Let me know what you think.

Ps. You are going to have to turn up the volume on your computer a bit. For some reason, it sounds really quiet.

Roy! You have a nice voice for podcasting. It's deeper than I thought it would be. (TWSS). tongue.gif

By the way, I've suspected since "The Job" that Dwight and Angela had watched "Rome" on HBO, and that's how they had a common reference to darker side of Roman political maneuvering. . . . Could just me my bias right OH? wink.gif

Hmmm, Roy talking softly - do you carry a big stick?

I immediately thought of us ROME fans, Mixed!

Roy, I will listen in a little while when everyone is down for good. And I have my fan on now and its hard to listen since I tried and had to put the volume up ALL the way to attempt to hear it. Sounds good so far

Im loading a louder one for you whiners. But it will be 15 minutes and the quality isnt as good because it hits the dB limiter more often.
buymeacoke_1
Your voice sounds nice...like you need your own show on NPR or something.
Enjoyable, Roy. Thanks for doing this. Well done.
whichonespam
Hey Roy - enjoyed the podcast. Once you get some of the technical glitches worked out it will be easier to appreciate the content.

I found your take on the Jim and Kevin interactions in TJ interesting. I think Jim really likes Kevin and he humours him as oppossed to making fun of him. Two other examples of this I can think of from S3 are The Negotiation (Kevin has Jims back) and Safety Training (Jim helps Kevin satisfy his need to wager). I've always thought that Kevin was the only person other than Pam, Jim would choose to spend time with outside of work.
Roy_Anderson
Ok, i uploaded a louder version. Have at it. Let me know what you think.
CountChocula
Nice Roy, enjoying it! Whoever said it before, I agree, you have a good voice...being lulled to sleep here. sleep.gif
queenofengland
Roy, thank you so much for uploading that louder one. It really made a big difference, and I didn't find the quality to be a problem at all.

A couple things I really liked:

I loved that you talked about the Angela/Kelly conflict, and even put Angela's comment ("goodbye Kelly Kapoor") in perspective. I feel like a lot of times small things like that get lost amongst the bigger story-lines. So it was awesome to hear a quick summary of their history (epsecially concerning Dwight) going all the way back to season 1.

I really agreed with you about missing the feeling that the camera's presence had an effect the actions of the characters. One of my all-time favorite scenes is in Hot Girl when the camera catches Pam putting on lip gloss, and then she goes to hide it. Without dialogue that scene told you so much about her insecurities, and I wish they would bring that feeling back again.

I also loved that you brought up the CFO's comment about Kendall, his HR guy. I think that kind of got lost in Jim's discovery of the note from Pam. His lines about Kendall were hysterical though; I love the idea that he has more in common with Michael than he'd probably like to think.

Anyways, great job. I really enjoyed it (and not just because you have a very nice voice. Which you do. Very nice.)

I dont know if a good voice should put you to sleep.

They should pre-load you reading the phone book on those white noise machines from Sharper Image.

Once again, not a good thing. I am not going for the Ben Stein niche.

There's a guy on our local public radio station that sounds just like you

I haven't listened yet because I'm planning on going to bed in 8 minutes, but I promise to listen to the Roycast tomorrow.
mixedberries_1
Is it my imagination or is there a very small touch of a midwestern accent in there Roy?

I also was interested by your Angela/Kelly take. I think Angela is still fuming from her customer service experience in "Product Recall". rolleyes.gif

And Andy, absolutely the best addition to the show. Thank god TPTB chose to keep him. His comic potential is awesome.
Roy_Anderson
Midwest accent? I have no idea. I have lived in Phoenix all my life. Although, my dad is from Chicago and my mom is from Indiana, so maybe. I dont hear it though. I never thought i had an accent.

I wouldn't say you have an accent. Just a little something that's not totally Western.. . . something about how you round out some of your words.
SharpSchruter23
Mixed, I got that too.

I bet it's cause Roy's dad is from Chicago....the whole "you know" thing. smile.gif But maybe I'm wrong.

Ick. Ben Stein is annoying enough to make anyone take the bridge. Roy doesn't sound anything like him. I'll listen to the rest tomorrow though.
Roy_Anderson
What is the whole 'you know' thing?
Roy_Anderson
CRAP!!!! I do say 'you know' alot. Shiite. That is another one of my stupid manerisms that i now have to overanalyze. Just like whenever im talking on the phone to a girl (i only notice this because that is the only time i acutally have conversations over the phone) whenever there is silence, i have to fill it with 'i dont know'. Damnnit!

I like to think I don't, but if I'm inebriated and excited, I start to sound like Elwood Blues.

Okay, that's not completely true.

That sucks. I didnt know i did that. I said the words 'you know' out of context 88 times in that podcast. That is once every 14.125 seconds. sad.gif

Really? That many times? I didn't notice.
I once had an evaluator come observe me during my student teaching. She kept a little tally in the corner of the page. . . . I said "ok" 44 times in 50 minutes. rolleyes.gif
Roy_Anderson
Well, mine was 88 times in 20:43.

Great job on this Roy! I'm about halfway through (it's buffering which gives me time to type this).

Very enjoyable podcast.

I listened to it around 11:30 last night, right before I went to bed. You voice is so relaxing to me, I like your voice so it was a compliment. Keep 'em coming! smile.gif

Just finished. It was good, insightful and quite soothing. Can I download that to iTunes?? smile.gif

A couple of thoughts that I had, which I didn't write down so I may have multiple posts today...

1. My brother-in-law just sold their house for less than they bought it and they were thrilled. They obviously know nothing about the housing market. They thought it was like a selling a car. So Michael, to me, in that context was believeable. And the fact that he sold before he knew about his job...2 neighbors right now who did the EXACT same thing and they have no where to live...and I don't live in dumbville, if that's what you're thinking. They thought it would be hard to sell and it sold right away and so....

2. I thought Jim was doing Kevin a favor. That would be Kevin's favorite way to spend the day, either that or dunderball or porn. When he said, Kevin to Karen in NY, it was a joke because she knows he's Jim's favorite office guy. IMO.

3. Boards, a welcoming enviroment...when you're not here. That was funny. I laughed!

I liked having a voice to go with the Roy Anderson book of wisdom. Thanks for taking the time.
rocker creed
Nice points about messing with Kevin. I found that part odd as well.

My parents once had to sell a house for less than they paid for it, (but more than they still owed on it). The market had taken a dive, and they couldn't wait. They got to write the loss off on their taxes spread over 3 years. It sucked, but sometimes it happens. Strangely enough, despite living in California since 1980, they only ever made any money on real estate once, when they sold 2 years ago. They were always in the wrong place at the wrong time.
