NBC is going to lose a lot of viewers because of Piers Morgan. He is rude, and should not attack children and families. I turned it off, and refuse to watch this show now, because the way in which Piers responded was completely unacceptable. It doesn't matter if someone isn't good enough for the show, especially if they are a child, he doesn't have to tear them apart. Of course, everyone who goes on the show should be able to take some criticism; but any civilized human being would know how to gear that criticism towards each individual. And that family comment? Come on now. That is what America is about; families.
I have to agree with this comment. I think that Piers is just trying to be another Simon, which we don't need on TV. I understand that as Executive Producer, Simon most likely had a hand in choosing Piers, but we don't need another Simon. If I wanted to watch Simon, I'd watch American Idol, which I don't. I agree that many of the people that he "X'd" needed to be, but personally, I could do without the insults. Comments are expected, insults are not. Piers is doing his job as a judge, but adding insult to injury is not necessary. Some of these people are going on the show to get their 30 seconds of fame and that's it. But some of these people believe that they have real talent and are putting themselves out there to take a chance. It's not necessary to tear a person down to make a point. It's hard enough just being rejected, let alone to have someone humiliate you, especially on TV. I'm not watching the show to hear the judges insult these people and I'm certainly not entertained by it. I'm watching to see what talents they may (or may not have). If this is the direction that the show is going, I'm not watching.
