down to the water. Now, we know he didn't go down there with her. But the crew is there and I think we should see at least something because we aren't going to get to witness any telephone calls or anything like that. I think that would be key in explaining what happens in between that confession and the interview...otherwise, I think we will all feel like we did after the whole Roy/pepper spray incident and then Safety Training.

you know I am in a happy place! Pam came full circle in this episode! Now she is happy!
Now I just want Jim to be happy, no matter what that is!
So, I guess what I am saying is that I have no speculation for the next episode! I do not want to! I seriously just want to sit back and relax!!and watch it happen.
The only thing I think I would be mad about is if they left the season with Jim in newyork because thet means we do not get to see his pretty face until he came back ( if he ever came back).
I also kinda do not want to see the reaction of everyone and what Jim did. I would rather seem them like two days later after it has sunk in. There still has to be some talks, I feel Jim needs one more grand thing from Pam! He wants to run right now, Pam needs to show him exactly why he should stay!

Ushun, I agree about some carryover from Beach Games. I dont see how they can avoid it. First of all, the episode essentially ended right after Pam's speech. Secondly, Andy is still floating out there somewhere. And lastly, Michael still has to arrange a group hug so Angela and Dwight can get it on.
As for the season finale, I love the way your mind works! I've been thinking for a while that the season will end with Jim doing nothing more romantic or dramatic than moving back to his old desk. It'd be simple, but huge and sometimes thats the way these crafty writers work. I hope you're right!

I love your scenario unshun, but I would like to add Preface because I don't know if I can make it through the whole summer unless I have a brand spankin' new "JAM Kiss" to watch. So...
Before Jim goes to New York, I would like to see the "Big Talk", but it needs to be private. Pam spilled about as much as she could in front of everybody, but they both still have some issues to work out privately. I hope we get to see the aftermath of her confession or maybe they hook up later that same night to get everything out on the table. I would love for Pam to tell jim how much she loves him and always has and that she wants to be with him. She would also apologize for hurting him and making him think he "misinterpreted" their friendship. Then he can tell her about his feelings during the past year. I see this as a very emotional conversation and I also see both of them crying. He would admit he still loves her and they would hug, kiss, cry..very passionate. Then he would tell her he needs time to think and sort things (namely Karen, but also the job in NY) out. Pam would be okay with this and let him take his time while letting him know she will be there waiting as long as it takes....
Then cue your scenario.
It might sound sappy and soapy on paper, but I think it needs to be done..and TPTB would know how to do it right. This way, the finale wouldn't be a carbon copy of last year's by ending with a Kiss, but there would still be a Kiss to keep us hoplessly romantic JAMmers happy for the summer.

QUOTE (VampyraBat @ May 8 2007, 09:05 PM)

Ever since I got hooked on The Office way back in Season 1, I've always maintained that I am more interested in the show's broader structure (the comedic timing, the ensemble cast, the writing, the mockumentary style, etc) and that the JAM situation was not what motivated me to tune in every week. I've been a bit of a snob in this regarding--looking down on those who are only pining & rooting for JAM.
But you know what? I've been deluding myself. That hapless/hopeless romantic in me wants and needs JAM to be fully realized. And, as unlady-like as it sounds, I'm tired of the writers dicking us around with the push-pull of "will they? or won't they?" I want some JAM on JAM action and I want it pronto.
So, I'm throwing down the gauntlet. Either they end up together or I'm done. I can't take the stress and angst and turmoil this TV relationship is having on my mental and physical well-being. Yeppers, DONE.
I am moderately pleased with the outcome of Beach Day. But, if I'm being completely honest, like Pam, I must admit that I'm still not happy. It just wasn't enough. The dicking continues.
I won't be happy until the entire office gang snatches JAM by the hair, drags them to the conference room, straps them into chairs, lock them in until they hash the whole thing out, and forcibly transport them to a church for a shotgun wedding. I know it's sounds harsh, people, but we've been loyal fans and we deserve an efficient resolution to this mess of a romance.

^^^I would like to add to your post in that I don't want to see them go into the "friend zone" just so that TPTB can string us along (or dick us around, Vampyra) for another season.
It would not be realistic for them to revert back to being "just friends". Let's face it, these two won't be able to hold out, they want each other so badly!! Can you imagine them being celibate all season while not dating other people either? It would drive them (and us) mad!
I just can't see it. Once Karen is out of the picture (and that WILL happen, won't it?) If they can both admit they still have feelings for each other--no, LOVE each other, they won't be able to keep their hands off each other.

Or Jaren will break up, or JAM will happen. ALL of you can join!! This time I wil have to think about it, I am not as sure as the last two times.. so I am thinking it will be easier to knock me down
Oh FYI.. I went to target yesterday and guess what I found for the first time!! Sourcream and onion sun chips!! I screamed, because all I have ever found was herrs chips!! It was a good sign!! I have not eaten them yet I am saving that for next week!!

OK I just have to say- on the Office home page, there's a link that says you can watch the preview for next week. But it has absolutely no spoilers. It's more of a summary of what happened last night, just setting things up for next Thursday. I think everyone should check it out. It has Pam's speech and lots of shots of Jim's face. *Sigh* Can't WAIT for next week. We are totally having an Office party at my house.

I think I am going to try to rewatch Season 2 & Season 3 by next Thursday. "TRY" being the operative word, my husband is going out of the country tomorrow and wont be back for 10 days, so I wont have anyone telling me
'are you watching that AGAIN?'
. Maybe I'll start watching Season 2 of Sunday sometime, if anyone is interested, we can resurrect the episode threads for Season 2.
GAME ON
I just bought season 1 & 2 the other day (I know I know what was I waiting for?!) and my husband is also going out of town next week and my plan is to re-watch seasons 1 & 2. (or as much as I can) It will be so nice to watch with out comments about me being obsessed. That is why I love these boards – because there are so many others like me!

That's my 2 cents!
I often feel this way as well...especially after watching a lot of season 2, or episodes like The Initiation (their phone call reunion) and The Return. They are just so obviously perfect together. They take such joy and happiness in just being together, without having to plan stupid trips like stupid Karen!!
(Digression: OOH something I just thought of...you can bet that Jim would think of something a lot more personal and meaningful than just as dinner out for JAM's six-month anniversary!!)
But I also think that, despite Pam's big breakthrough, there is still a lot of unresolved pain and confusion on both sides of JAM. Pam didn't actually say she loves Jim, and Jim hasn't gotten his two cents in about Pam never contacting him in Stamford and never telling him any of this earlier. WE have discussed all these things to death, but Jim and Pam still need to. So that makes me think that it almost would not be realistic for Jim and Pam to get together next week.
With JAM there is always so much unsaid...S2, they just had that tortuous unspoken love, and now this season has been all unspoken pain......ooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh the heartache! I cannot take it!.....but i love it so.

Love the new punishment sig, Queen.
I don't think we'll see any more of last night's ep. This show always leaves major moments out. I mean, seriously, could they not have gotten a camera going during and after Pam's cancelled wedding? Also, could we not have seen when Jim left the office?
We may just have to imagine what the bus ride home would have been like.

Oooo, that can be next week's wedding scenario! I like your thinking.

HEHE!!I did win!! I am just waiting for Darth to make my mini vid so I can post a nice picture!! I am thinking coal walk Pam!! Or its a good day Pam!!! Either way I am making a pro Pam sig... because I don't know about Jim at teh moment.. thinking about Jim makes me nervous.. I am only going to think about Pam!!
Amen to that!! I don't know what is going to happen... I DO NO want to know that is going to happen! I dont even know what I want to see happen!! I just know whatever the wirters are going to do will be perfection because this season has turned out to be awesome!! I have faith that it will be perfect!! JAM kiss or not!!
Maybe the next bet should be about the possibility of a JAM kiss. I think that is the big gamble us Jammers are hoping for. We can have one side betting that James and Pamela will kiss and another side that says no, it will just be a knowing smile.

No kidding! I say for the JAM six-month anniversary, Jim would ask Pam to marry him! (And make lots and lots of babies!)

ITA. I don't think they will get together as a couple...yet. But, I could see their emotions taking over and them kissing even if it's just in the moment. Then I could see Jim taking a step back and saying he needs time...then onto VampyraBat's NY interview scenerio...

Count me in on this one! (However, if I lose, I would need help creating my signature. I don't know how to do any of the funky stuff you guys all do with typing over pix and stuff.)
I am with the side that says there
will be a JAM kiss. I feel confident about this. Who's with me?!?!
