The lady who cried on stage because she was scared of being X'd while an interesting act not worth the million dollars, but does anyone know the name of the song or artist that was in her performance?

Dear gwb1972, and All,

I don't know the song, but I wanted to disagree with you about her act. I think she was quite good. I certainly couldn't do what she did, even when I was much younger than I am now.

My big question regarding any of the acts that appear is whether or not they could sustain themselves for a much longer performance--say 45 minutes. Do they have more to show the audience, or are we essentially seeing the whole act in the 90 seconds? That was the problem last year with "Quick Change." They were very good at what they did, but it was the same exact act in the same exact order every time. I just wanted to know what else they did in their full show. Liang's act is physically taxing, and I wonder what else she does, or does she perform as part of a troop of people?

Am I alone in feeling left out? Just I put in a video audition and really heard nothing. I thought i was good. but that's me. Why did they hold last minute auditions? I don't think they even looked at the video auditions.

I think that lady Liang should get a chance for the million. I think she is a Chinese acrobat and I hear they are well trained. Maybe she does other skills and I hope we get to see more of her. I don't believe a good variety act can even win the million. But she sure seems genuine and I hope she makes it far in the show. I liked the music too but I don't know who did it.

Haha you guys need to get caught up on your classics. Even my 72 year old grandma knew what the song was hahaha. It's "Classical Gas" by Eric Clapton.

Granny got it partly right. It's Classical Gas but the composer and original performer is Mason Williams. Pretty sure the track they used on the show is Williams. Yes, that's right the bootleg .mp3's you've downloaded are mislabeled. Whoever it is - Mark Knopfler, Mason Williams it ain't Clapton.

I'm not able to find documentation of Clapton having recorded it. Every mention I've seen in guitar forums on Usenet and elsewhere indicates that Clapton never recorded it but is often misattributed as having done so. Not any big miracle that your Granny would be familiar with it, she would have been only 33 or thereabouts when it was released and was a monster hit.

She was AMAZING, the best solo-plate spinning act I've seen [and trust me, I've seen plenty]. She is my favorite so far smile.gif
