Full Version: Former Finalist 2 Cents on Season 2
NBC > Reality > America's Got Talent
popemogoth
So far from what I've seen last week and this week. The acts are just okay. I haven't seen an act that is worth the prize money. I believe these people know what they are getting themselves into. But what we see on TV is what the producers are pumping out for ratings. The flow of the show is so boring. If this show don't pick up next week...i don't think there will be a season 3. Before anyone say anything, this is just an opinion. Kick it up a notch and make me eat my words.

Flaws:
1: The acts seem to be cut down 30-45 seconds.
2: Singers: No music
3: Judges calling out next.
4: Every time the audience chant Jerry, Jerry! It feels like I'm watching the Springer Show.
5: What's up with the Kid bashing?

Who are you... you said former finalist so you wouldn't have put that if you didn't want us to know who you are... but then you don't say.

I know that's off the topic of what you were talking about but I figure I might as well be the one to ask.

My name is DJ Say former singer from the band " AT LAST " we made it to the finals of AGT last season. I was asked to audition as a solo singer for season 2 but I'm waiting for a bigger opportunity later on this year with another show.

AT LAST OFFICIALLY BROKE UP ON DEC 13th 2006

First, sorry to hear At Last is no longer together.
Secondly, I agree!

We need to see more acts, less crap in between. Give the talent a chance to really show their whole time. Also, as an audience member I was disappointed to find that there are singers who are forced to use already known music when part of their talent is actually songwriting! There is a poor kid coming up from the episode I was at... they ripped on him for not being perfect. He plays guitar and sings and his point was that he usually plays his own music he has written and not someone else's that he has to try and do right for them.

Let the talent shine! Don't Limit them!

Hmmm, wouldn't you think it would be better to sing your own stuff than to worry about violating copyright laws?

I hate to hear that At Last is no longer together, and I do agree about the direction of the show. I thought some of the acts were really good last Tuesday night, but I felt like I was watching the Jerry Springer show. Nothing against him as a host, but to me, the audience chanting Jerry and chanting things to the contestants continually throughout the show took away from it. The show seemed to focus more on drama than talent. Good luck with your career.

That's weird. Is that like seriously in the rule books, that you can't play your own music? Not only does that seem like they'd owe a whole bunch of money to ASCAP, but it also wouldn't be a true reflection of their talent. I mean sure it tells you they can sing and play their instrument, but lots of people can do that. It doesn't say anything about the quality of their musical or lyrical creativity, which if they win, is going to be a big factor in whether they're going to be successful. You think they would have learned their lesson from Bianca Ryan. She had enormous vocal talent, but no musical creativity. Her album bombed and got horrible reviews. If Simon Cowell wanted a return on the million they give away, you would think he'd want to hear your original stuff to see if you had a chance to turn his label a profit. I'm hoping AGT lasts, because I think it's fairly entertaining. I'd also like to audition next year, so hold on for one more season! We're all counting on you haha!
