I mean, isn't that what American Idol is for?

This show should be for other kinds of acts like ventriloquism, magic, acrobats.

And if singers are allowed, they should have a gimmick, like the Glams or even Butterscotch.

I'd say Cas was different enough because he has that whole guitar and beach boy thing going. But Robert and Cruise Ship should not have been in the top 8.

And Julienne, you are awesome, but go on Am Idol in a few years and win it.

It's great that you express your opinion, but as Olandir pointed out, there have been a zillion (OK, maybe only a trillion) posts about singers.

So here's the wrap-up:

Singers ARE allowed.

The ones in the finals ARE talented.

One of them MAY win.

That's the way the producers developed the show. It's their show, they get to make the rules.

Need I remind you that AI has an age restriction: 16-29. Of all the 20 semifinalists they selected, the only one eligible for American Idol was Manuel Romero.

So enough of this "we hate singers" crap. No, Cas Haley and Julienne Irwin could not have gone on American Idol. Stop suggesting that they could have!

Having never watched AI, I am only making an educated guess... I believe you are not allowed to use instruments on AI as part of your act.

They arent allowed musical instruments on AI.

Yeah, he is a better guitar player than singer. I agree that Irwin should train more before she debuts. American Idol would be a good catapult for her in the next few years.

I kinda wish the backup band would've "backed-off" him... you can bearly hear him... and to me, he's better by himself.

I agree. Terry is the only unconventional singing act to make the Final 4.
And even he had to feature his singing to make it.
It's really a singing competition, with novelty acts for diversion in-between.

American idol doesn't allow kids,Bands,or group singers to sing.so this is there only chance.
I think it should be limited to bands,group singers and kids.

what if all of the singers/muscians/beatboxers sang the exact same song? I can picture it now--Jerry Springer saying: "And tonight--all of the contestants are going to be singing the same exact thing!! Who will be sent home? Who will stay and continue to compete for the chance of a lifetime?!"
