Wow. There is so much great stuff in this thread. All of you guys have great insight and wonderful predictions.

I have noticed predictions are allowed here. Here is mine. The cold open will be a heated moment where Jim breaks Pam's heart after explaining she is too late, he has chosen Karen and they are going to move to New York together. While at the interviews, trusty Michael will say the absolute right thing at the right moment just before Jim's interview. Jim will consider for the first time since CN, that Pam is his match. Somehow having Pam on the brain will actually get Jim the promotion. As he is being offered the job, Jim will realize he is about to make the biggest mistake of his life. He will humbly explain that Karen is the best candidate for the job and refuse to take it. The ending will be a sullen and defeated Pam sitting at her desk. The phone rings. 'Dunder Mifflin, this is Pam.' The response, 'Dunder Mifflin this is Jim.' Roll credits.
I only read a couple of the other predictions, so if this sounds like anyone else, we think alike.
I love this. What I wouldn't give to hear "Dunder Mifflin this is Jim" *sighs*

Great post, lemonade!
I really have high hopes for Thursday's ep, too. It is different this time because there is hope. We know that Jim still loves Pam and now we know that Pam still loves Jim. I know, she didn't say it to Jim, but I think "I cancelled my wedding because of you" speaks volumes.
The great thing about Pam is that now I feel like, no matter what happens, she's going to be fine. All of the heartbreak she has gone through this season is now worth it. This girl has cancelled her wedding, started taking art lessons, sang at the bird funeral, tried in her own way to get Jim's attention (The Merger and BF) and opened up in front of Jim and the whole office and the direction of her life has now completely changed for the better.
Last night I watched Boys and Girls, Women's Appreciation and Beach Games back-to-back. I highly recommend watching these three eps together. B&G is a great example of old Pam: low self confidence, controlled by Roy. It's our Pam who was sittin' on her bisuit, never havin' to risk it. In WA and BG, we see Pam come to life.
Pam Beesly, you're my hero!
Great idea. I'm going to watch those 3 in a row. I don't know anymore. I'm so scared now about the whole JAM scenario. So I've decided to TRY to focus on what made me so happy about Pam in BG... Her personal growth and strength. As an individual character (totally separate from the JAM situation), she is utterly amazing. Since I started watching the show way back in S1, I've always loved her character. And to see her now is so rewarding. (I'm pretty sure) I can say that no matter what happens between Jim and Pam, I am so much happier and relieved at Pam's growth.

I've been thinking about the season finale bet and I was wondering what you all thought about this. We can divide the bet into 4 teams:
Team Blue: Phyllis was on this team and this bet would involve the belief that Phyllis will play a part in getting JAM together. It could be a well-placed comment or an outright action to get these two together.
I like this a lot, but I've been doubting Phyllis lately. Is there any way to get another team for Kevin playing that role? Maybe
Team Scrantonicity? Or maybe just consolidate the two so if either of them have a direct role in it we win???
I really think Kevin will play some sort of role here. Jim and Kevin are actually pretty good friends in comparison to a lot of the characters. And Kevin clearly has no problems bringing Pam/Jim up to Karen. And I really don't think Kevin even likes Karen all that much.

And my bet for the finale is the same as I've stated before. Jim moves back to his old desk. We know Ryan took that desk in the first place so that Jim would be forced to take the Desk of Estrangement for this season. Symbolism: facing Karen, back to Pam. Now there HAS to be a reason why Michael banished Ryan to the Annex. And that the desk is STILL empty, even since Andy has returned. I thought HE might want to confiscate the desk to be nearer to Michael's office. Or even Karen, to be nearer to Jim. But, no, the desk is still empty. For one reason and one reason only. Jim will reclaim the Desk of Love during the finale. Symbolic of his answer to Pam's speech: she misses him and the fun they used to have...i.e. S2. As they rebuild their friendship next season, "more than that" will gradually become a reality.
I hope, I hope, I hope....

This would be wonderful. Subtle, yet very symbolic. And the desk IS still empty.
And there is NO way the writers have overlooked that.

Anyone think of the scenario that no one gets the job in NY???? All three will still be in Scranton this season...
Actually, I hadn't thought about that at all, but I love the idea. A lot of people keep saying it's totally obvious that Karen is going to get the job, but this would be a marvelous twist. I was trying to imagine all 3 of them going and interviewing for the same position. I think Michael will be upset that Jim is going for it, but maybe he's too arrogant to even think Jim could get it over him. Either way, I think Michael will screw it up (he is Michael). I'm like 99.9% sure there is no way TPTB are going to have Michael out of Scranton anyway. I would think there would be a lot of emotional overflow from BG between Karen & Jim. I really can't see Jim screwing up his interview, but maybe, just maybe, he pushes for Karen to get the job and Karen pushes for Jim to get it. I think Karen might do this just to assure that Jim will be out of Scranton. She knows she would follow him, she already has. I think she would be more concerned with him following her if she gets the job. If each of them pushes the other to the interviewer, like "no, I'm not the best candidate, you should really go with...", the interviewer might perceive that as weakness, insecurity, or a lack of excitement about the position, and turn them both down.

I love this senario!! I think it would be fun!! Greg Daniels!! This would make me happy!! That and Jim at the DoL!!!
I am just thinking about Jim and how he is so scared at the moment, and how running away to New York to forget it all would just be easier than to deal with this all over agian. He was having fun with Karen up to this point, IMO it would just be easier for him and Karen to start new, tehn to rehash it all!!
I hope the office workers slap that boy ( and me) in the face!
Unfortunately, I agree with this. It makes sense.
