I believe Piers should take his own advice - your criticism is not for children.

If Piers is reprensenative of the British people, please put him and all the other Brits on a plane back to there homeland. America has had enough of the dry ripping cuts and tear downs they dishout. Our country is about diversity and building each other up. Sharon and David have shown that you can be total honest and not rip a persons diginity from them. Piers seems to be enjoying this way too much.

Someone please fire him now!

I've for the same question, why is he a judge???
I agree with you 100%, FIRE HIM!!!

In fact I just watched a great act, everyone aplauded, David and Sharon both liked it and that stuck up snob Piers buzzed it. Makes me sick, I wish my wife would let me turn the channel!!

Piers is friends with Simon, so I think we're stuck with him.

Piers is a jerk (other words describe him much better but I am sure they would be edited) He does nothing but insult people who actually have talent (unlike him.) Who is he anyways? An author, a newspaper editor (or whatever.) Who is he to judge these people who sing, dance, etc, etc. Looks to me like NBC wasnt able to find somebody with enough talent to judge these people.

Frankly, I cant wait until the day Piers is punched in the face by somebody. I would love to be the one who does it.

You have said it well. Piers needs to go back to wherever he came from and continue writing - not dealing so unkindly with OUR American families and children. If he wants an adult competition, then they should not allow children to be on the show at all! Piers doesn't even give people a chance - he X's before they barely start. I SAY FIRE HIM and get someone who judges fairly!

I like the idea of the show, but Piers hurting children is NOT okay.

After I heard him say that the dogs who weren't talented "should be returned to the pound" I envisioned him being beat up like someone else on here mentioned.

At least Simon hurts the feelings of adults who can take it. Imagine being crushed & humiliated on national tv when you're 9 years old. mad.gif

Piers will continue to serve as a judge on America's Got Talent until Simon can find an American with enough balls to be a real judge. As Piers said countless times during the last show, "this is a million dollar competition." David and Sharon apparently think of a million dollars as small change, because they have absolutely no problem giving a free pass to every act that's ho-hum at best.

When you think of the previous groups from Season 1 (Bianca Ryan, All That, The Millers, Realis, At Last, etc.), how many of the acts put through tonight really compare? As long as David and Sharon are going to sugarcoat everything, Piers is going to have to stick around and keep things honest for the rest of us.
psuluv
I couldn't believe the comments Piers made about sending the dogs back to the pound... That was uncalled for. It's OK to have a difference of opinion, but not at the expense of the well being of an animal or person.

Pier's comment toward that one girls mom, putting her on trial for her daughter wanting to perform, was horrible, honestly just todays show, has made my family not want to watch another minute of it, i agree with all but piers trys to be a wannabe simon even if hes friends, so lame, really should take his own advice and kick himself in the ***! biggrin.gif

I don't think anyone likes him. Honestly, the whole time I was watching it, I was yellling at my tv.

Piers needs to go. He was way out of line with that 9 year old girl. What qualifies him as a judge.

You're right, you can't sugar coat everything and you also can't just vote yes to everyone. But he does not have to talk to people the way he does. There is a thing called "tact", and he has none.

FIRE HIM!!!
joe_dawg_9
I'll start by saying that normally (about 90% of the time), I can agree with Piers' criticisms (the good and the bad). However, the comment that he made towards that 9-year-old cheerleader about the parents always pushing the kids, that's just hitting below the belt. Granted, she wasn't ready for this kind of competition, but that comment was completely uncalled for.
Now for all of those that are calling to sack him, you're overreacting. Most of the time, he is a fair and honest judge (which is what this show needs). Yes, some of his comments are ridiculous, but some of those acts need serious reality checks.
azpete42
NBC, save yourself. Piers S*U*C*K*S really bad, as a judge and as a human being. He is dragging down the show, and I for one, won't be wasting my tiem watching this, or most other shows on NBC until you people come up with something good.
TheQuadmom
Thumbs up to that little girl for speaking so well under pressure. She was not well suited for this show but when faced with a difficult situaiton she stood her ground and knew exactly what to say and held her head high. I was very proud of her for that.
Homeless_joe
Whatever they paid Piers to be a judge was a waste. He just seems to like to hurt people. Only one group or person can win, the other 99% won't make it, but crushing people in front of the country is uncalled for. I won't be watching this season.

I was about to shut off the TV after hearing enough child abuse to last me for as long as the show will be airing. Then Sharon took her stand and put a stop to it. Good for her!!

I have to give it up for Sharon for stopping the child abuse that had been going on since the first act. Piers says he has children and I wonder what he would say if they were spoken to as he spoke to the children that performed. I am sure he wouldn't sit back and say, "Well, they were just telling the truth". For some reason, "Get me a phone so I can call my lawyer" seems more like it. The first child he disliked for being a bad imatation of someone else ... sounds like he was talking about himself.

When Sharon walked away he followed ... why??? He had nothing of interest to say to her or the cameras ... wait, ahhhhhh, the cameras. Did he fear that she would state the obvious and say that he was a child abuser??? Did he want to get into an arguement with her to show how pitiful she was for not enabling him any further? THEN, when informed that the child was still on the stage, he had no caring about how she must be feeling. Sharon, upon learning that the child was still there, did not hesitate but went to put an end to the child's discomforture.

Will I continue to watch this?? The answer is ... not if he will be permitted to continue with his abuse of the children who perform for him.

Piers, I wonder if you did or would give your Mom a new car and a million dollars. If this is how you acted while growing up, she deserves a heck of alot more!!

What a turd! I fully intend to report the behavior I saw on this show to child protective services. Piers Morgan should not be allowed to have any contact with children. I have never boycotted anything before, but the actions of this horrific human being have compelled me to cut this show and NBC from my families tv schedule. I will not watch another minute of that crap until that man is properly booted from the show and a public apology is made by those in power at NBC.

I was appalled at his behavior and just as my wife and I were ready to turn off the show for good, Sharon walked off the set. I was cheering for Sharon but unfortunately it was clear when Piers and Sharon came back that Piers had no change of heart and offered no real apology. What a jerk! Click... Silence... No More NBC
Scarlett_eyes
I have just one thing to say about Piers....he's NOT an American. It disgusts me to watch someone like him (who is apparently talentless) pretend to be somebody with the authority to pass judgement on anyone else. It is more than obvious that his level(s) of success are limited in his own country, otherwise he wouldn't be so determined to stay in another country where he isn't wanted or appreciated.

I found that everything he said was full of cruelty and arrogance. There was nothing constructive about any of his "advice". He's too pompus to be a judge. Unless someone comes on attempting to "write the next great novel", they are destined to fail according to his standards. They'll probably fail then too especially if Piers feels a bit challanged.

Either way, he should be FIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's "America's Got Talent" NOT "Brits Bash Americans".

Exactly! That is why after he did it to the third child for the night (that they showed, I am sure there were more) I quit watching and probably won't watch again after that. I was looking forward to the show, but not now. Very disappointed in him.
amandarae
I was disturbed by the behavior of Piers toward two of the little girls who sang last night. His criticisms were beyond constructive, they were down right mean. These children come to this show aspiring to sing and do the best that they can. I hardly think that the deplorable comments Piers made to them, with a national audience viewing, should be acceptable to NBC. How insecure and embarrased they must have felt. A feeling that should not have been inflicted on children by some big bully adult. I hurt for them especially the little girl who was crying back stage. Even if it isn't done publicly I feel that Piers owes them an apology for the meanness. Hopefully this experience will not deter them from any of their future aspirations. I would hope NBC would have a closed door meeting with Piers and give him a lesson on how to give constructive criticism to a child or replace him.
Miracle_Yorkies
This may be very true, but it is a TV show. We are the audience, and whether the act is good or not, we deserve to see at least some of it. What irks me the most is when he just LOOKS at someone and buzzes them. It is absolutely ridiculous... no.... it is absurd and unfair and RUDE. I can understand his tactics and his wanting to be honest, and they do need a judge who is harsh, it does keep a well rounded panel, but he needs to let up a little or they will end up losing their audience, the home viewers.

I BLAME SIMON!

Many of the acts were not that great but the show's producers choose who will perform. They have plenty to choose from but they know part of people's interest in the show is seeing Piers be mean - kind of like people watching car races for the crashes! So Simon is the one throwing these mediocre acts to the wolf (Piers). However, last night Piers went WAY over board. Buzzing people way too soon and his comments - you'd think he had PMS. After reading the comments here, I may be ready to turn the channel - it wasn't that great of a show to begin with, I can't let my kids watch it because of the occasional "Snow White turns striptease" and the considerable abuse of the acts is unacceptable. Maybe Sharon Osborne will stand her ground during this week and make them either use better acts or clean up Piers' act.

I 100% agree with you people shoudl start to complain the the NBC network to get him kicked oof the only reason i watch the show is for the talent not the the jugdes meaning PIERS. or just try to make alot of people not to watch the show so there ratings will go down. I feel that something needs to done about piers I understand that their are alot of acts that need to be gone but not thw way that piers handles it.
RedWings1_97_98
I have been looking forward to the premier of the new season of “America’s Got Talent”; however, after watching last night’s episode, I’m not sure if I want to watch any more.

Piers Morgan has NO tact! As an acclaimed editor for major newspapers in Britain, I can not believe the lack of empathy and tact that he showed last night. I realize that he has an important job to do by weaning out the undesirables, but he does not have to be so callous about telling these hopefuls “No”. Attacking little kids for coming out and trying their best, and calling others “fat” is totally uncalled for. Granted most of the people that tried out did not have million dollar acts, but come-on.

Maybe Mr. Morgan needs to take a little empathy classes from Sharon and David. They have the ability to tell people “No thanks” without sounding like an arrogant jerk. Sounds to me like he is trying to be another Simon Cowell.

I couldn't agree with you more. I was apalled by the way Piers spoke to the children. I find him obnoxious and extremely rude. It is a pity that a woman of Sharon O's character who, has delt with all that she has delt with through out her married life walks out on you. I respect her and feel that she was right in walking out, Piers was extremely inappropriate. This morning I have seen several websites that link this airing with the little blonde 9 year old and the Texas Child Abuse Authorities....
I do hope that many make complaints on the website. The little girl deserves some one to protect her...And NBC? You suck for hiring Piers.

I have never gone to the trouble to blog any show in the past either. Frankly, I don't ever feel it's necessary. HOWEVER, I was hoping this would be a entertaining show, and looked forward to seeing it.. After watching the disgusting behavior of Piers morgan, I felt it absolutely necessary to give NBC a reality check on how badly he has affected my opinion, and many others, on ever viewing this show again... I watch American Idol, and it's not for the faint of heart when Simon gets going, however, he's addressing adults, and has mellowed substantially this past season. This creepy guy is deplorable, and I'm done with this show because of Piers. He literally makes me sick! Who does he think he is?????

AGREE! Does Piers think before he opens his mouth? His advice to send the dogs back to the pound left me speechless. And this monster has children of his own. I only can imagine what lessons and examples he sets for them.

As for the man with dogs – BRAVO! People like you inspire America for kindness and creativity!
chefcyric
Only thing that I can say about Piers is that he's probably either told to be more mean to everyone. Or he knows how Simon can get on peoples nerves and is just trying to act on that. There are people out there that love to watch judges be really mean to people and they know that sells, so there will always almost be at least 1 judge on shows that try and do that.
ravynfury
I agree... he should be gone. I was brought to the brink of tears last night. He was brutely cruel to the children. Not just one of them! He was awful quick to hit his "X" which is fine. I guess you have to be a good looking woman to get anything postive from the man!!! I mean he was darn near drolling in his seat!!!

I think he is trying to be another "Simon" and he just cant pull it off. I am horrified and if I were a Brit, I'd be extremely horrified to have someone like him representing my nationality.

I think I am going to write a letter to NBC reguarding him. I am sure they will be recieving lots of mail on the topic and mine will be added. The man needs to take a good, hard, long look at how his comments can damage those children's frail egos. They may not have been ready for the show, and heck, perhaps one or two of them did not have alot of talent, but how dare he attack their self esteme in that matter.

He's a bully and was probably a bully in the school yard. Someone should have kicked his a$% long ago!

Just my two cents...

The kids that perform their "talent" on stage are too pathetic to accept the fact that their talent is not worth one million. They cry when they are criticized and it is not fault of the judges. Many people in this forum complain that Piers is too tough as a judge. Well, sorry to break it to you, but that is his job - judging whether the talent is worth one million. He criticizes so the performers can improve their talent for the future. Judges such as Hasselhoff seem to judge based on emotion rather than talent. This is not what judging is. If the kids performing can't handle being criticized, don't perform at all!

Initially, I watched this show to see Sharon Osborne (love her). However, OMG, that pompous ******* piers is a disgrace! NBC, why would you allow this man on American TV. He is not likeable, he has zero talent, who in the **** is he anyway? He's an embarrassment to the people of England. Aren't there enough people in America who can take his place. I won't EVER watch this show again as long as he is on. Totally disgusting, I guess he thinks his English accent will subsitute of his lack of anything. He's sickening. NBC, you've sunk to the bottom of the barrel with this prat!

No offense, but when people say stuff like this, that they won't be watching the show ever again because Piers was brutally honest, two things come to mind.

1) "Good!"
2) "Bull****!"

#1 because the whiny "family concerned" viewers are the people that ignored talent and put Celtic Spring and David & Dania through to the finals because they cried. The fewer of you whiny *****es watch the show, the fewer lame and goyish acts will make it to the finale.

#2 because last season, I watched you idiots threaten never to watch again all the way up until the finale. You and I both know you'll be ****ing and moaning about Piers all over again next week.

As an American tax payer and big fan of your show, I was so outragged last night with what went on with Piers Morgan that I am thinking of not eveing watching the rest of season. I'm sure NBC understands. Mr. Piers Morgan needs to GO! What went on the opening night of season two was so wrong. HELLO?????? I'm I the only one that sees this?

The producers of this show are getting exactly what they are after. I'll bet they're reading these boards and laughing it up. There is no way that they are going to get rid of Piers. Without him there would be no show. Look at how everyone is so upset about him on these boards. People threaten to boycott or not watch the show, but you know they will be watching.

This show isn't about talent, people. If it was really about talent, all those lame a** acts wouldn't have made it onto the show at all. It's about ratings! Piers is just the guy to bring NBC the ratings they so crave. This is just another Jerry Springer show, only in prime time! I was only surprised we didn't see the producer hand the little girls' mother a chair to throw at Piers, in true "Jerry Springer" fashion.

I will do the same thing I did last year. I watched the first show and did not watch any of the rest. I did not know who even won.

Many will cry because they have invested a great deal of time and energy into preparation and performing. Once finished ,it is a very emotional release either through crying or simply knowing the stress of performance is over. Many a football player that lost the big game have cried, and they don't win by crying.
