Oh my gawd! What a helluva way to end the season (this was the last show, right?).

"You can thank me later."

I LOVE it.

See? I knew that reporters's disclosure had all kinds of implications for their careers. Now what the **** is Joe going to do for work? How are they going to live?

I can't WAIT for January. Oooooooh--January is sooooooo far away.

And weren't you just astounded by how Scanlon lost his temper? I think that was the first time I ever saw him lose his cool like that. Definitely a different dimension to his character.

Sorry, I'm really trying to avoid spoilers, cuz I know there are some Westies out there who have yet to watch.

Why did the moderators bleep out my usage of h-e-double-hockey-stick in previous post? Curious....

I LOVED that ending, although it wasn't as good as last season's (it'll be hard for them to top that kiss in the rain). This ep had me hooked right up to the end. I never saw that coming until I saw him in bed with victim #4. Then it all became clear to me. And that last scene was AWESOME!! Her exit line was CLASSIC!!!

"You can thank me later."

Too perfect. And that scene with Scanlon. OMG, my jaw was on the floor. I couldn't BELIEVE he was talking to her like that! That totally threw me for a loop. But now we have to wait till next season to see what the repercussions are from all this. OMG, it's gonna be a long wait. Guess we'll have to make do with reruns. Thank God for dvrs and vcrs. I can watch the whole season over again.

I loved it also. I want to see what happens next. I just feel real sorry for everyone. Allison must feel really terrible about how all this has affected her famliy and coworkers. But she must rise above it all because in real life she's doing ok! I want to see how it all works out. I just don't want to see anymore of her husbands problems.

Joe will be able to find another lawyer to take the case, because regardless of what his wife believes, the terrible event at his job did occur to him and now he was fired because of it. At the very least, a lawyer will be able to find out some law violated by his company and it will cave. He'll find another job with his skills and will just move on. Allison, on the other hand, just may find riches. Open her own practice and getting paid for helping people connect to the dead. I bet she even writes a book. While it's now being portrayed as her being crazy - lotta folk believe this sort of thing and that's what we'll see next season. Her character is based on a real person...... smile.gif

GREAT ending to the season, great show! I was on the edge of my couch, biting my nails until the very end. I was even pulling for the reporter at the end, hoping that she'd be able to fight him off or get away. I really liked Neve Campbell in this role, even though she totally screwed Allison over, I could still see her side. I can't wait until January!

Ugh, January? I can't wait that long. What is going to happen to Davalos? They better bring him back.

You know, the more I think about this episode, the more I appreciate the show's intricate and clever writing.

1) Joe withdrawing from Allison seemed so organic and naturual, and in keeping with human nature. But consider how essential it was to the plot: because he withdrew from her, her loneliness prompted her to be uncharacteristically open with a stranger, who offered her much-needed solace during a time of great loneliness and uncertainty.

2) The use of the last victim's cell phone/voice recorder as a channel for Allison to see what happened was brilliant. It was continuous with the behavior that PD compulsively displayed throughout the last 3 episodes, and is a way for the DA's office to prove without a doubt that Paxton did it. Of course, we don't know yet if that evidence will be admissible, and whether it will make a solid case against Paxton. But judging from the strong confident air Allison had when walking out of that meeting room, I will bet Paxton will get his a** thrown back in jail.

I just **loved** the almost lyrical way the vision came to Allison. The call on the phone with no one on the other end, a literal call from beyond the grave. The knock on the door, which wasn't really a knock in the physical sense, and then her witnessing PD's and Paxton's entire conversation, not just what was said after she turned the recorder on.

3) True to her character, Allison had to make one last plea with PD to get her to change hotel rooms. Like, her reputation being shot to pieces and her life being turned upside down did not matter in comparison to the impending loss of a human life. Our heroine is so brave and noble!

Which leads to me a side question: is everything already predetermined in Allison's visions? Can no one alter the course of events, that no matter what one does, her visions WILL always come true? These are deep philosophical questions that I'm sure the screenwriters of the "Back to the Future" movies wrestled with. smile.gif

I didn't like the way the mystery's denouement was revealed in a very expository, overly obvious way through Pamela Franklin's and Paxton's "pillow talk" conversation. The show should trust viewers to understand through their own inferences and make the unraveling more subtle.

Other web sites are also pointing out that the police work must be very sloppy indeed if the cell phone lay undetected under PD's piles of papers.

Anybody else have any thoughts, or are you busy working, as you should be? smile.gif

I agree with everyone you said, wendy. The episode was excellent as always, though it was a little disappointing after the buildup of the previous episodes. The use of the cellphone was a brilliant way to reveal the killer to Allison, and give her the evidence needed to convict Paxton and vindicate herself. That was very creepy when the phone rang and there was no one there, and then the knock on the door. Again, the writers have shown how clever they are. I too, read the comments from other viewers on other boards about the sloppy police work, but I consider that a minor detail in an otherwise excellent show.

That being said, here's the problem that I had with the episode. First of all, it didn't feel like a typical episode of Medium. It felt more like a dream, and I kept expecting Allison to wake up. Also, Devalos disappearing suddenly and Scanlon turning on Allison the way he did was very out of character for both of them. And did anyone else notice that the episode played completely differently than in the previews. In the preview, we saw Debra being attacked by a masked man in her hotel room, and we saw Allison firing a gun. Neither of those scenes were in the episode that aired. And overall, the episode felt rushed and then ended abruptly. Which leads me to believe that either it was changed at the last minute, or that there is more to the story, that we will hopefully see next season. I wouldn't be surprised if the next season started with Allison waking from a dream (i.e. this last episode). If anyone can pull that off, the writers of Medium can. But I just thought the episode ended suddenly and left too many questions unanswered, which is why I think there may be more to it. Or at least I hope there is. I would really hate to think that the writers of my beloved Medium would do a story arc like that and end it that way. It just doesn't make sense.

I agree that it seemed too much like a dream. Your idea that she may "wake up in Sept." is an interesting theory. ---I was slightly surprised that it didnt end with her waking up. But I liked the ending, and if that's the way they keep it, I will be satisfied. --- I'm not worried about the family getting back on its feet. It is one of the happiest, strongest families on tv. And, I've been tricked far too often with season finales that turn out to be a "puff of smoke" come the first 1 or 2 episodes the next season. (even like the "ER" closing for remodeling....nothing happened! what a waste of worrying) Obviously it's about a "real woman" who is doing well in her life, AND they need to get back to storywriting... so, I'm not going to spend the summer worrying. --- It was a well written script, greatly due to the depressed husband part, and Allison getting exposed. But it's suppose to be a mystery-solving psychic, and they "lost their way". It will be interesting what they come up with next year to keep it from getting stale. Hmm, maybe 10 episodes about one of the girl's using her psychic abilities. (I'd be happy if it was back the way it originally was--- one story per episode--- I didnt consider it stale).

I agree about the ending. I wouldn't be TOO disappointed if they left at that. But at the same time, it would be nice to see them offer a real conclusion to this story. The family is strong and they will get through it , I have no doubt. And Joe will either get his job back or find another one. The story was very well-written and again showed why I think Medium has the best writers in television. I liked the multi-episode story arc as a season ender, but I don't think they will continue to do that next season. I feel certain they will go back to the single episode stories, which I loved. I don't care for the shows that you have to follow all season long or over multiple seasons to keep up with what's going on (though I do watch every single episode of Medium religiously). I think we'll see some more of the girls' coming into their abilities next year, as we saw hints of this year. The big question is going to be How are they going to allow Allison to keep doing her job now that she's been exposed?. Tune in next year.
