I'm fairly new to this board but I feel like I need to share my prediction.

I think Karen will get the job in NY and she will ask Jim to come with her - like either you do or it's over between us. Jim will be confused about what to do because he's not sure if Pam meant she wants to just go back to being friends and in his mind he thinks, "If I stay, I will be giving up Karen (a sure thing) and going back to a slow painful death with Pam as just my friend." So, he and Pam will need to have a talk and I think that in the end we will see no kiss or anything - just Karen saying goodbye, Jim going back to his old desk and Pam with a big smile. Then we will hang for the next season to see if they actually get together.

This is my prediction but if the writers choose to torment me this way I will not be a happy jammer. mad.gif

Maybe the next bet should be about the possibility of a JAM kiss. I think that is the big gamble us Jammers are hoping for. We can have one side betting that James and Pamela will kiss and another side that says no, it will just be a knowing smile.

I will take that bet. Mostly, because Jim and Pam kissed in last year's season finale. I think the writers will throw something different, but just as breath taking.

So if I lose, I change my signature? Is it a surprise or do I get to know my fate if I lose before hand?

*Edit* Are the only choices kissing or smiling?

I really feel that Pam's speech needs a response from Jim.
It would be very poor taste to ignore such a declaration.
She was so reaching out and I want him to confront her.

Wouldn't it be nice if next week opened with Pam at home checking her machine the night of BG and soft knock at the door reveals Jim in the doorway?

I too am new and I love reading everyones posts and predictions.

I agree. But I think I would be O.K. with this ending. Not that I am a karen hater, I just like Jim & Pam much more!

Welcome to the insanity JamesLover! I absolutely agree, Pam deserves a response from Jim and as I close my eyes and picture your scenerio with Jim at her door wub.gif I get tingly. HOWEVER, because of the way The Office is filmed--documentary style, it would be unlikely that they would follow Jim to Pam's apartment. It's nice to dream though, isn't it?

This ending would be okay - it would at least confirm he still feels the way we want him to about Pam. I just think that this was a painful season for Jam fans and we deserve just a little more than a smile. Like maybe a passionate kiss in the lunch room and Karen catching them (not that I'm a Karen hater either but she could likely get any guys she wants in NY!) biggrin.gif

Kissing or smiling is just a suggestion. Any other suggestions? We have 6 days to refine the bet.

We usually pick the theme of the sig. Winners have a pro-JAM sig and losers a pro-Jaren or Karen sig.

I am the mediator in these bets, so I do not pick sides. But, I bet you can guess what side I would pick if kissing was involved wub.gif

I think Karen catching Pam and Jim kissing should definitely be included.

I found this screen cap of our brave girl. Does anyone have a similar shot, but Pam is turned to the camera? I'd love that one.

I haven't read through all the pages of the speculation threads, so this one might already have been covered...but I've been mulling a theory. Since the writers have often sprinkled in throw-backs to the U.K. version, perhaps they'll translate that pivotal Tim/Dawn scene and apply it to JAM.

Jim is offered the job at corporate and plans to take it. As a good-bye gift, Pam gives Jim a sketch of his face and the proverbial "keep in touch". During his drive to the city, he decides against it and heads back to Scranton. The ending plays like the U.K. version in reverse with Jim approaching Pam while Yazoo's "Only You" plays in the background. May not work out exactly like this, but I think it would be extra awesome to have that final scene play out with that song.

I'm bringing my speculation from the Who Will Be In the Final Scene thread into this one as a possibility. Although perhaps is should be on the JAM Spoilers & Speculation thread? Hmmm. Conundrum.

So how long have you been a smile fan?

I have noticed predictions are allowed here. Here is mine. The cold open will be a heated moment where Jim breaks Pam's heart after explaining she is too late, he has chosen Karen and they are going to move to New York together. While at the interviews, trusty Michael will say the absolute right thing at the right moment just before Jim's interview. Jim will consider for the first time since CN, that Pam is his match. Somehow having Pam on the brain will actually get Jim the promotion. As he is being offered the job, Jim will realize he is about to make the biggest mistake of his life. He will humbly explain that Karen is the best candidate for the job and refuse to take it. The ending will be a sullen and defeated Pam sitting at her desk. The phone rings. 'Dunder Mifflin, this is Pam.' The response, 'Dunder Mifflin this is Jim.' Roll credits.

I only read a couple of the other predictions, so if this sounds like anyone else, we think alike.

Oh, Pam, what a heartbreaking video! He goes from shock, to pain, to confusion.

Jim has some soul searching to do.

I like "Suck on that Halpert!", although it does seem like tough love for our sweet James.
Oh well, maybe it suits him. He does need a wake up call.

NO! You are being unreasonable Pam wink.gif Karen is the devil....how can you side with the devil?
maxwell3
Everyone at work kept asking why I was so cheerful and upbeat today, and its all because of Pam. Yeah...good day.

I have watched Pam's speech like 10+ times already and it manages to blow me away every time. Its so intense and honest that it almost hurts to watch, but I cant stop watching it.

I have been trying to figure out what is going through jim's mind while Pam is talking, and I noticed a lot of guilt and hurt with the obvious shock. I don't think he is going to get angry at her for spilling everything. When he has time to digest everything he is going to be more proud of her than anything and very sorry. Karen, however, is not going to sit around and watch. I think she is going to give Jim an ultinatum (sp?). Either move to New York with her or breakup. This week is going to be Jim's episode to decide what he wants.

Did anyone else notice that when Pam is eager to walk across the coals, Jim says he won't do it because he does not want to get his feet burned? I think this is sybolic of where they both stand on the topic of a "more than that" relationship. Pam is willing to dive in head first while Mr. Halpert is still very afraid of getting burned again.

Despite this, he has already come to terms with the fact that Pam is the only girl for him. He has spent years realizing this (season one and two). Thats what makes this season finale so different than casino night. Pam really didn't know how she felt last season. Jim already knows and has known for a long time. He just needs to get over his fear.

After last nights episode I really feel good with whatever happens. I feel like I have been on this crazy ride with Pam all season, and now i can finally relax a little. Pam did what she needed to do... the rest will work itself out.

I can't decide if I want't this week to go by super-fast or super-slow. I need to know what happens, but 3 months without The Office is going to be heck.

OK I just have to say- on the Office home page, there's a link that says you can watch the preview for next week. But it has absolutely no spoilers. It's more of a summary of what happened last night, just setting things up for next Thursday. I think everyone should check it out. It has Pam's speech and lots of shots of Jim's face. *Sigh* Can't WAIT for next week. We are totally having an Office party at my house.

Thanks for the heads-up! That was a very cool recap.

I do not think TPTB would give us this long miserable season w/o a happy finale. I've said for a while that after Pam tells Jim, I will not worry b/c he loves her - he just needs to rediscover it - and he will. wub.gif

Oh, Pam, what a heartbreaking video! He goes from shock, to pain, to confusion. Jim has some soul searching to do.
I just posted this same thing somewhere else - so true. I didn't realize he was hurt/upset until I saw the screen cap. Poor Jim. Pam is there for you now!

Same here! That's pretty bad, huh?

I have been trying to figure out what is going through jim's mind while Pam is talking, and I noticed a lot of guilt and hurt with the obvious shock. I don't think he is going to get angry at her for spilling everything. When he has time to digest everything he is going to be more proud of her than anything and very sorry. Karen, however, is not going to sit around and watch. I think she is going to give Jim an ultinatum (sp?). Either move to New York with her or breakup. This week is going to be Jim's episode to decide what he wants.
True. Even if he doesn't get angry, he still needs to get all of that crap that's been building since CN (& before) out of him. It's been festering & burdening him all year. He can get it out w/o hurting Pam again & it will allow her to show him how she can be trusted w/ his heart now. Is it really a contest of who he wants??? Seriously, how much soul searching will he really have to do?

QUOTE
Did anyone else notice that when Pam is eager to walk across the coals, Jim says he won't do it because he does not want to get his feet burned? I think this is sybolic of where they both stand on the topic of a "more than that" relationship. Pam is willing to dive in head first while Mr. Halpert is still very afraid of getting burned again.

What a great point, Lemonade!

True, but I need to know NOW. The next 5-1/2 days are going to DRAG. If S3 ends well, I will keep myself busy by re-watching it all over. And you know those talented fanfic writers will keep us entertained as well.

Spot on observation Lemoñadé! I totally agree.

Do you also think that Jim looks sort of calm as if he knew this moment would come, and as if he has yearned for it? He's listening so intently and openly. He keeps eye contact the whole time. He never looks away from Pam's face (except once when the camera is on Pam and you see the back of his head and it looks like he glances Karen's way-- but does that really count?) It would have been a completely different thing if he had been staring at Pam's shoes the whole time. He is drinking her up with his eyes in this speech. He's been so hungry for her to say these things to him.

Hey, I already posted this at the PD and JP, but I got a request to post it here, and I'm gladly obliging.
It's kind of a play by play of Pam's Speech (well, the Jim part, at least) and pictures of their faces. So much emotion! (Click on Small pictures to get to bigger pictures)

Pam asks why no one came to her art show, and Jim's smile fades

Pam turns to Jim, and Jim's reaction to "Jim I called off my wedding because of you"

Pam saying it's been weird between them and she misses Jim, Jim's reaction

Pam says "I didn't care about those reasons until I met you", and, for good measure, Karen's reaction to "You're with someone else, and that's fine."

Then Pam saying she misses having fun with Jim, Jim's reaction, then Pam nods (doesn't she look relieved?)

Here's Jim's face as Pam runs to the water (Angela's eyes are watching Pam, but Jim just stares ahead) Then Jim again after Michael says "I'm still looking for someone with a sales background"

Great post, lemonade!

I really have high hopes for Thursday's ep, too. It is different this time because there is hope. We know that Jim still loves Pam and now we know that Pam still loves Jim. I know, she didn't say it to Jim, but I think "I cancelled my wedding because of you" speaks volumes.

The great thing about Pam is that now I feel like, no matter what happens, she's going to be fine. All of the heartbreak she has gone through this season is now worth it. This girl has cancelled her wedding, started taking art lessons, sang at the bird funeral, tried in her own way to get Jim's attention (The Merger and BF) and opened up in front of Jim and the whole office and the direction of her life has now completely changed for the better.

Last night I watched Boys and Girls, Women's Appreciation and Beach Games back-to-back. I highly recommend watching these three eps together. B&G is a great example of old Pam: low self confidence, controlled by Roy. It's our Pam who was sittin' on her bisuit, never havin' to risk it. In WA and BG, we see Pam come to life.

Pam Beesly, you're my hero!

Thanks for posting your play by play, ladama!

I just love watching that scene in it's many forms: on my tv, on my ipod, on mini-vids and on your play by play.

It was a historical episode for sure.

Thanks for the great pics, ladama!

If someone you no longer have feelings for begins to confess in front of your girlfriend and all your coworkers, you are not staring directly into her face. You are looking at your girlfriend out of the corner of your eye (non-verbal message: "Man, I'm sorry about this"). You are staring at the ground ("I wish she would just stop!"). You are fidgeting or shifting in your seat ("this is so embarrassing!"). You subtley (or not so subtley) shake your head no, or rub your face, or do SOMEthing to indicate that this is not only unexpected, but unwanted.

Nope, Jim was far from this. He needed to hear every word and watch her face like a hawk, because this entire season he's been desperate to get a read on her, no matter how well he tried to cover the desperation. Every cap ladama captures shows his rapt attention to Pam, hanging almost literally on her every word.

Karen, **sigh**. Go find your Jim. It oughta be obvious that Jim Halpert ain't it.

Hey Recorder! Good morning! I think we are the only two that are here this early. I often see your name on here when I post. I guess we are the early birds that get the worm.

Anyhoo, great point about Jim's eye contact, it was unflinching.

Oh yah, and Karen? Best of luck in NY. I'm sure there are a lot of great guys there for you.

Hey Beeswax! Yup, morning is "my time". smile.gif I'm a VERY early riser....like, early enough to be on here when the youngsters are going to bed. I love my cup o'joe and the Office boards first thing in the AM. Multiple pics of Jim in a hat ain't bad either. **sigh**

Great post R. Jim was so in tune to what Pam was saying. It mattered/matters a lot. Also intersting was Angela's little glance at him during Pam's speech. I thought that was very telling.
Angela is hiding her feelings for Dwight vis-a-vis her colleagues, so maybe the honesty hit home with her. But more importantly, she suspected Pam and Jim of having feelings for each other, from Office Olympics when she invented "PamPong" - counting the number of times Jim came up to the front and talked to Pam. Pam's furtive glance towards her as Jim praised her was when Angela very visibly marks another check connoting more pampongishness.
Little does Angela know that if Jim had a similar game for her and Dwight, his checkmark would be poster-length. Love the irony of Angela suspecting Jim and Pam's feelings a long time ago when Pam suspected Dwight and Angela since the double BabyRuth bars/E-mail surveillance.
NOt sure where this is leading, just flashes of Angela's sensitivity always jump out at me. I think Pam's speech made a big impact on her. I know it did me.

Good news is: no more wig! smile.gif
Bad news is : Looks like those pics of him and Karen in NYC are legit spoilers. Danm it!

^^Thank god that thing will be gone!

I peeked at your spoiler. It's nothing I didn't know or suspect already. But, the fact that I peeked is troublesome for me. I still have 5 days of staying strong and keeping spoiler free.

I'd better head over to Spoiler AA.

I'm glad for 2 reasons. One: No more awful wig. Two: I'd rather those scenes be used for this episode that for next season because that would mean Jim would be in NYC with Karen next season, and that would suck. I'm giving Jim to the end of the episode to come to his senses. So, he can go hang out with Karen in NYC as long as he is back home with Pam at the end of the day.

Ok, I don't want to harsh on the JAM Therapy mellow here, but I have a request.

Can we remain spoiler free on the therapy site for this week? Those black bars are just too tempting for those of us that are trying to remain spoiler free.

I think spoiler free speculation is ok, but if anyone hears or sees any spoilers or promos, can we keep it under our hats?

Thank you for your cooperation during this anxious and challenging time!
