Full Version: Electric Violin Twins - Undermined Talent!
NBC > Reality > America's Got Talent

It is just plain idiocy that an extremely successful and established act like Jason & Nolan (electric violin twins) are kept from showing what they can really do at the expense of their image. A lot of crap is going around online about these guys, and it is apparent that people don't know what they are talking about.

In speaking with Jason & Nolan after one of their concerts, there are several factors that play into this series of unfortunate events for these twin brothers. First of all, they were invited to compete on "America's Got Talent." It was not even their idea. For their interviews, they were encouraged to get "audience symphathy" by claiming that they were geeks growing up, which turns out was the only segment of the interview that was used on the broadcast. All of the music that they really wanted to perform in order to showcase their skills couldn't "clear" just days before the performance according to the producers, leaving them with very little choices in their selection. They did not get the sound check that they needed as an electric violin performance with accompaniment demands detailed EQ and balance checks with onstage monitors, keeping them from hearing themselves properly. The final broadcast mix of their violins was overly compressed, dry, and shrill (not the fault of the twins, but the fault of the sound mixer). We all saw what happened as they were asked to start again in order to finish the song with singing, only to be buzzed viciously before they could sing.

As it turns out, Jason & Nolan are the real deal. They have performed all over the world to thousands of people and standing ovations, performing all kinds of music from classic rock to opera to original music. They have each previously won national violin competitions. They are the opening act for many celebrities such as Sheryl Crow, Smash Mouth, Huey Lewis...the list goes on. They have performed with the likes of Josh Groban and Peter Cetera. They are requested by many major corporations to be the headline entertainment. They have sold over 10,000 albums independently worldwide in less than 2 years. There is nothing laughable about what they do. It is unfortunate that a supposed contest would set up a real act to fail in such a disgusting manner.

Based on there performance, they were horrid. I'm much into violin music [huge fan of groups like bond, wild, vanessa mae, ect.] and was excited to see some violinists on the show. Jerry said how much the judges would like them, ect. It might have been the song choice of other things, but they were not together on the song. The mix of the different notes made me cringe. And then when they sung, YIKES.

They never got to sing!! How can you say YIKES?

I say YIKES when they sung. The judges buzzed them, they said they sung, then the judges let them resume. Singing = Yuckiness.
