How will Jam fight? They will, to be both realistic and to add tension and comedy to the show.

But how? Pam is too sweet to start an argument and guys generally don't start arguments in relationships. How will the writers handle this?

Good question to pose Rocker Creed. At this point, I honestly can't picture them fighting! The honeymoon isn't even over yet! BUT, when and if the situation arises, it will be dignified. No yelling or name calling. No hurtful words. Just constructive discussions about whatever is bothering either of them--and then a lot of make-up sex!

I've been trying to think about what they'd fight over, but I'm drawing a blank.

The writers have done a great job with Dwight and Angela. They make a great couple, but the fight topics are in place - Dwight has already complained about having to drive her to church. Angela also jealousy issues. Both have dominance issues that could cause conflicts.

But with Jim and Pam I just don't see any issues. I think it has to be too much FNB, not enough Old Pam. I just don't see what other direction the writers can do in.

If they are truly together at the beginning of S4, (and the writers are not out to mind ***** us!!) I see a blissful honeymoon period. Lots of smiling and goo-goo eyes. I think a lot of the excitement we'll see from the JAM story line will be in them trying to keep their relationship on the down low. Lots of stolen moments and such. Not getting caught by Michael or Dwight in any situations that might embarrass them; yet having a really hard time keeping their hands off each other. I don't think they will keep their relationship a secret, but they will definitely not want to flaunt it in everyones faces.

As for potential fighting. ITA, I just can't picture any situations at this point that would come up. They never really fought in the past about anything when they were just friends and the few times things got icky between them, it was resolved in a calm and respectful manner. I don't see how that would change. They wouldn't all of the sudden become Ralph and Alice or anything.

The answer came to me -- When has Pam been annoyed with Jim?

2 times I can think of. In the Dojo when he's getting too physical with her. I think her annoyance was that he went a little too far considering thier relationship at that point. So she obviously wouldn't be mad at that anymore. However, if he got too physical at work and she felt that people would discover thier secret, I could see her getting a little miffed.

She also got angry with him over Roy and the art training. She knew Jim was right, but she still got mad. I don't remember the words, but I think she glared at him and said 'Do you have something you want to say?'.

I think things like this may be the root of conflict.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a HUGE Jam fan and I think they make a perfect couple. But the writers must introduce conflict to be realistic.

I agree but if they do it will be small non-essential tiffs that are quickly resolved or dragged over between episodes for suspense. They will not want to make JAM the focus of the show we have to remember this is a mockumentary and that means it is what a documentary crew will want to see or get to see. So I think that you will see the cameras be more probing and Pam and Jim more elusive because they have never been the ones to talk to the camera openly though FNB seems to not mind so maybe I am wrong with that point.

I agree, any issues will be minor. I don't see any major curveballs being thrown in thier relationships.

I'm kind of thinking their fights will be really light sort of like Monica and Chandler on Friends. I think they have had so much drama already that it will feel tired if they have them fight really dramatically. I think they will be a couple with their issues, but will somehow get through it because that is what happens in working relationships.

I noticed you mentioned their tiff at the Dodjo and have one comment. When I watch that scene I notice Pam is really happy/smiling. It isn't until Meredith looks at them when she gets upset. I think her ears were still ringing from Angela's comment of "Pam Pong" that got her to be angry with Jim. So, IMO it isn't really anything to do with Jim's actions, but moreso that she was getting caught having fun with another man.

I did just read a fanfic where Jim and Pam had it out when trying to talk over how they hurt one another over the years. They had been holding in thepain for so long that trying to talk it out brought it all to the surface and they both blew up at the other. It was well written and very believable. It worked out in the end (of course ) b/c they were able to release everything they had been holding back so there were no longer any bad feelings between the two of them and hey could really start new. It was about a couple weeks or so into the relationship so a small honeymoon followed by a HUGE fight followed by a HUGE honeymoon.

Thats the only plausible reason I can see for a fight at the moment. Or possibly one or the other is tired and the other says something that hits a chord and one says the other is acting like Roy/Karen and that sets off the storm.

This is an interesting subject and the time you noted and I bolded, RC, is one I that resonated with me. The other was when Pam told Jim he should go for the Baltimore job. So two cases were about ambition, or I should say lack of ambition. Given its apparent that Jim did not either get or take Jan's job, this subject may surface. Of course Pam is thrilled that he isn't going to NY... but just wondering if this lack of ambition will resurface somewhere down the road in either direction.

I'm thinking that any fighting that will go on will be over a miscommunication and will not involve shouting. They will probably try so hard to not hurt or offend each other that it will be very awkward.
