I have a pretty deep voice. My last girlfriend said that was one of her attractions to me so I guess I've got that going for me. We'll see if it gets me anywhere else with the ladies since I haven't had a date in 4 months.

I've been told that I have a weird accent and I say certain words cute, like "no" and "I know". Yayyy me.

Me too. I don't believe I have an accent, but sometimes I sound a little bit northern...other times my midwestern roots show and I tend to draw out some words or turn them southern.

Thank you. smile.gif. That is true. I hate how some people must rely on their significant others to define who they are. One should develop a sense of identity without having to rely on a significant other.
But yeah, I LOVE accents! I especially love british, scottish and Australian accents. I would be giddy around a guy with an accent as well, which makes me nervous, and I turn into a klutz. Very embarrassing.

I've been particularly enjoying "Flight of the Conchords" with all the New Zealand accents. wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif

I love the show! The humor is so low-key sometimes. I love it. Both Jemaine and Bret are funny in such different ways. Fantastic songwriters too.

From today's Toronto Star:

Men, how low can you go?

Your voice, that is.

As you hear yourself answer that question, does the response come out Pee Wee Herman squeaky or Barry White baritone smooth?

Studies suggest the pitch of a man's voice could have an impact on his appeal to the opposite sex, with new research indicating women wanting to have children may favour a mate with huskier speech.

McMaster University professor David Feinberg and colleague Coren Apicella, an anthropology graduate student at Harvard, selected members of the Hadza of Tanzania as subjects for a study to be published in Biology Letters tomorrow. Men in the tribe were asked how many children they had had.

Apicella and Feinberg ran the recordings through a computer algorithm to detect voice pitch. "What we noticed was that men with lower-pitched voices tended to have more babies than men with higher-pitched voices did," said Feinberg.

It's more likely men with lower voices can find more women than their high-pitched counterparts, rather than the possibility that men with higher-pitched voices are having their children die at younger ages, the findings suggest.

Well, that explains it........ And all this time I thought it was my charm, wit and gracious good humour...

False. I once had to break up with a guy because I couldn't take his accent. He was from New Joisey.

Does that make me shallow?

Hmmm, well my voice isn't particularly deep. If anything I tend to have kind of a soft voice I think. I've also been told that I have a faint southern drawl. I guess if my voice sounded like a celebrity's it would remind you a little bit of one of the Wilson brothers.

I was just thinking about this. Bret is more attractive, but Jemaine has got the sexy-funny-guy thing going. In the opening credits for the show, I am much more drawn to watching Jemaine -- that little bounce he does at the beginning when they are walking, and the shoulder dance he does at the table. Very cute! wub.gif

I have to admit I was disappointed when I asked Mrs RC if she thought they were attractive and she said 'Yes, Bret is'. I would have bet money that she would have picked Jemaine.

Are they oblivious to Mel's advances or just ignoring it?

Definitely not oblivious. I think they are creeped out by Mel's advances. She's married! And her "situation" was not on the up and up from what I can tell. She's creepsville.

I'll admit that in the past, I would rush into a relationship just for the sake of having a boyfriend. Now I've been single for some time & the great thing is that I have four men, if not more who want me. Not only does it boost my confidence but it makes me thankful for not dating any guy. Now, I'm just laying out my options...

I can sympathize!! I always had to have a girlfriend or at least someone to date. I would go crazy without one and I'd go out and get one asap.

Of course, at that age, everyone would joke that I just wanted a girlfriend so I could 'get some'. But in reality I always liked the companionship of a women. I've always got along really well with women and I liked having one in my life.

Sharpie, I feel the same right now. That'll probably change again in a week, but for now I feel like I've been on my own long enough. I'm even starting to get worried that if I do find someone I wouldn't be able to function in a relationship, I'm so out of practice. For me, being single is easy but sometimes not all that satisfying.

I feel the same way. I have never really had a boyfriend and have only known the single life. I have dated a few times, but that is about it. I am kind of picky as well. I also would feel as though I wouldn't know how to handle a relationship should I ever get one. I have always had an independent spirit and have enjoyed the freedom of being single. However, it does get lonely sometimes and I wonder if I will be able to function in one or if I will ever even encounter such a relationship. I teeter between the enjoyment of only relying on myself and longing for the type of special companionship that comes with a good relationship. Sometimes I fear I will never get to experience that.

I tried to agree earlier and my post didn't work. Yeah, I'm tired of it. Not only am I tired of being single, I'm tired of feeling like there's no one in my circle of friends who I would even consider. That's very discouraging.

Oh yes. I forgot the board is still messed up. So I am quoting Queenie.

Queenie, If I were a guy...or if we were lesbians (*use of laughing emoticon) I would be chomping at the bit to go out with you.

Yeah, IDK what the deal is. Any guy should be more than happy to go out with me . (*wink emoticon)

I was grocery shopping today (and babysitting a 14 month old) when this hooooooot guy gave me the biggest flirtatious smile with hello....then he saw the kid. Da mn it. Too bad he didn't talk more, I could have explained she wasn't mine.

All day long I got, "OMG! Your daughter is soooo cute!" Eventually I just started to say Thank you.
