I'm 29 and a CJ fan who doesn't watch much modern TV -- certainly not any reality TV. In fact, I only started watching the regular seasons of CJ on NBC two years ago after I randomly caught a rerun on A&E and was intrigued. It was the quirky characters and humor of the early seasons that drew me to the show -- much the way I got hooked on reruns of the Mary Tyler Moore Show on Nick-at-Nite a few years back.
Something about those outwardly strong, independent, and with-it women who are, in reality, endearingly flawed, appeals to me -- in both Jordan and Mary. And then to surround them with more obviously misfit friends and co-workers, not to mention a divorced, frequently grumpy and fatherly boss... Well, CJ sort of became a modern-day version of the MTM Show to me -- a version for which new episodes were still being produced, even if they were becoming increasingly serious. Honestly, I could care less about the gadgets and crime solving. For me, it was all about the characters. I'm certainly sorry to see them go.
I never write in on these boards, but I thought now that it's ending, I would see if anyone else recognized any similarities between CJ and the MTM Show. Am I the only one who found the same kind of charm among them? Maybe CJ can find a new home on NBC's sister network USA. After all, USA claims "characters welcome".
