All the winners interviewed on Larry King & some other shows, at least all the contestants I've seen, state they were chosen from a casting call. They say they had 2 interviews after waiting ump-teen hours in line & basically were chosen there and then.

I would like to know if anyone has EVER been picked from a video application/audition? What is the process for that? Do they call you to do one of those "MOCK" games, too? Anyone know???

I wonder if they really ever look at them or if they just end up in an endless pit of videos & pictures of loved ones?

Yes, they do pick people from the video tapes. If you read some of these blogs, you would see "Bolander2" had a call back from his/her video tape. However, they did say that 80% of the contestants come from the casting calls.

My husband made the second interview, they videotape that and the mock game, what the casting director told him, was that the tapes are reviewed, if the producer doesnt' see a smile or enthusiasm on the first few seconds of tape he'll fast forward or just toss it........this waiting is causing me to pull my hair out, LOL

did he send in a video orgo to an open call?

It was open call, but, the casting director said normally they check all videos casting calls and ones submitted, which makes this even more nerve wracking LOL

My Audition (by video)

Does anyone know of any contestants selected from a video application as opposed to going to an open casting call? I sure hope they are, because we live a long way from any open calls! I sent in my audition materials a while back, and have not heard anything. In looking back on it, although my video was creative, I think I may have looked a little unenthusiastic in it (I was just coming down with a nasty cold). And, the rules state that you can only send in one application, so I can't re-do it. So...I have posted a little video plea on youtube! I used a series I'm working on (just for fun...dog related...nothing commercial) as the basis for the plea. The other videos in the series will be about other subjects, but this one is about Pursuing Dreams...using my quest to be on DOND as an example!

You ain't the only one, man. I went to my first open call audition for the show on Janaury taking place at Miami, FL. I went with my brother since we're twins so we can double our chances. Thought the show never had twins in the show and thought we had better probabilities to get picked but that's not until we saw that one episode featuring not one but two pairs of twin girls playing. I got a bit depressed about it but I didn't gave up from there. After a couple of months since the audition, I decided to send in my application for the show. I filled up the form attached with a copy of my ID, photos of myself and my supporters, and the 5-minute video. I know it arrived dsafely since I had delivery confirmation and send it by priority mail. No word from them still. Dude, I wish you the best of luck if you get picked. And all you casting directors and producers out there, I'm Adrian Santos. I did went to your open call that took place in Miami with my twin brother Jonathan and then sent you guys my application afterwards.

My friend told me that the producers supposedly came up to her at her work and told her she should try out to be a DOND girl. I just saw on tv that like playboy models tryout and don't get picked. I wonder if she was lying to me?

I don't know anything about the model auditions... I have no worries about that, as I know I am definitely NOT model material! I was referring to applying to be a contestant.
