I like Alex better I thought she was sexy and just bad a$$ and all that good jazz.

well they were A.D.A's not D.A's but Casey is by far my fave - when Alex left and Casey came in i didnt want to like her but i slowly warmed to her and now i feel she is a GREAT asset to the SVU team - shes compassionate, driven and a smart *** lol all things Alex was not. Alex was what most people call "an ice queen" thats how the writers made her character - she was cold and didnt really have all that much heart to her...i loved Alex and I was sad when she left but i feel Casey Novak is the better A.D.A because unlike Alex she will try a case and lose whereas Alex would cut deals left and right. I just love Novaks sarcasm and compassion for her job and i felt those were some qualities that Alex did not have

Definitely Alex. She has been called an ice queen, but she's the one who went to jail for contempt when she felt the judge was wrong. And she's the one who put her career on the line to get the evidence needed to put a pedophile away in Guilt while making sure Elliot and Olivia wouldn't get into trouble over it.
While it has much more to do with the writers than the characters, I also prefer Alex because she was a better lawyer than Casey is. In the last seasons especially Casey has made some horrible mistakes. It's hard to get behind a character when the writers do that.

I like both of them because they are different. I can't remember what episode but Liz Donnelly defended Casey and Elliot and apparently she has a 71% closing rate. That's not bad !! I like that Casey is a smart *** and Alex because she was professional and close to the detectives. As for the "Ice Queen" title Alex gets, I'm sure being an ADA for SVU is a tough gig. You would have to be strong to try those type of cases.

The episode is Haystack. What Donnelly said was that Casey had been a Senior ADA for six years and had a closure rate of 71%. However, Casey has only been with SVU for 3 1/2 years. Before that she was prosecuting white collar crimes. That 71% almost certainly includes cases she closed before going to SVU. Prosecuting corporate types for theft offenses is a different thing than prosecuting people for sex crimes. Alex had said the closure rate for sex crimes was 4%. I wonder what Casey's closure rate is since she came to SVU.

well i havent seen that many episodes with Alex so i cant say anything but i really like Caseys temper shes firey witty and funny i luv her

However, if I was forced to choose, I'd probably still pick Alex.

I go through periods of obsession w/both of them. Right now I'm on a Casey kick.
Seriously, it's bad though. I'll be watching a big Casey episode (Serendipity, Influence, Poison, etc) & I'll be GO CASEY!
And then I'll watch an Alex episode (Loss, Ghost, that one where she's held in contempt) and I'll completely change my mind.

Aghhh I love them both.

They are both really good looking and it was very hard for me to choose but I picked Alex. she is so down to the point and never tries to be compassionate unless she feels the need to be. Sometimes though her work clouds her gut feeling and El and Liv would have to step in to point her down the right path. And plus Steph/Alex is a really cool person in real life. I was wondering if you guys have seen that one eppy of Bobby F;ay where she was the guest star. Bob was a little flirty and wouldn't stop hugging her and trying to give her a kiss on the lops. The closest he go t was aboug two inches away.

I like both of them alot. They have alot of the same traits, but if I had to pick. I would back um.....Casey. Alex was great and I like her to but for picking sake Casey.

I like them both for diffrent reasons but I for some reason like Novak more maybe it's cause I can relate to Casey more than Alex but casey in my book will win hands down.

I used to like Casey better, because when I started watching the show she was the ADA, so I didn't take to Alex when I saw he older ones, but now that I seenthem all a billion times, I like Alex better, I think she like to stir the pot a little more and crossed the linea couple of times. I wish they would have her come back, maybe as a judge.

well i think that casey is better than alex (she was just boring and everytime i saw her i feel depressed, lmao) , casey is funny and alex had no sense of humor and she was really boring. well that's what i think.

Oh my, tough choice. Well, I suppose to explain it best, I'd have to state how rather sad it is that I make strange, emotional attachments to characters in shows as driven, heartfelt and realistic as SVU. So, seeing Alex go absolutely broke my heart. I'm almost ashamed to admit that I allowed personal bias to cloud my vision. Like many viewers, I was adamant about disliking Casey, but in the end it was severely unjustified. Casey managed to really step up to the bat (as it were) and provide an interesting perspective.

So, though I really do love Alex, Casey has wormed her way in as well. And because I'm an indecisive little mongrel, I can't say who I "prefer." D:

I came to SVU after watchng an episode with Casey, I purposely miss those with Alex .... so I guess that gives away who I prefer *evil grin*

I really like Alex, but Casey has something...well, I don't know- I just liked her, when I watched her first episode.

I believe that I have said this before but...I like Casey. I began watching SVU in season 6 I think it was. So Alex's character is not as familiar. I like Casey's attitude and her sarcasm. I also like her soft spot. Alex, from what I have seen, does not really show her soft spot too often. IMO, that is.

I absolutely love Diane Neal (Casey Novak). Dont get me Alex was great, but I just like Casey more.

I'd have to say Alex, 100% of the way. I just don't like Casey. IMO, she's trying too hard to replace Alex. She started off as a redhead, worked her way into becoming a blond. Some of the first episodes I ever watched were pre-Casey so I got a taste of them both. For me, Casey just doesn't cut it. Alex always will. If only she'd come back and take her rightful place as ADA again. LOL

I chose Casey because she is just awesome!!! I love how she reacts to certain witnesses and how she is towards opposing attorney's. I just can't get off the way she walks, sorry Diane, no disrespect, but your walk is funny.

My favorite ADA is Casey because she is serious during her cases and in trial but can still be sarcastic and funny outside of court. She also has preformed some pretty go legal moves in court. The one that sticks out is when she charged the US army with rape in the episode Goliath.

I sooo agree! Again it's not disrespectful towards Mrs Fitzgerald but in the episode Doubt (6x08) when they enter the apartment of the woman (before finding her in her bathtube after she did a suicide attempt), looks like she's running on eggs....

And I although love her interraction with Liz Donnelly, full of respect but yet she can butthead with her on certain occasions...

Okay I admit I'm a Casey fan

I really like Casey. I mean Alex was great don't get me wrong. But Casey just draws you in. She wears her heart on her sleeve and people can relate to her more. Alex was more of a tough broad and she really focused and cared more about winning the case rather then the victims. On occasion you did see her care but not as much as Casey has shown.

I like Alex much better, won almost all cases and was an competent A.D.A unlike Novak who's always ends up being wiped off the flor. or losing the case against Darius. (Wow you suck Novak!) If you saw the episode "Ghost" you could see who was the best of the Prosecutors

People just like Novak because she came in more during the shipping seasons. for what I read on the episode guides, they're finally doing something interesting to her chrachter. about time!
