Ok, I know there's already a "what are you doing?" thread for summer 07, but that's more of a "passing the time" kinda thing. This one is purely for goals. things you want to get done (or need to get done) over the summer. If you post them here, we can check up on you and see how far you've come.

Here's mine.

Office-related:
>>Get to 3000 posts
>>Watch S1 and S2 at least five times all the way through
>>Write 3 or more fanfics (and one of them a musical!)
>>Catch the two epis I missed when they rerun (BF, ST)
>>Recruit a new flan
>>See some JK and JF movies (particularly, License to Wed, LilliLove, Blades of Glory, and Shrek the Third)

Non-Office-related:
>>Lose another 15 lbs
>>Organize my room
>>Become a Red Jacket in Mary Kay
>>Finish one of my books (writing, not reading)
>>Watch at least 5 movies with Ewan McGregor
>>Teach my dog how to speak

Ok, I think that's it for now. Anyone else?

-kicking my own as.s into doing 3 miles a day on my treadmill 4-5 times a week. And 30 minutes a day on the elliptical. Since December I have totally slacked off on my exercising and it really shows and all my clothes are tight now.

-finishing part of the attic into a usable space. Hel| i'm tempted to put up a sheet to hide hubbys 10,000+ book collection and Army gear.

-finish painting my kitchen cabinets.

-complete my duties as Mrs. Pennsylvania without having to go to rehab or have a sex tape discovered
Pam_Halpert_1
my biggest one is getting back into shape. I used to be such a workout Nazi, but now my clothes are tight and I can tell I am not as fit as I used to be.

Plus it will be nice to know I can wear a size 4 agian... sigh, those were the days!

I also need to clean my room and get ready for the next semester of school to start!!
Cate the Great
I have no goal except this: Never be home for more than 6 hours a day, and that is time alotted for sleep.
snogging_staplers
-keep working to save up $$$ for laptop & other things for college
-get to 2000+ posts
-*possibly start a fansite or a thread (would I get merged?) for my Office avatars
-keep my new car clean (squee!)

*I don't think my avatars are good enough.
Cate the Great
I like your avatars!

smile.gif Thanks! However, Darth Schrute made the one I'm using now...So it's really his avatar. I just requested it. unsure.gif

Since so many of us are trying to be more active, we should try to support eachother on that. I like the idea of community as an incentive to be fit, but I don't like the online groups because so many people are obsessive! Would you all like to help keep tabs on each other to make sure we're all staying on the wagon?

mambo_no_5
I dont have that many summer goals, but the two that I have made so far are:
-To run/actually exercise at least 4 times a week
-To do stuff this summer and not waste it away...I only have a couple of these before I head off to college and I need to make the most of them aka not sit in my room and watch tv all day, even though its 85 outside

I'm with you. My goal is to get to the gym 5-6 times per week. This isn't optional, it's a must. If anyone else wants me to "motivate", (aka, kick their a$$) them to exercise, let me know. wink.gif

In fact, what am I doing here, I'm going to go ride he bike. dry.gif dammit.

I'm a little worried - Next week I start classes two very late nights a week. I will be able to get to the gym 3 times a week at most. Someone is going to have to kick my a$$ Monday and Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings.

Any volunteers?

Edit: I could go at 6 AM and get there 6 times a week, but who am I kidding?

Question. Can I literally kick your butt?

I'll make a deal with you, or anyone else who's interested. If you go Monday & Wednesday nights, and Saturday morning, then I will too, (those days). Then we can encourage each other to get. it. done.

Goals:

-get to 500 posts on this board
-learn every country on the earth (maybe move on to capitals, i dunno)
-get tanner (i'm pasty tongue.gif )
-build up vocabulary immensely
Pam_Halpert_1
so not getting to the best start. I got up at 7... but I did not get out of bed until well now.

I weighed myself today... I was not happy with what I saw, so I think I now have the motivation to run everyday!! I think I am going to have the goal of getting back to my normal weight 115!!! Yeah that is never going to happen...dry.gif

Today I am going to try to clean my room so that I can get ready for summer school!!! smile.gif

To everyone who is trying to get in shape, have you already joined a gym? I'm just asking because I finally gave in and joined a Curves after my jeans were way too tight. I stopped for six months when I was out of work and I could feel the difference so I rejoined. It is a half hour workout that is really not that bad. I definitely recommend it if you have limited time and especially if you are self-conscious about working out in front of men--like I am! I also have a little more energy. I am so glad I got off my a$$ and started moving again!
Pam_Halpert_1
I would love to join a place like that, but the money is the problem for me. My college has a gym in it, but reading a book and working out does not go hand in hand for me. I am going to try to make a certian time everyday I run. Like 2. I think I come home from school and can run for about 30 mins, before working on school work.

It has gotten to the point where I think joining a gym is the only way I am going to whip my a.ss into shape!

Yeah, once they started charging my credit card monthly, it made me a lot more determined!! When I went to the Manhattan one it was $65 a month, but the Queens one is $40, so I feel like I am getting a deal and that makes me go more, too!! I need the structure and the automated voice saying "Change stations now"!
Pam_Halpert_1
yes I need that as well. I need a trainer telling me GO GO.. Don't slack off.. one more time.

The structure! You know I was thinking I could try to take a fitness class at college, but there is nothing open at the moment. We have butterfly club over here. I might go find curves.. I can look it up right??
rocker creed
My summer goals -

Limit my time staring at Sammy57's sig photo to 1 hour a day.

Teach my kids to swim

Bike as much as possible, thus drive as little as possible.

Add 30 minutes a day to my guitar practice schedule.

Build my kids each a computer.

Record a version of The Office theme song on classical guitar

Yeppers (LOL!!) go to Curves International and put in your zip code. Hopefully this link works--I am really bad with adding links sometimes! http://www.curves.com/

Great goal! Not that I'm into knitting or anything, but I think it's great when people want to learn a new skill.
CrushOnJim
-- spend more time reading actual books, rather than watching vapid, worthless summer tv
programming (if it's not The Office, why bother?)

-- spend a little less time on The Office MB (no offense, guys) and use that time to work out

-- rent Arrested Development to see what I've been missing

-- purchase and watch the entire UK The Office series and the 1st 2 seasons of Extras (wait, what
happened to reading books?)
sharladawn
My goals are:

-Be more active -- it's summer for heaven's sake! Get outside and do something out in the beautiful sunshine!

-Find a new apartment. This is a HUGE one!

-Save money for London (I'm going there next summer!)

-Post new clips in my countdown thread once every two or three days until the premiere.

-Go to a water park. It's been years since I've been to one and I really want to go down a water slide!

-BBQ a lot!

I'm doing the same thing with Extras, but I'm cheating and getting it from the library. It goes along with my goal to save money! wink.gif I've been on the hold list for Season 1 for about a month and a half!

That reminds me, I think it's time for me to change my avatar ... that can be another one of my goals.

And I want to start riding the train to work. Gas is getting too expensive. Plus I'll be doing my part to help out the environment.

I do belong to Curves. I lost 30 pounds last year and haven't gained any of it back yet.

I'm surprised at the price range quoted in Wedd329's post. It probably does depend on the market. I pay $34 a month.

Find a job I can stand.

3 rounds of golf a week, and reach the ever-elusive 60s in a round.

Spend as much time as possible with the people I care about.

and lastly...

Invent a legitimate word that rhymes with orange, submit it to Webster's, and finally be able to finish that poem I've been working on for years.

If you meant the second section there...Could I have a definition? Synonyms? Use it in a sentence? I'm not sure that word will work for what I need it to, but it's a start..

(Until The Office reaches the kind of global popularity of Harry Potter, I don't think Webster's will accept it!)

Congratulations on the weight loss!!! I love how they put the stats on the wall "So & so lost 5 inches and 10 pounds". When I finally got on the wall, I was so proud! The program is a little repetitious, but it does work!!! When I was paying $65 a month it was at a Curves on 38th & 3rd in Manhattan, which I expected because of the NYC rents. The $41 now is in Queens, NY--still NY, just not as expensive! $34 a month is awesome. If you go three times a week , you're only paying $3 a visit-- that is an awesome deal!

I've heard wonderful things about Curves. My mother-in-law has been interested in it for awhile and I was talking to her about how important it is for women to do strength training to protect their bones and to keep their metabolism up. I think for most women, it is a scary thing to even think about lifting because they don't want to bulk up. So, anyways, she joined last month and she LOVES it. She gets a total body workout and I think there's a lot of confidence that comes with toning.
sharladawn
Well guys, I'm off to a good start. Last night I started doing pilates again. I love pilates! It is seriously awesome! Last summer I was trying to get in better shape for my sister's wedding. I did pialtes almost everyday for 2 months and I lost about 20 pounds! And it's so easy to do! Goll, I sound like I should be on one of those late night infommercials don't I? laugh.gif

So, my goal is to do pilates 5 times a week.
