QUOTE(Jazzman @ May 28 2007, 11:42 AM) Being from the Not Hot Club myself, I guess this is encouraging to a point. The unspoken truth here, though, is that if she doesn't like the way you look, personality doesn't help at all. Same for him, too. Guys are almost as shallow as women: almost but not quite.

And what is Hot at the moment? I just want to know whose ideals I'm failing to live up to this week.

QUOTE (sedimentary @ May 28 2007, 12:09 PM) *
Someone must have thought you were hot because you have two children, correct?? So I think the only ideals you should be trying to live up to this week is that of your wife (or significant other) and girls.

I'm not out dumping my husband because I have a celebrity crush...my list is quite short...and varies...and it's all about appreciating something you see in someone...whether it's based on real life or not. Looks aren't the tops on my list...it's sense of humor...and one on my list above is an intellectual comedian who might not be everyone's idea of what is hot.

I think my husband is hot because he kneels down by my daughter's bed at night and says her prayers with her. I think my husband is hot because he is 6'4 and towers over our girls, but he is a gentle giant. I think my husband is hot because he laughs at my stupid jokes. I think my husband is hot because we have been married 14 years, together for 20 and he still loves me. I think my husband is hot because he is playing restaurant with my girls while I hide out in here talking about what's hot!

OK, I read this post by Jazzman and then I responded with a post of my own and ended it by describing a few things I think are hot about my husband (In hot pink).

And in doing do, it put a smile on my face.

So I thought we should all take the time to write down what we think is hot about our spouse, significant other, boy friend/girl friend, etc. Since we spend so much time obsessing about the celebrity, let's give our sig others a chance to shine as well.

This shouldn't be too hard...(TWSS).

My boyfriend is hot because he loves me for who I am. He shows me total respect and loyalty. He's about 6 feet and when he hugs me, I feel like I'm in the safest place on earth. He sometimes lets his hair grow a little long and it starts to 'flip' slightly and it goes just past his eyebrows in the front, and to me that's really hot. He's a cuddler. When I'm feeling down, he'll do anything he can to cheer me up. He always listens to me. He told me that when we marry and have children, he'd love to have little girls. He's not only attractive to me physically, but has an incredibly kind heart and a gentle soul. He'll go with me to see cheesy movies, and doesn't mind when I want to shop for clothes while we're out. He has a great sense of humor. wub.gif

Even though I'll be on here and "gush" about John Krasinski/Jim Halpert, it doesn't come close to how I feel about my boyfriend. The John/Jim comments are based solely on me appreciating the talent of good writers and a cute actor that can pull off the lines. My boyfriend however, is hot to me because I know what kind of person he is and I love him deeply because of that.
verygood
What makes my husband hot is that he has no idea. He's neither cocky or self-conscious whatsoever about his appearance. He has amazing cheekbones and a fantastic nose. He's lean and toned. He has a huge smile and he's not afraid to use it. He's mischevious and smart and he knows where the line is. And I know I'm walking into a lot of "TWSS"s, but I mean this in a purely nonsexual kind of way: his hands are big. I love watching him handle small things (there I go again) like tying his shoelaces or brushing his teeth. It's incredibly masculine in a surprising kind of way. And when we hold hands it looks like Ariel and Eric at the end of the Little Mermaid.

Verygood, I know what you mean about big hands...my husband is a big man (6'4) and his hands are huge...and they even look bigger when he's holding our three year old's hand.

Oh thanks! I get a feeling sometimes that a lot of the women on the board are very much like me. It's funny how we all seem to have the same taste and sense of humor and even find the same kind of men attractive. It's nice that we are able to identify like that!

And something that I forgot to mention earlier, the most important thing about a guy, no matter what he looks like, is that he's easy going and fun to be around. I've seen a lot of "Jims" with a lot of "Pams" who weren't able to make things work because they didn't know how to pick their battles and allowed their egos to get in the way. My husband and I have been together over a third of our lives and when people ask what's important to us, when it comes to being with eachother every day it's not about how attractive or exciting the other is, it's about knowing that no matter what happens today, they will be there tomorrow.

Yes, egos can get in the way and cause a multitude of problems. I say leave your ego at the door and come on in!!

Thanks for responding to my thread! It doesn't look like it will be too popular, but I think it's always nice to stop and think about what makes our lives great and to give props to the one who makes it that way!

Here's another what makes my husband hot...him brushing my girls' hair with his big ole hands! He is my middle daughter's favorite hair brusher!!

Great thread, sed! I love reading about everyone else's special someones.

Where to start with my hubby.

My husband is hot because he respects me. He would never do anything to hurt me and his family always come first.

My husband is hot because he's six feet tall and has a smile that melts my heart. He also has...chesthair! (You people in the Jam Therapy thread know how I feel about chesthair). He doesn't have too much, but just enough that makes him very manly.

My husband is hot because he makes me laugh until I cry and I can do the same to him.

My husband is hot because he loves our children and even when we go out on a date, he gushes about how great they are.

My husband is hot because he can fix things and he makes things out of wood.

My husband is hot because he is teaching my son how to treat women and will help my daughter find a good mate, because hopefully she will find someone like him one day.

Finally, my husband is hot because he tollerates my JK and The Office love and is coming with me to the Office convention.

What a guy!

*Edit* I forgot to add his amazing hazel eyes, incredible eyelashes and his maple leaf tatoo. He is a proud Canadian and that makes him hot in my eyes!

Reasons my husband is hot:

1. Beautiful brown eyes
2. Deep, sexy voice
3. His butt looks great in jeans, shorts, boxers, or nothing!
4. Chest hair, lots
5. Long, dark eyelashes
6. He makes me laugh constantly
7. He's my best friend
8. He's committed to me, my family and God
9. He's not afraid to show affection to our 3 boys, even in public
10. He's an amazing dad who makes breakfast for our boys every day, and gets lunch ready for our oldest.
11. He does bedtime stories and prayers nearly every night
12. He has an amazing business sense
13. He makes me CDs of love songs to tell me how he feels about me
14. The way he says "Honey" to me
15. His man smell
16. He sings to me when we slow dance
17. He really cares about my happiness, one of his mottos is "A happy wife means a happy life"
18. He cried when our babies were born.

I could go on and on, but I am sure nobody cares as much as I do about what makes him hot.

I highlighted the things that are the same about my Canadian hottie!

My hubby literally made me laugh and cry on and off for 3 or 4 days when we were in Jamaica about 10 years ago on vacation. He just had to say the punchline and I would laugh until I cried. But the best part was when he said that he was so happy that he could still make me laugh like that after 5 years of being married. We had had a rough year leading up to that trip and it was great to reconnect and that's when he knew he still had me crazy about him.

Boss_of_Dancing
My husband is hot to me because he is what I consider a "real man"....that is, he is very masculine without having a need to prove it to anyone, he never acts macho or cocky.

He's hot because he can fix anything, and would never have to pay another man to do a job around the house. Tool belts are pretty hot. *g*

He's hot because he is a wonderful father to our daughter.

He has a bald head, which, I know is not hot to everyone, but it is to me.

He's long and lean with a hot working man's build. I think muscles made from labor are hotter than muscles built at a gym.

In ten years together he has never sworn at me or raised his voice to me. We've actually never had a single fight. Easy-going, even tempered guys are hot.

For those gals still single, this thread should make you hopeful. There are good guys out there. Just don't settle for the jerks, even if they are physically hot. Go for the good guys....when you really love someone who's good to you, they tend to get hotter and hotter in your eyes no matter what they look like.

That's a great idea! We should all remind our men how hot they are to us, and how they are still tops on our list, JK or not. It was funny when I started my list I figured to put 10 things down but once I started thinking about him I kept remembering so many reasons he's special to me.

I agree with another post of yours too sedimentary, when I worked outside the home before the babies arrived, the women often complained about their husbands and talked about how great other men were, and it really influenced my thinking back then as a new wife, I think that focusing too much on the negative makes it harder to see the positive, in anyone not just the spouse.

I would almost be really embarressed talking about all the ways I think my husband is hot because he is (physically) the most attractive man I have ever seen up close. I remember when we first met, I was just . . . um, amazed . . . because I had never been attracted to a man for his looks like that before. It was crazy. Then we started dating, and it only took a couple of dates for me to know I wanted to marry him. In a nutshell, very tall, dark, broad shouldered, deep brown eyes, great smile, thick dark hair. He's yummy. I joke all the time that I married him so we would have beautiful children. All of our friends are very aware of how hot I think he is. (And, get ready for this JK-lovers -- He's totally hotter than JohnK!) I would post a pic but I dont want yall lusting after my man.

Ok, here's some "other" reasons:

1. He works hard to allow me to stay home with our daughters.
2. He treats his baby girls with gentleness and devotion.
3. He makes me laugh like nobody's business.
4. He is very servant-hearted and giving.
5. He smells fantastic.
6. He lets me sleep in the little nook of his chest and shoulder even though I am sure its not that comfortable for him.
7. I hear him tell my daughter to say sweet things to me when I am having a bad day.
8. He loves me, and that is amazing in and of itself.

My wife's super motivated work ethic makes her hot. There are lots of physically attractive women, it's the personality that makes the difference. My wife has an excellent personality.

That is so positively awesome! I bet you could set up your kitchen table with some candlelight...provided there are no little ones to blow out the candles (like at my house) and then you'd already have your camera...and I'll bet she'll look even better if you tell her what makes her hot to you!!

That was really nice of you to reply...

Herecomestrouble...your husband sounds incredible...and I am glad you appreciate the things he does to make your life wonderful!! I am happy to hear that he is good to your girls (how many do you have? I have three daughters...)...a man who is good to his girls is definately a keeper!! And he's a looker too...OK, we're waiting for the picture!! tongue.gif

The first thing that got me was my husband's blond hair and blue eyes...incredibly blue, beautiful eyes!! And now I have three girls who have his exact eyes and it is awesome!! Especially since I have dark hair and hazel eyes...

Very nice...and since I know he is a great dad, that's double!! My girls are 8, 5 and 3...so your two are about the same age difference as my two youngest...they get along great!!! It's a nice age difference...once your little one is walking, they'll be best buds, I'm sure! Thanks for posting a picture of what might be your husband on your profile! laugh.gif

That is perfectly alright. That's what I said when I *saw* him for the first time as well.

My husband can barbecue a chicken breast perfectly...not too done, nice and juicy.

The other day on the phone he said he wants to fight for me- you know like never give up on us, etc. And this was just because he felt like it, not because of a fight or anything. It was amazing.

So he is patient as evidenced by the perfectly BBQ'd chicken...and he is willing to fight for what he wants!!! Nice!!!!

My husband is the most patient person I have ever met. He has lived with me through some bouts of depression and has seen the kids go through some pretty rough stuff when they were teenagers, and he always kept at us to do the right thing and eventually everything would be ok. It always was. I don't know how he got to be so smart.
What's also cool about him is that he is humble. He had a great career in the Marine Corps and was very much admired by the young troops. He was a father figure to lots of young Marines, and I didn't realize how many looked up to him until his retirement ceremony last June. They came from all over to shake his hand and thank him. I was overwhelmed. A couple of Marines told me about things he did for them while they were in Iraq...for example, arranging phone calls home and getting birthday cakes for guys and having DVDs sent over for the troops to watch. He was able to delay one Marine's deployment until after his baby was born. Pretty cool. Not to mention, he looked pretty handsome in his uniform.
I was afraid he'd miss the Corps when he retired, but he seems fine. He's more relaxed and he's having fun. We're having fun!

God bless your husband! Please give him a hug for me and give one to yourself as well. Us "civilians" just don't know how lucky we are to have people like your family who are willing to sacrifice so much! I am honored that you responded to my question. And I truly thank your husband for his service and you for the sacrifices I am sure you and your kids made! Isn't it nice to see that he has touched so many lives...and didn't have to brag about it! Bravo!

HCT, he's adorable!! And forget James Bond, I am a sucker for the English Tie. A hot man with great fashion sense, no wonder you're head over heels!
Fancy_New_Becca
bare with the lovey dovey talk for a second. What I find hot besides the accent as most know, is that he's so funny. He makes me laugh, even when he drives me crazy. He thinks the dumb things I say are funny and is always amazed about something I say or do. And he adores all the odd things I can do. Trust me when I told him I could make a muppet, I couldn't live that one down for months, but he actually took a interest in all my little strange things I do. And it has nothing to do with the fact that he's played soccer all his life and was a ex-fire man and has a body that better than beckham.*blushes big time* 2 and a half years later I still turn red when he walks around with no shirt. And lastly he's a great dad, and I couldn't ask for anything better than a real hands on dad type for more kiddies later. Okay you may all now go throw up. hahaha
