Thank you and the other admins very much for your help with deleting the spam on the boards today. I'm one of the volunteer mods on this board and I was having a hard time keeping up with it all.

I'd like to apologize for not being around eariler to take care of the images and posts that were (and still are being) posted on the board. I was very busy at work and did not get word of what was going on until 11:30 EST this morning.

Please bear with me as I try to keep up with the level of spam.

But does anyone know the details? Who did this and why? I asked the same question on another board and it disappeared.

I don't have any details right now but if I hear anything I'll let you know. I don't know why, but it seems like several people (or a few people with various user names) spammed most of the NBC boards. We were hit pretty hard, as was the Pale Force boards. I can tell you I deleted at least 25-30 topics this morning and about 10 spam posts buried inside threads before the boards were shut down. I don't know how badly the other boards were hit.
The only guess I have for why is they think internet chaos is funny?

Pretty much what I said. A whole lot of spam posts and spam topics on all the NBC boards. The admins had to shut the boards down in order to delete all the spam.

What specifically were the topics about. I never seen them and I am just curious. If you ask me I think it all comes down to Rotarians. When ever something goes wrong I blame them, and I'm usually right.

Well at least they posted horrifying pictures and statements, thank God I saw only one pic & read one message.

Thank you. I wasn't trying to insult anyone, but one of the posts I saw had a real person's address and family information on it--with the number of kids and their ages and genders--and I'm assuming that this was without their permission. That's a lawsuit just waiting to happen for NBC. Every system has a weakness, and I'm just surprised it's taken this long for something like this to happen. Surely the higher ups are paying attention, right? Is there a way to block messages that spam the same content over and over again?

No I haven't heard of those sites before. goatse? Because it has the word goat in the title is it a site which would feature b.eastiality? Seriously I have no idea what you are reffering to when you say these sites and then say grossness. This is weird. Please respond with more detail though because I am interested.

If there is a spam blocker I'm not aware of it. Or at least, I don't have the ability to access it. You'd think NBC would enable something like that considering they enable flood control on the search function.

I only saw the very first line of the post you're referring to (the story one?) and that's all I needed to see.

I think Conan and the writers vandalised the board. I think they wanted to have some fun and I think they did.

You didn't see the stuff that was up here. And it wasn't just the Conan board, it was almost all the other NBC forums as well. The stuff posted here was sick.

I agree with Ellen, Conan and the writers are seriously whacked individuals but whacked in a good way. Their idea of board vandalizing would have involved some sort of animated puppetry and and Brian McCann's old man pants on a fax machine.

Just from hearing what some of you said, I'm sure glad I wasn't able to get on that day. I'm just sorry for everyone who had the misfortune of seeing the horribleness.

Thank goodness it is all taken (or being taken) care of. I hope it doesn't happen again. Although, then again, this is the internet we are talking about.

Anyone watching the show right now Joel just made a joke about going home and looking at crime scene photos and this is a re-run. I'm just saying that maybe our beloved writers are a little more twisted then we all care to realise. I mean Jeffery Daumer was voted class clown in high school. Just saying.

It definitely wasn't the writers. They wouldn't find torturing animals funny let alone other things that were posted.

Apparently it was some internet group that got upset because Carson Daly used (=tried to use) their internet joke.
