I had to stop watching the show tonight just be Piers is on it. He is so inconsiderate and such a jerk to all of the contestants!! It really threw me over the edge when he told the older man with the 10 dogs to take 8 of them back to the pound because they weren't "talented enough". Of course he doesn't care about the animals because he is a rich snob, but what that man is doing by rescuing those dogs is incredible. If those dogs weren't rescued they would be euthanized and that jerk doesn't even care!! He is such a disgrace to this country! He needs to go back to Britain where he came from and get out of our country!

I just created an account on here because I was just as disgusted by Piers remark as you were. I am appalled that this comment was aloud to air. Had they been orphans would he have made the same suggestion? I am outraged and am ready to start a letter writing campaign.

I agree! This incident was appalling and wrong in more ways then one! I would love to see Piers try to walk on the tight rope. And I'd sign that petition in a heartbeat! I hope Piers gets kicked off the show. Those dogs were awesome and what that man is doing is saving lives, unlike Piers. He even made that little girl break out in tears! Ugh, I'm disgusted by his behavior... and it was on national TV!

If you don't think there is anything wrong with the way Piers portrays the treatment of animals on this so-called "family show" then I think you should be put into a microwave for a while or live in a 6x6 cage in a dog pound with a cement floor for a few weeks and then find out you have to die just to make room for some other poor dog that doesn't have a home

You mean intelligent like your suggestion I be put in a microwave?
Really, folks like you I feel sorry for. That you are taking Piers' comments so litterally, do you really think that he would send dogs back to the pound, or has placed cats in microwaves? Piers made some dark humour jokes and so many here think he's evil incarnate because of it, and worse still anyone that dares to support Piers's comments also get branded with the same iron.
No, sorry but it's you that needs to grow up.

Why do you care so much about what other people think about Piers anyway? Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. If you like him fine, but a lot of people don't. I don't know why you are spending so much time sticking up for him. He wouldn't spend all this time sticking up for you....And enough with the personal attacks. I don't know why you feel that you have to put other people down over a stupid tv show, but I think it's a little bit ridiculous. Like I said, I have my opinion and you have yours. Just leave it at that. And if you do have a response, respond to the post instead of attacking the people that wrote them.

Chill.. Piers was hired by 'Simon', the producer, specifically to be the articulate snobby British pitt bull (in his own image). He is performing his duties flawlessly. This is NOT a talent show per se. It is a TV show that uses contrived controversy and pretend angst to get NASCAR/Pro-Wrestling types bickering and choosing sides over scripted and plotted personality skits. The talent on stage is merely a backdrop, a prop used to pump up the audience.. It's not about the talent! I rescue dogs, I foster dogs, and was not offended at all by Piers' comment because I know it's just an an act.

I may be wrong, but maybe pounds in England don't euthenize dogs. I know not all pounds in the U.S. euthenize dogs, especially in more rural areas where the stray population isn't as high. Maybe from a British perspective his attempt at humor was not so dark.

You answered your own question as to why I care, for the same reason you do, I have an opinion. Did you really think that only one side should be explored in a discussion forum? I'm not spending much time at all, it takes mere minutes to read the posts here and less time to type responses.
As for personal attacks, you really should spend some time reviewing what you've said so far. I'll stand by my opinion that you're an idiot since you clearly don't regard your own comments as personal attacks. As for putting your down, well you are doing a fine job of that yourself, I'm merely a catalyst.
Now go back to your weaving.

NBC is airing a commercial about a guy that makes sounds like a cat being microwaved for America's Got Talent. I can't believe that they could be so irresponsible. This might encourage young kids, or sick adults, of which there are enough of already, to see if that's what it really sounds like by grabbing someones cat and microwaving it to death. I don't understand what people see in these reality shows to begin with, but this is the most disgusting thing I have ever heard of and NBC should be flooded with complaints! Now I understand why NBC's ratings have gone into the toilet, it's where they belong!

It was a mean and distasteful comment, but I don't believe it had to do with animal cruelty. Trust me, I completely believe in animal rights and all of that (I'm vegetarian, for goodness sakes), but I believe he was referring to someone's singing. Which is mean in itself. But I highly doubt anyone will be cruel to animals just to hear what it really sounds like.

Plus, hes not saying "Go Microwave a Cat and thats how you sound." Your taking one statement and making a irrational conclusion about it. Its not that serious. He used that phrase last year yet nobody got mad.

I am constantly amazed that people would actually believe that Piers condones animal cruelty based on dark humour comments. What's worse is that people think someone would actually do this based on Piers making this comment about a singer. I mean if people are so easily motivated they probably already are out there doing some pretty sick stuff.
I'm by no means a fan of this show, but if they do repeats on Mondays I might catch the occassional one, Tuesday nights is Canadian Idol for me. I think I would watch just to see how easy it is to offend some folks here.

Honestly, Peirs is my favorite judge! He's the only truthful judge. I know that the America's Got Talent is a show. Shows even reality shows never are truly reality! Peirs was hired to be a Simon. That's what sells TV! I don't think NBC cares if you like him/the show or not, but that you have an intrest in it. Just by posting a message here it proves that the show has viewers and people who keep up with it.
Peirs is my favorite judge! the others are too nice! I loved AGT the first season but this season isn't as good. There is so much drama on the show. unrealistic drama if you ask me. But hopefully the talent will get better soon!
