Like Shane West? Or his character, Ray Barnett? Then you're in the right place. Myself, I love both Shane and Ray. I really hope the writers take the opportunity to develop Ray more. Why did he go into medicine? There were a lot of other careers he could've chosen to "pay the bills" while he worked on his music. Why did he choose something as difficult and grueling as medicine? And what about his family? His mother lives in Philly, and his dad was a big fan of the blues, but are they still married? Are they divorced? Is his father alive or dead? What kind of childhood did he have growing up? These are the kinds of things I want to see. And I want to see him and Neela together. Not too soon, cause she's still grieving and she has a lot to deal with regarding Gallant and his death. There's a lot of guilt involved, I imagine, for developing feelings for Ray while she was still married to Michael. But I do want them to end up together after Neela's dealt with what she has to.

Well. there's my wish list. What would you like to see for Ray this season?

I will like to see more development on Ray`s character, more about his past and how get into medicine. Anyway i think he is a great character and i love his interaction with Neela. I hope that the writter don`t screw up this character as they have done with others. And by the way Shane is soooooo HOT

The character of Ray Barnett has not been developed at all. He is known for being a flirty rocker and that's about it. We know nothing about his background, family etc... and although I'd love him to get together with Neela, the last thing I want, is for Ray to be just Neela's love interest. Shane West has proven to be a great actor, particularly in the the GHTV epi where he showed great empathy when Neela broke down; TPTB need to utilise his potential.

I was very impressed with Shane West's acting out of the character in this episode!A very emotional and heart breaking story, which makes you treasure what you have in life!A real tear jerker if you ask me! Standing firmly to his believes and trying to bring them across, he not only convinced Me, but i think all the rest of his audience also! Trying to fight for a little life and convincing people to do the right thing is not always easy. It seemed he really put himself into the story, lived it and felt it and made it come to life!I think he gave his best and definitely deserves two thumbs up for his acting in this episode!
And this episode proof that he deserves better story lines, and more great scenes in next season, cause Shane is a very talented actor!

I would love to see some character development with Ray! I think Shane West is one of the most talented actors on the show, especially since he has managed to attract so many fans with the little bit of character development we have seen. I'm looking forward to Season 13 being the season we find out more about Dr.Barnett

Aww Ash thanks for starting the Shane/Ray thread and I agree we need TPTB to develop Ray's character more cos Shane is a great actor and he needs to be challenged more than he has already he has proven that he can take on dfficult storylines and do emotional scenes so I hope they do more with him this season or it will be a waste of a good talent

I cant' miss this thread too! I love Ray's character, and how he grew in the past 2 seasons...and I love Shane and how he acts, he's a great actor and I hope we will see more of him in this season, as many of you said there's a lot thata need to be told about Ray!

ii love shanee && ray. ray is just an all around interestingg actor. and we all know some time soon they are gonna have a wholee thingg on him, like every other character. My personal favorites go wayyy back in er history=p like to what happens withh Dr. Greene withh the tumor, and Benton's baby Rees, and Carter going to rehab. I love it all. haha.

It's about time we learned more about Ray. We saw the softer side of him in S12 in Nobody's baby, how he helped Zoe get away and of course with Neela so perhaps he's finally going to shake the dispo doc reputation. I do feel we need to learn more about his background though. He's a strong character with a huge fanbase and i came back to ER because of the ray/neela eps so we defo need to see more of reela!

I totally agree! However, I also think that Ray is destined to be so much more than just Neela's lover! Shane West is one of the best young actors I've seen in awhile!!! He extremely impressed me in "A walk to remember" and ER's "Noboby's Baby".
So: MORE Ray/Shane! And some Roomie-action!
And, btw: Who had that terrible idea that Gates (of all people) would be a suitable "boyfriend" for Neela???
I'm well aware that Ray/Neela would have been too early, with her losing Michael and all that, but *Gates*???

I'm not sure if I should say this coz is basically a SPOILER...I read somewhere that Ray's mother might be showing up soon,or at least in one episode.

I made a comment about this and one of the girls said she would be "****** off" if this happens because the producers should make Luka's parents show up first...I could have said something but I didn't but I was as ****** off as she was.

Luka is not the only character in the show...they should give the others some credit to

I think Ray's mother showing up is just a rumor. So far, I don't think we have any indication that she will. And since we've just been visited by Jerry's mother and Abby's mother, I think another mother showing up at this point is unlikely. (Not that I wouldn't love to see Ray's mom show up. ) As for Luka's mother, unless they've said otherwise, I've always had the feeling that's she's dead. Luka told Abby he mentioned the baby to "my father", not "my parents". In fact, I think he's only ever mentioned his father and maybe some uncles or something in Croatia. I get where the girl was coming from, cause Luka's been on the show longer, but we know a whole lot more about him than we do about Ray. I hope that changes soon.

I haven't seen any S13,too because I'm from Finland and we have to wait S13 until march-april 2007 but I have seen some pictures from 13.2 too and Shane REALLY looks HOT!!! But then again he looks ALWAYS GREAT!!!

Why is it that the only time Ray seems to get any camera time is when he is in a scene with Neela. I mean Neela gets her own storyline, but if there are no roomies scenes we usually just get little blips of Ray like todays episode where he was on screen for a total of like 1 minute ... what's up with that? More Ray please!!!

Didn't you think he looked hot in that flight suit in that very brief scene at the admit desk? I know I am very irritated with the lack of screen time he has had but I am thinking like was suggested by Ash on another board that it was the very first episode they filmed of the season and he was most likely still touring with The Germs and they had to work around him. Maybe we will see more of him next week. I am trying to be optimistic and wait and see what happens next.

I agree! he's look good in anything ... he also looked good in the beginning of the episode, he was wearing a nice fitted sweater/shirt thingy under his labcoat, it was a bit more dressy than his usual style but still very yum

Three nights ago I started having dreams about Ray and Neela. LOL... (I don't remember anything about these dreams but I remember they were about NeeRay.)

I think it's amazing and wonderful how much Shane owns each scene he's in. You just end up gravitating to the sincerity he puts into his acting - I love how he portrays his characters. (not just Ray, although that's currently at the top of my list, given that this is his most current role and how he is older now ) Of course, my feelings are skewed a bit because I have read more fanfic than I have seen Shane and Parminder onscreen But even without the fanfic, just a few scenes really express the tenderness that's just waiting to be expressed.

It's tantalizing, to say the least. Ooooooohhhh.

I wish we could get more of Ray and more scenes between Shane and Parminder. So much chemistry there.

I'd like to know what happened to his ex-band and if he misses playing with them. I'd like him to have some kind of storyline tied to his first passion. Music is really *his* thing and I'd like some continuity on that every now and then.

Ooh, I agree. And here's a nice (sappy) idea, let him start writing a song for Neela! and hang onto it for a looong time, until it's the right time to show it a couple of scenes between now and then showing Shane playing guitar and jotting down stuff heehee... and practicing...
