NBC better do something real quick about Piers because they are losing viewers because of his misconduct. He does not give most of the acts a chance before he x'd them. He does not know how to give constructive critisism - he is not tactful - he is not beneficial to the show. mad.gif People that like the show and the performances are going to stop watching the show because he is cruel and rude. sad01.gif I hope NBC doesn't think that the viewers will tune in to see the stupid things that Piers will say on the show. Instead, people are going to watch other channels. There were several performers that didn't even get to begin their act before he x'd them. I also think that he should publicly on the show apologize for being such a jerk. blush.gif If he continues to be on the show, and continues to be so rude, I, for one, and lots of other people that I show, will NOT be watching this show any longer.

Must disagree with the opening poster on this subject. Pierse (or however he spells his name) may be a little quick to jump in with his Xs, but he is usually correct.

You've got to keep this kind of show moving along. There is such a huge array of ages and acts (some good and many horrible). American Idol is criticized as they show too many of the poor auditions! America's got talent could be even worse if all the acts were shown in full.

Let's get real and right to the point. This is a search for talent -- not kids getting up and performing a little dance routine or singing in front of their 3rd grade class!

Pierse may be annoying to some but that's the nature of the Show. Those too sensitive to this kind of thing perhaps should tune out early in the season. It's not your kind of entertainment!

I, for one, feel he is doing a good job.

The kids that perform their "talent" on stage are too pathetic to accept the fact that their talent is not worth one million. They cry when they are criticized and it is not fault of the judges. Many people in this forum complain that Piers is too tough as a judge. Well, sorry to break it to you, but that is his job - judging whether the talent is worth one million. He criticizes so the performers can improve their talent for the future. Judges such as Hasselhoff seem to judge based on emotion rather than talent. This is not what judging is. If the kids performing can't handle being criticized, don't perform at all!

I bage to differ.

NBC is going to lose a lot of viewers because of Piers Morgan. He is rude, and should not attack children and families. I turned it off, and refuse to watch this show now, because the way in which Piers responded was completely unacceptable. It doesn't matter if someone isn't good enough for the show, especially if they are a child, he doesn't have to tear them apart. Of course, everyone who goes on the show should be able to take some criticism; but any civilized human being would know how to gear that criticism towards each individual. And that family comment? Come on now. That is what America is about; families.

I have to agree with this comment. I think that Piers is just trying to be another Simon, which we don't need on TV. I understand that as Executive Producer, Simon most likely had a hand in choosing Piers, but we don't need another Simon. If I wanted to watch Simon, I'd watch American Idol, which I don't. I agree that many of the people that he "X'd" needed to be, but personally, I could do without the insults. Comments are expected, insults are not. Piers is doing his job as a judge, but adding insult to injury is not necessary. Some of these people are going on the show to get their 30 seconds of fame and that's it. But some of these people believe that they have real talent and are putting themselves out there to take a chance. It's not necessary to tear a person down to make a point. It's hard enough just being rejected, let alone to have someone humiliate you, especially on TV. I'm not watching the show to hear the judges insult these people and I'm certainly not entertained by it. I'm watching to see what talents they may (or may not have). If this is the direction that the show is going, I'm not watching.

AS A PERFORMER AND A CONTESTANT ON THE SHOW I DISAGREE WITH ALOT OF THE COMMENTS.. ALTHOUGH PIERS MAY SEEM TO BE RUDE THIS IS A CUT THROAT INDUSTRY.. ANY AUDITION YOU GO TO WHETHER YOU BE WHO YOU MAY THEY WOULD'VE MOST LIKELY SAID THE EXACT THINGS HE SAID TO THE KIDS.. WE AS PERFORMERS ALWAYS HEAR RUDE AND DIRECT CRITISISM, THATS SHOW BIZ.. NO ONE SAID THE PATH OF FAME WAS GOIN TO BE EASY.. ATLEAST YOU GUYS GET TO SEE WHAT GOES ON BEHIND THE SEENS.. BUT IF YOU WERE A PERFORMER YOUDE ALREADY KNO HOW HARSH THEY MAYBE.. FROM MEETING HIM IN PERSON YOU CAN TELL HE IS VERY FRANK BUT HES ALSO VERY FUNNY.. THINGS HAPPEN BUT I CAN ALSO SEE WHERE MANY OF YOU ARE COMING FROM...

America's Got Talent won't be losing viewers to Piers, if anything they will be gaining viewers.

Its people like this who start topics on how bad they think they show is and how horrible the instance with ________ was. It is just going to interest other viewers into watching the show.

These topics are like fuel on the fire. They help TV shows, not hinder it.

Okay, I am kind of in the middle of this argument. I too get annoyed that Piers is so harsh on the contestants but if you watch other reality shows, there is always at least one judge who is harsh. I think the shows love the controversy. But I also agree with another poster that in many instances, I have to agree with Piers. The little girl who came out and immitated didn't deserve to move on for being a copycat. And the little girl who caused all of the controversy with her cheerleading really wasn't that good. The sad and harsh reality is that a lot of mothers do push their children to perform so I know where Piers is coming from with that statement. On the flip side of the coin, the large family in the beginning of the show did a fantastic job. Their little ones who came out at the end did not take away from their incredible performance. And I do understand completely the importance of including them in such a big thing as this. It would be devastating to the little ones to not be a part of this family affair. So, being they didn't hurt the performance, Piers should have just looked the other way and not made a big deal over it. But he is big on splitting up the acts.

I think the important question is, what is the purpose of the show? To have only experienced people compete or Joe Smoe Anybody show that he/she has talent. If you expect only experienced people, then most of the competitors shouldn't be there. But if it is for everyone not in the business to display talent, then they should make allowances. Don't get hung up over nervousness first round if some one displays talent. Also, some of the people I believe have talent although I didn't like their song renditions. I would expect the show to offer people the chance to make changes to better their performances.

All-in-all, I like Piers. I respect Piers. I just feel he needs to treat people with a little bit more respect and let them leave with their dignity.
