QUESTION...
;o)
All season we've seen Jim leave the office with this brown bookbag/messenger bag. Does anyone know which company makes this?
Sorry if this has been posted already (I just joined the msg.board). I know this is a pretty obscure question, but I was hoping someone would know ;o)
thnx

I don't know the answer to your question, but it made me think of another question. What does Jim carry in that bag and why? He can't possibly be taking work home with him to do- he doesn't like his job THAT much.

My buddy at work carries one, we call it his man-purse. It basically functions the same way. He has his iPod (which Jim has in "The Client") and a wallet, organizer, sunglasses.
Maybe they could do an episode where someone takes it accidentally and when the warehouse finds it we can all see the crazy stuff he carries inside.

ooooo! great spot to post a question ive been dying about! In the pilot episode, Roy walks in and Jim asks him and Pam to go out for a drink. Roy is holding a bag and Jim says "What's in the bag?" and Roy looks at him and says "I gotta go."
Weird!? what WAS in that bag?

P.S. I think Jim looks really hot carrying that bag. Trying to get hubby to trade in his boring briefcase for one. No luck yet....

i actually own one like jims, i've used it for about 5 years, since high school. it makes it really easy to access things without having to take a backpack off. you can get some nice ones from manhattanportage.com

I'm actually in the market for a new bookbag and kind of like the look of the one on the show...any idea of who we'd ask about what brand that one is--I'm pretty sure it's not a Manhatten Portage because those have that enormous red tag on the front.

My fiance has a gray one from the Gap he's been using, just got a brown one on clearance from Old Navy. He carries his phone, mp3 player, lunch, book, sunglasses, etc in it...but he also takes public transportation to work.

I bet this has come up before, but I can't find a post. Also, I thought it would be a nice break from all the finale obsessing.
Does anyone know exactly what kind of bag it is that Jim uses? I'm actually looking for a messanger bag and I like the neutral color of it. Plus, he's been using it for about 3 years now, so it must be pretty durable.
I've often wondered what he keeps in there since I doubt he's taking his work home with him.
- First I suppose would be his ham and cheese sandwiches and carrot sticks.
- Probably quite a few Jello packs for slow prank days.
- Maybe a small notepad with Dwight prank ideas and things Dwight says/does that he can use for future pranks.
- The card he was going to give to Pam on Christmas, but backed out at the last moment, in case he gathers the strength again or for memories. (though now it doesn't matter

)
Anyone else have any ideas? If you know what bag it is, please let me know.

Actually, there are 2 ancient threads - one is on where can you get a bag like that and one is on what Jim carries around in it. I did a couple of quickie searches and couldn't find them, but will try again in the morning when I'm not so exhausted.
As long as he doesn't have that hideous wig in there, I'm OK.

I have always thought that Jim's is the same manpurse that Jack Bauer carries in
24. My two favorite TV heroes and one is #2 man in the Scranton office and the other is Dwight's number one pick to succeed the current #2. Coincidence? I think not

Wow, thank Officionada! At first I thought someone hijacked my thread! If you found that info I'd be very appreciative.
I've been doing some looking online without much luck. I've found quite a few sites displaying the "jackPack" from 24, but nothing on Jim's. I guess he's not as highly-regarded by guys in general as Jack Bauer is. I'd much rather be a Jim than a Jack any day though.

Moving on, I think Jim has a few obvious things: his lunch, an ipod, maybe an organizer. But does Jim need an organizer? I've never seen him with one, and I'm sure he just keeps his appointments on his computer or soemthing... I doubt he needs his appointment book outside of work (like someone else said--he doesn't like his job that much!). I don't remember if we've seen him carrying his wallet in his back pocket, so I guess it's possible he carries it in the bag. Or maybe he is a snacker and has a lot of snacks (like jello!). He might have his keys in there, a checkbook maybe, and probably some random pranking items (although prior to this past episode, it may not have contained those, as Karen most likely cleaned them all out...).
Oh yeah, and it also has a special secret pocket where he keeps an 8x10 of Pam...

Here's my speculation on what's in it:
Before: ipod, his car and apartment keys, lunch, snacks, comb
Now: A sketch pad complete with drawings of a certain paper salesman, keys to Pam's fancy new apartment, a new Soduko book he bought for Pam, no more comb as he has gone back to his Jim hair, Altoids, gum, condoms.

... are you saying in addition to the previous items? (sans the comb) because I think he would still put his snacks, lunch, and ipod (he's gotta have that ready for on-the-spot dates with a grilled-cheese dinner and swaying

I've seen his PSP on a desk once or twice, so he probably hauls that along too. Part of me hopes that he is the kind of guy who always has a book with him, but somehow, i don't think that a book would make the cut for the jimbag.

In Drug Testing, he pulls his wallet out of his front pocket (weird!) to pay Pam for the Coke...OMG I really need to get a life.
Maybe Jim brings some work home with him? But it's more likely that that "work" is actually related to pranks. He does often need props...and maybe on off days, he just brings the bag so that Dwight won't catch on. Otherwise, it would be a huge tell: messenger bag = prank. Just like how whenever Jim gets a good hand in poker, he coughs.
May I just say that I LOVE threads like this?

Wow, thanks QoE. Those are some nice bags. I'm pretty sure it's fabric, but I can't recall an episode that has a really good shot of it. I finally broke down and got one from Amazon. Unfortunately, after getting it I found out it's the same one Jack Bauer uses/used in "24".
A fanny pack, huh? Mm hmm, mm hmm. Yeah, I think I'm going to stick with the messenger bag, but thanks for the the idea. Tell you what, why don't you take the rest of the day to try to get other people to start wearing them again, and then come back and tell me how it goes.

I'm fairly certain that Jim's bag S1&S2 is not the same one he used in S3. The new one has buckles on the front, the old one didn't. That being said, I still can't figure out where it's from. I thought the old one looked kind of like a Jack Spade bag.

Thanks, Officionada. I think it's the same bag. The strap looks the same and the the way the strap fabric extends a little onto the bag on the side there.
Those Jack Spade bags are pretty nice, Mixedberries, but not quite the same. I guess it's a pretty dorky obsession, but when I can't find an answer to a question I have, I have to keep looking until I find it!

LOL
I'm in training with a few of my co-workers and one of 'em wore a fanny pack. He's not too much older than me abt early 30's or so. He carried his little fanny pack because he didn't feel like pockets could fit all his 'stuff'. The ladies in the class (myself included..hehe) ragged on him about the fanny pack. He wore it to the side and covered it with his semi-baggy shirt. We told him that it looked like he had a growth on his hip or that it was displaced. I asked him if he was like the grandpa in Little Miss Sunshine and kept 'goodies' in the bag. We were explaining how 'manpurses' are the new 'in' thing and taht he should replace the fanny pack with one asap. but he wouldn't budge...He was convinced that the fanny pack was cool...buuuuuuuut after a good week of teasing..he has finally bought a 'man purse'.
