Um, guilty of this, too. I guess I better step it up. Although I do explain why I don't wear makeup as much (I have pretty sensitive skin and I try to not to cover it) and he seems to be okay with it. I guess seems is the operative word.

Well, they start making out first, and they think they are seeing fireworks because of who they are making out with. They don't realize everyone else can see the fireworks, too.

More than likely...it's all the coal. biggrin.gif Well, *my* experience with dating typically goes something like this...

-Phone call
-Meet up (wherever the location may be.)
-Drink and talk
-Drink and talk some more
-Go somewhere else, usually a place with some degree of privacy
-A cigarette in the mouth, a handshake and a goodbye

That's what I grew up with though. tongue.gif

So, my date was freakin' awesome. I picked her up and we drove to downtown St. Louis to go to the City Museum (this awesome place with tons of stuff to do), but when we got down there, we decided to go to the Arch. Well, it turns out they're still having Live on the Levi, a free concert series this July, and Los Lonely Boys were playing a free concert on the riverfront beneath the Arch. It was freakin' awesome. After the band played, they had an awesome fireworks display which lasted about ten minutes. After the fireworks, we walked up to Caleco's and got some food. As we ate our food, we talked about movies and what we liked and didn't like, and we pretty much had similar tastes. I was quite shocked. After dinner, we walked to Keener Plaza - a plaza in the heart of downtown with fountains and stairs. I can't begin to describe the beauty of downtown St. Louis on a clear Friday night to anyone who hasn't been there. The way Keener Plaza lines up with the old courthouse and the Arch is just absolutely beautiful. We stood and looked at the view for a few minutes and went for a walk. We walked over to Busch Stadium and she showed me the brick that her father had paid to have their names engraved on. It was really cool. After that, we walked back to my car and left downtown. On the ride back to her car, we talked about ghosts and aliens and things and it was really cool that we thought the same kind of things about it. We got to her car and we hugged and both said we had a really good time. Sorry, no kiss this time. Basically, it was an awesome night that went way better than I had expected. We held hands a lot throughout the night, and we even cuddled during the fireworks. We seemed to have a lot of things in common, and we are definitely going out again.

I never even had a bridal shower. My maid of honor sucked. My mom and grandma felt bad about it, so they said, "well, we can throw you a family bridal shower, or we'll buy you a vacuum and microwave." I didn't want a pity shower, so I took the appliances. sad.gif

Amen sistah! I've spent a fortune on my friends and acquaintances for their wedding and baby showers since college(13-14 years). By the time I get to have one everyone will be too old to care. I have often thought I'd just go register for some stuff and send out my own invitations and see what happens. Probably really tacky...but mellow.gif

Scotty....sounds like a great date. Good for you!! As soon as you decide where and when the second one will be, you must let us know. Yipppeeee!
vbarkley
^^^^I have thought of that myself. When I lived in my apartment, I thought it would be a great idea so my family would know what to get me for Christmas and birthdays.

For a long time I didn't want a shower because I hate attending them so much. But now I figure, for the amount of dough I've forked out on other people, I'm due. Plus, now most of my cousins have kids who are now having showers, so I can invite them, and so on, and so on, and so on.....

Has VB always been this funny and I never noticed??? This is the 3rd time in the past 2 days that I laughed hard at a VB post.

I always considered VB one of the 'sweet' ones here. Always kind and compassionate with a nice word for everyone.

Now my labeling system is totally blown!!! I had neat labels for each of the ladies here - sweet, smart, firecracker, funny, compassionate.

Now my system is totally off!

I'm with you guys on this one. There's an episode of Sex and the City that talks about this. Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) goes to a baby shower and the parents ask her to take her shoes off before entering the house, so she does, but they end up getting stolen. Her friend refuses to pay her for them because they cost $400. So she goes back and adds up all the money she's spent on her friend ... wedding gifts, wedding showers, baby showers, etc., and sends her friend an "I'm NOT having a baby shower" invitation, and notes that she's registered at Manolo Blahnik's (for men out there, it's a shoe brand).

laugh.gif I love that episode! It's so true! When do the singles get a party to celebrate our singledom?

As soon as marriage stops being the "in" thing to do. So...once the moral majority can be convinced otherwise wink.gif
Fancy_New_Becca
A friend of mine is hinting that she is getting married again soon to her boyfriend. I refer to him as "the big faced mother" She's one of my best friends but I don't believe their relationship will last. I just wanted to make sure it's okay to send a cheap gift. Thanks wedd for making me feel better about it

Yes sharla I used some interesting words. wink.gif

My brother told me his daugther who is getting married next month can't fit into her dress cause she's gotten altered smaller than her normal size..crash diet. I know many women do that, but kill yourself like that?

I don't miss being single as well because if I was who would I whine to about my problems? Boyfriends and fiances have to take it. smile.gif
Fancy_New_Becca
O-H are we testing the life of a single woman?? Have you thrown something else now at the hubby?
Fancy_New_Becca
okay. I'll buy that.

I mentioned to the brit that if wanted to be single he could be...easily. He said nope. He told me no matter what happens I'm stuck with him and thats how it's going to be.
I could either take that as we'll always be together, thick or thin. We love each enough to work through any problem or he's going to follow me and stalk me and secretly tape me and be very scary. I should get him to clarify that.

Definitely! I even had a friend who got married for the second time - in the same church, wearing the same dress! It was so awful - at least she had different bridesmaids. She got a cheap gift both times. Plus, I was just out of college and still poor then, so I had an excuse.
Fancy_New_Becca
okay I find it alittle much to wear a wedding dress when you've been married more than once. And never wear the same dress.

UGH someone just asked me when are you marrying nick? If I knew that I wouldn't be upset by that question!
vbarkley
I knew this girl who wore her wedding dress to our formal office Christmas party, because she "only wore it once and not everyone got to see it." And that was her second wedding. She divorced her first husband to marry the pool boy. Then she kept complaining about how she had no money.
