Hello Heroes fans.
Here is the Official Nathan Thread!!Ok so if you have not guessed it I am a complete and total Nathan fan. I have been a huge fan of his since the very beginning. He captivated me when he met Peter in that alley and Peter was on top of the building. I loved the devotion and love he had for his brother.
When they were bringing his character in the "evil" direction, I didnt care, he was still my #1 Heroe. I knew he wouldnt just let the city blow up and not interseed.
On the season finale Nathans scenes actually brought tears to my eyes. Ya you may think Im lame for tearing up , but it was very touching and moving. His family came first and that is the Nathan we saw in the beginning.
I watched the season finale like 20 times already and I rewind and replay the scenes with Nathan in them. He is just so beautiful and sincere.NATHAN YOUR MY HERO.. Can I fly away with you??!!
OK Now Im done gushing over my favorite Heroe and his hotness and beauty.
If your a Nathan Fan feel free to post here or GUSH over Senator Pettrelli!!!!

I thought I am the only person who likes Nathan. I never expected there are many others who like his characters as well.
Hmm, let's see. I like how he went out of his way to that small alley to check up on Peter just because Peter gave him a phone call. For crying outloud, if my brother calls me when I'm busy at work, I'll probably tell him to get a grip and wait until I finish working. But no, Nathan actually went out of his campaign and went to that alley on his own instead of sending one of his people to check on Peter.
I also like his interaction with Hiro starting in "Hiro". The other characters seem to dismiss or ignore Hiro at the start of the story but Nathan actually bother to give him a ride back to Vegas. If it wasn't for Nathan, Hiro would probably never be able to penetrate Linderman's secret gallery and would never be able to get his sword. Without said sword, he would not be able to get his confidence to go to the future and found out what's waiting in store if they can't stop the bomb. So I think Hiro and Nathan's friendship was integral in stopping the bomb. Nathan was clearly disturbed when his friend called him a 'villain'.
I love how he spent 2 weeks at the hospital waiting for Peter to recover. That's some important campaign time gone missing. I think it's from that point that he realises how important Peter is for him. I think everything culminates to that part where he found Peter's 'dead' body. It was then that he realised that he defines much of his action based on what Peter thinks of him. Peter doesn't believe him back then but the finale proves this. I love how he wouldn't let Peter going through the horror on his own. He proved to Peter that he really is the brother that Peter wished he would be.
Anyway, that's enough rambling from me.

Great Post and Nope, I LOVE NATHAN.. not only is he hot, but he is a deep character and very complex which makes for good viewing. Im glad im not the only Nathan Appreciator here!
Yes at the part where Nathan and Hiro were talking about the Bomb and Nathan walked away and Hiro called him a "villian", you could see the pain in Nathans eyes, him knowing that is not what was in his heart. Although his mother was pushing for this bomb and the "rebuilding" of NY with Nathan leading them on, Nathan knew deep down inside it was not worth all the lives that would be lost.
Just like when Peter called him to the alley, he didnt leave his brother all alone. He came there to be with his brother, possibly knowing that that moment would be a pivital moment in their lives which is was. Then on the season finale he was there again. He told Peter he was not going to leave him , and he finally was the brother Peter knew he was.
Gosh Im tearing up thinking about the episode and Peter looking at Peter with devotion and saying "Im not leaving you Peter" just makes my eyes water!!!

Nathan has been my favorite since the beginning. I thought I was strange, because everyone else seemed to hate him. He appears to be more well-liked now though, so, that's good.

I just remember the good old days in the fandom that was full of Nate!Hate.

I mostly like Nathan because I see a lot of potential in him to be the leader of a justice league kind of group. He has the charisma to be a leader that much we know but so far he's been on the wrong side, so to speak. I think he can do a lot of good if Peter, Hiro, and the others can recruit him to the good side.
I am also a big fan of his supersonic flying. I just think it looks unbelievably cool and reminds me of "The Rocketeer" for some reason. By the way, did you guys notice how smooth he lands on the ground in the finale in comparison to the skit he did back in episode 5? This time around he's in control of his power and managed to stop easily in front of Claire. It makes me wonder if he's been secretly practicing on his own at night. I would like the writers to develop his power so that there are more to it than just flying. I think it wouldn't be out of question to believe that he has invincibility while flying. That's the only way I can explain as to why his skin is not ripped off or his body are not torned apart while flying at such great speed.

That rocks, or maybe some type of protective barrier forms around him when he is flying at super sonic speeds. I also dont think he flys that fast all the time. We know he can control the rate, I remember when Peter threw Claude off the roof to get away from HRG and the Hatian, then when he flew him back to his place, they were flying pretty darn slow LOL.
I would like to know if by flying fast Nathan can create other defenses with his flying with super winds or whirl wind, like if he flew around in a circle he can create like a super funnell like a tornado of some kind??

Nathan shares the distinction of being my favorite character with Mr. Bennet. I love him so much I want to say he's my favorite, but I also have the same squeeful adoration for Bennet, so they're kind of tied.
I love the darkness and complexity of his character. He's so human, in both his strengths and his frailties. I loved how paralyzed he was during the last part of the season, so terrified of what was going to happen to Peter and the world that he simply couldn't act. It made him real and human.
I love how (much like Bennet, oddly enough) he is a dark character redeemed by love.
I love how, in the midst of everything, he's still trying (and actually somewhat managing) to hang on to his normal life (well, as normal as anyone running for Congress's life can be...).
I think he's a wonderful character with lots of stories left to tell.
And also, it doesn't hurt that Adrian Pasdar is scorchingly hot.

Yea! More Nathan fans, always good to see. I’m sort of a sucker for a guy in a suit and also the whole flying thing drew me right to Nathan from the start. Also I soon fell in love with the fact he rejected the fact he could fly and hide it from the world and himself for the most part. Deep down he is a good guy that wants to do good but he gets lead astray by what society and his family asks of him. I think Nathan and Peter are extremely similar but they are different now because of what and were not asked of them. Nathan was the oldest and the one people had plans for. At one point I think he was a day dreamer but he had to put that away behind him to rise to the challenges set before him.
I was happy in the end for him to see he can break free from the hold people had on him. It was a bit sad to see how trapped Nathan was and it’s easy to dislike people who become puppets. It’s also hard to break free of such a thing if you have been one for most of your life if you know it or not. I saw some mirrored problems of my own in Nathan but not in a literal term and it was wonderful to see him pick his own path in the end. It gave me hope that I can break free from my own prison of people.
But overall I like Nathan the best because at first look he’s one thing but if you look a little deeper he’s another. Not many of the other people on the show are like that. Also the flying is so very awesome, I use to spend a lot of time as a kid just looking up at the sky day dreaming about the clouds and what it would be like to go up into the sky. Then to see a man who can do such a thing and not. To not fully embrace a gift people have longed for since man could dream really. That’s a really interesting guy.

Nathans loving qualities and ability to put Peter first before his political campaign was key for me.
Also when he flew down and said to Claire " The future isnt writen in stone" You could see the genuine and undying love that Nathan has for his daughter. He didnt want to let something like this rest in Claires hands. Nathan missed out on most of Claires life due to his manipulative mother. It was nice to see him right what wrongs he could before Peter took thousands of lives.
In the end I would say Nathan and HGR have the biggest hearts and both are great figures for Claire to look up to!

I think I recognize some peeps here from the 9th Wonders Board. YAY NATHAN FANS!!

Also, an interesting thing I noticed when rewatching "Godsend" -- when Hiro says "We must stop him [the exploding man]", Nathan says "I think I can help". There are little moments like that all throughout the series that substantiate the claim that the writers intended Nathan to be the big hero in the end (since the first episode). I want to go back and rewatch all the episodes for the little things Nathan says that make a lot more sense after seeing the finale.

I always thought that Nathan was supposed to be the big heroe. Not only from scenes , but from pictures. You always saw Nathan standing in the middle of all the Heroes, and it looked like he stood taller than the rest. He looked like SUPER MAN!!! He had the looks of a leader!!!!

I thought the same thing! I mean, I never doubted Nathan. I knew he would be a hero -- and by the episode "Fallout" I was fairly certain he was going to fly Peter away (that was one of the only things I didn't like about the finale... was how predictable it was). But I am glad that Nathan came through.

OMG i so didnt expect for nathan to come down and fly Peter away. It wasnt predictable for me. Although I try and stay away from spoilers and speculation because I like to be suprised and shocked at what is going to happen. I was totally in SHOCK when Nathan flew down and landed in front of Claire and said to her what she said to him earlier in the show "the future isnt writen in stone" OMG the look that Nathan gave claire and the look she had on her face, the look she gave her father was of finall acceptance and love. I loved it. Then he turned to Peter and he kinda let them both know that he wasnt leaving them. OMG Im tearing up again!!!''

Yay! Nathan Appreciation Thread!

It's nice to see this thread around these boards... Nathan doesn't get a lot of love unlike some Heroes characters...
I didn't really like Nathan at first. I had a bad first impression of him in the first episode. Like Hiro said: "I thought you were mean." I also missed the episode where he flew away from Noah Bennet/HRG and the Haitian which was a disappointment. But when I watched Godsend, I saw him in a completely different light. He was very caring and worried about Peter. He was nice to Hiro, to my surprise (because I also didn't watch that episode... >_<). After that episode, I started liking him and thinking that he was actually a good person and he doesn't care entirely about his career.
I'm also not a fan of his power before. I thought flight was boring and it wasn't flashy enough unlike other abilities. I also have a fear of heights so that's another minus... I did see some animated GIFs of him flying, and I thought that was really cool. At first, he didn't have control over his power, and he only found out that he can fly was when he and Heidi were being ambushed. It's just too bad that this is one of many reasons he has of not wanting to fly. But as the season progresses, I can really notice the huge improvements he had during the few times that he flew. Especially in the finale where he flew and dropped in easily in front of Claire. His self-propelled flight probably has other side-effects. Maybe he has invulnerability when he's flying? If he can fly that fast without something to protect him, not only would his clothes get ripped off, his skin would as well... Perhaps that would be clearer next season? Or we have to keep guessing?
I like his interactions with Peter and Hiro best. You can really see the bond between Nathan and Peter, and I'm glad that Angela was proven wrong about Peter's love for his older brother was only one-sided. And whenever Nathan and Hiro are together in a scene, they always makes me giggle. They're just so cute together!

It's too bad Hiro didn't get to see Nathan's heroic act in the finale. "Flying man is not villain, flying man is
HERO!" Nathan's interactions with Claire need some work though. It would be nice to see them in a good father-daughter relationship.

The interaction between Nathan and Peter and Nathan and Hiro are always the two main things that I look forward in the series. I think Adrian is such a gifted actor and his scenes with both Milo and Masi have a lot of good rapport in them. I hope the writers will keep it up in second season.

Its to bad that Hiro didnt get to see Nathan come down and prove himself not to be the "villian" that Hiro thought he was.
I know Nathan had to be torn, he had his mom in one ear and his family Claire and Peter in the other, both wanting opposite things.
Im so happy that the fatherly instinct kicked in and Nathans heart which is very deep and protected most of the time.
He let us in his heart and showed us he was more than a puppett!

i have always really liked nathan and i think he got pushed into this life and didnt really want to be in. He said he had once cared for meridth gold and he prolly would have married for her if SOMEONE (his mom) didnt convince him that she was dead. If nathan had the chance he would be exactly like peter. the caring nurse that everybody loves. I personally love him, the actor, just eveything about him! When he went to texas to see her and claire, he was crying in the limo after he left, that made me tear up and i was so sad, he genuinly cared. I think that was the first time i really liked him.
In the season finale i was so mad and so happy at the same time that he sacrafices himself. I applauded him but at the same time i almost broke the tv because i did not want to see him die. I believe the actor will return but not actually nathan and i will be sad because it will not be the same guy but i congradulate all the writers directors and actors at nbc i think that was a beautiful way to end. I so hope that somehow Nathan survived the explosion and will be joining the rest of the Heroes for next season. Killing off Nathan when they have just really begun to show us the diversity and depth of his character really serves him no justice. I always thought he would end up being like the leader or something like that. Like on the pics you always see him standing in the middle and looks like he is standing taller than the rest. I knew he would end up playing a big role and his actions at the end was just perfect.

Stating that you know a spoiler that reveals Nathan to be alive is a spoiler in itself.
The character Nathan was brilliantly written. I like how Nathan always decried his power as being worthless but in the end turned out to be the most valuable. Also for the record I never thought Nathan to be a villain, I always knew he would do the right thing, and I think he always plan to.

i hope he really does come back
in my personal opinion that petrelli bros are the strongest characters in this show
if you have a sibling you can easily connect to the two
i am the youngest in my family and i have two older sisters
my oldest sister always bails me out of trouble
i love the moments with these two and hope to see more

My pre-teen daughter said that Clarie is the luckiest girl in the world because she had not only one but two great dads.
But think about what we have seen: There were three hugs of Nathan and Claire, which were all for the purpose of manpulation, one ended with Claire dive out a window and one, in 5YG, ended with her dead. Hope there will more of these two having a reunion hug someties in the future.
Yes so true. Claire is a lucky gal. I am looking forward to more Petrelli family action!

Its going to be so hard all summer wondering if Nathan was killed or flew away at the last minute. You know what else, I want to know what exactly Nathans moms ability is!

Nathan was never a bad guy, he was a typical older brother.
He served in the armed forces and is able to take orders, he knows that sometimes few may have to sacrifice for the survival of the many. He knows that you have to take a stand to do the right thing and this is where the self doubt about what he is ordered to ignore comes into play.
His father was his hero and i believe he doubted the statements made from those who told him his father was weak.
Nathan was secretive and authourative, he took big risks to try and do the right thing. He is a Hero.
BTW Adrian is !#$%$ good actor!!

Adrian Pasdar is fantastic. He has captivated me since the scene in the alley with Peter in the first episode. Oh and boy is he HOT!
